Everything is fantastic! The beautiful house, the living room, all the books and board games, the kitchen, the bedroom, the lovely dogs and horses, and most importantly, the warm welcome from the hosts.
I spent 2 days there and it was the most relaxed days recently.
I just feel fully recharged!
I like everything there.

The room was much larger than we expected and very comfortable. The interior of the hotel was beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast room was stunning and had a good variety of food. If you felt like relaxing with a drink there is a comfortable lounge area on the main floor where you can sit and relax. The location was great for walking to shops and restaurants.

Beautiful hotel. Breakfast is served in a stunning historic wooden hall.
The shower was equipped in a way that made it hard not to flood the hole room while showering

I was VERY disappointed to realize that dogs were not welcome in the breakfast room any longer. This will probably mean that this is our last stay which is sad. We have always stayed here during travel btw South France and Scandi - but not any longer

Wonderful room and bathroom. Kind and helpful staff. Walking distance from the train station and a laundromat. We enjoyed it very much!

We visited to see the Christmas market (the best food we've ever had at a Euro market!) and watch the final match of the World Cup. The hotel is in a very convenient location, easy walk to nearby attractions, restaurants, etc. Private parking lot behind the hotel was also very helpful. Break fast in the morning was well stocked and in a very beautiful, large room. The staff is very kind & helpful.
All went well, we enjoyed our stay.

Great location with car park . Tight to enter with a mid sized 4x4.
Very helpful staff.
We visited the Christmas Market - recommend this as there’s a great food market there as well as lots of stalls all over the town.
We didn’t eat at the hotel so cannot comment regards food
You couldn’t reserve a parking space .
Most restaurants were closed Sunday night in the town .

Traditional style French hotel in a good location in town. Nicely furnished common areas and friendly, attentive receptionists. Quiet street, easy walk to restaurants and bars. Comfortable bed with good quality linen. We were able to book in half an hour early.
We booked a few months ahead, a superior double room. We were quite disappointed with our room , 105, as it did not match up to photos or description on the booking site. The room was cramped with a small bedroom area, difficult layout with toilet in entry area and bathroom at back of room. No sitting area or extra usable space, or mini bar. Just a small empty cupboard ( which got in the way of walking past the bed) with a small tv on top. We moved the bed to make more space to get past cupboard. Room quite dark and bland, ( all grey) and a bit shabby. The bathroom was ok. On asking receptionist about a mini bar we were told that room didn’t have one but we could put things in the hotel kitchen fridge!
If you are offered 105 as a superior room , I suggest checking it first and deciding if it matches up to your expectations. The hotel was not busy - difficult to know why they would allocate a substandard room. Guests should not be put in a position where they have to complain because a room does not match up to a description.

The property was elegant and the rooms comfortable. The office staff were helpful and the breakfast very nice.
The staircase had some half-sized treads which made me trip up.

Good location on an overnight stay, very helpful and
friendly staff. Sheets were very soft and rooms were
spotless. Parking either in the building for €7
about 8 spaces or outside on the street free
overnight.
Nothing, we didn’t have breakfast but it looked good

Delightful decor in a lovely location next to the Chateau. Excellent facilities for storage of our bikes. They accommodated our early arrival.
Our room was near wooden stairs so noisy at night until everyone settled in.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The building is very old but our room was clean, bright and thoroughly charming with updated amenities and, to our surprise, the bathroom was very modern. Our room overlooked the street but was quiet and restful. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the old fortress and the old part of the city. A delicious breakfast was served in the gorgeous salon. Excellent location from which to explore Montbeliard.

This experience was only (!) negative, but due to lack of space, I split it:
I admit I don’t know the local hotel standards in small French towns, but it was definitely below my standard even for a 3*.
I booked a deluxe room with check-in at 1 am. I reached the hotel in advance to make sure they remember about me and my late check-in (I considered the option that they might be closed at this hour).
When I arrived, the reception guy told me there was no booking under my name! How was it possible considering I earlier had an email conversation with them about my booking?!!
I had booked a deluxe room specifically because I wanted a bigger than standard room. At the check-in, they told me only one room was available — a comfort one. It was the size of a wardrobe, literally. Old, rundown furniture the size only right for small children was all cramped into what seemed a 10-12 m2 space. I know room size is a general issue in France, but that is why I hedge my risks by booking a bigger option IN ADVANCE! Only the hotel didn’t care anything about it.
When I complained, the reception guy told us the only alternative he has is a room that hadn’t been cleaned. He literally suggested we could stay there after he changed the bed linen. So he probably considered it OK that we would use the dirty bathroom and toilet in the room with no problem?
So my husband (height 190 cm) and I had to sleep on what seemed a child’s bed (large 120-140 cm).
The night was simply terrible. The floor and staircase tiles in the hotel screech badly so when anyone passes by you hear it very well. The wooden doors get slammed by the hotel residents starting at 7am so if you wanted to sleep a bit longer (like we did after a 1 am check-in!) — GOOD LUCK!
There is no adequate ventilation system in the room. When we got in it was all stuffy so we had to sleep with an open window and hear all the screaming from the street in the morning.
Don’t even get me started on the quality of the bathroom and its equipment that was born probably in the 60s.
But the epitome came when the next morning we came down to have breakfast. When we entered the breakfast room, there were only TWO clean tables. All the others were crammed with dirty dishes and food remains.
It felt DISGUSTING. So it appears that the hotel staff doesn’t bother cleaning the tables. They wait until every guest has eaten and only then do they clean. So it was a nauseating experience to be sitting and eating surrounded by someone’s scraps of food.
My general conclusion is that the hotel is very relaxed about cleaning and sanitation in general.
I would NOT recommend it to anyone and thanks god it was only one night!
P.S.: the Booking.com account I am writing my review from belongs to my personal assistant.
My name is Olga and the room, of course, was booked in my name.

Loved our room in the back off the parking area. Quiet, spacious, private and clean. Very comfortable. nice breakfast. Great secure bicycle storage.

Charming design, very friendly staff, good location, decent sized room.
It’s an authentic, old property and stairs from first floor (where we stayed) to ground floor are irregular and hazardous. We lost our footing a few times.

the building was absolutely beautiful and had so much character!
