Over its vivid and expansive history, Sudeley Castle has played host to many of England’s reigning queens, from Anne Boleyn to Queen Elizabeth. In the sitting area one of the sofas can be converted into a double bed. Historic images remind you of this cottages' past and in the living area a discerning picture of Queen Victoria overlooks your adventure planning. My daughter moved to winchcombe last year we wanted a family holiday near her with wheelchair access. This cottage was ideal for location, full of character it had everything we needed. It had a downstairs bathroom, which worked but not entirely as it was a bath not a shower so mum couldn’t access it fully. There’s plenty of disabled parking in town so the hill was not a problem. The staff were extremely friendly and sorted out our queries immediately. We loved our visit to Sudeley castle and gardens which is included in the stay. We would definitely stay here again very good value for money.

This property is in a very poor condition and is in need of a well overdue refurbishment both inside and out, The outside patio has loose flags/wall and care should be taken when approaching the property. Other properties in the courtyard offer much better value and should be preferred when booking.

Perfect location for Winchcombe, Sudeley Castle & GWR railways … cottage is self contained and has all utensils one would require.

We much enjoyed our brief stay at Queens Cottage. Overall it was comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. The location was excellent, being a short stroll to all the shops and facilities that Winchcombe has to offer as well as the heritage railway nearby to visit Broadway and Cheltenham. It was a bonus to have complimentary access to Sudeley Castle and gardens, also a short walk away, which was very enjoyable with an extensive display of artefacts in the castle, lovely grounds and church with Katherine Parr's final resting place.
A few minor issues jarred regarding the cottage itself:-
- The sofa cushions were stained and worn and offered no support, collapsing when sat upon.
- The view from the rear kitchen window was unpleasant, resembling a mini waste/storage site, and had evidently been visited by a dog!
- When we returned to the cottage on Friday evening we were unable to park in the communal parking area as it was full so had no choice but to park outside the cottage.

Perfect 2 night break. Warm and cosy with everything we needed. Had a delightful mooch around Sudeley Gardens and Broadway. Highly recommended location and great value.

We loved this property. Open plan and very comfortable. The bathrooms were great. We were walking the Cotswold Way and this was very conveniently placed. Great pubs and restaurants just up the road. Extremely efficient and quick booking which was great as we were let down for another cottage.

Overall a great place for families to stay. Well located and have all the amenities including for babies. We stayed here with our parents and kids and everyone was quite comfortable.
Just one suggestion - the downstairs bath can have a shower curtain so that it can be used without making much mess.

We had a fantastic stay!! All amenities were as stated. Kitchen was homely, shower spacious and bedrooms very comfortable. The cottage grounds were very peaceful and easy to access.
We got locked out and someone came straight away. We would definitely share this stay with friends and family and will be back to stay again !

Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Queen’s Cottage. Location was ideal - short walk to both village and castle. Cottage very comfortable with everything that we needed.

The Queen's Cottage was perfect for our visit to Sudeley Castle and Winchcombe. It was spacious, clean and just as described. Entry into the castle was free with our stay which was an extra bonus. Not a lot of dining options in town.

The location of the Sudeley Holiday Cottages is superb with access to many footpaths, Sudeley Castle (when it is open)and Winchcombe with its lovely shops and pubs. We went for a magical walk across the snowy fields.
The people at Boltholes Retreats were extremely helpful and very quick to respond to a question I had.

A nice and pleasant way to spend a few days. It was lovely and clean and restful. There were other people around if necessary.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sudeley Cottages. It was the perfect location for attending a wedding at Sudeley Castle. The Queens Cottage was well equipped and clean. The only small niggle was the wall light as you look down over the stairs. Lots of bugs and cobwebs in the light - this can easily be cleaned, so not a major detractor. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Stayed for week in September. Great location for exploring the rest of the cotswolds by car. House was clean comfortable and spacious. Overall had no issues but scored customer service 3/5 as had no interaction with anyone good or bad! Was on the expensive side for the area I would think but short walk to village / walking paths made up for this. Free entry to sudeley castle is a nice perk. One negative was there seemed to be no where to recycle glass?

A four night stay in a Cotswold bolthole.
Our first Cotswold Cottage holiday was for four night in "Queens Cottage at Sudeley Castle, close to Winchcombe.
The Cottage was a two bedroomed detached property within a group of stone built cottages dating back many years, but thoroughly modern and well fitted out. Comprising two bed rooms and a bathroom up stairs and a lounge dining room and kitchen, together with a second bathroom down stairs.
The interior decor was light and with numerous windows it had a light and airy character. Carpeted throughout, and with two large settees, a dining table and an excellent kitchen with all modern appliances it made for a most hospitable and comfortable residence.
WiFi and a large television were included but we never used either device during our stay.
The tow bedrooms, each with a wardrobe plus chest of drawers provided ample storage, the one bedroom had a large double bed, and the second bedroom had two single beds. All the beds were very comfortable and provided with full fresh bedlinen.
On entering the cottage the appearance was one of extreme tidiness and good condition to all fittings, and excellent provisioning of towels, face flannels and kitchen linen, plus wahing and shampooing products in both bathrooms.
The atmosphere was one of peaceful, quiet tranquility, it was hard to know that other families were staying in the "complex" were it not for the dozen or so cars in the ample private parking area.
Directions for arrival and entering the cottage were concise and simple, having been provided well before we departed from home, and a comprehensive gazetteer of Winchcombe and the Cotswold area was provided on the coffee table. THe cottages were situated about 200 yards from the main street through the town with numerous small shops and a goodly number of excellent eating establishments.
If ever we return to the Cotswolds for an holiday, we will know exactly where to stay by returning to the cottages at Sudeley Castle.

Excellent facilities and parking. Easy access to castle and small town. Bakery, shop and pub/restaurants within 5 mins walk. If you stay in the castle cottages you get free access to the castle. Did not need to communicate with property manager but for the purposes of this review I have to give a star rating so give 5 in line with everything else.

Another lovely stay at Queen's Cottage
We returned to Sudeley a second time for our Easter break, the cottage is clean comfortable both in winter and spring. Perfect location to Winchcombe and a lovely walk to the castle. The cottage has everything you may need the bathrooms are very clean with towels and a few toiletries, great for when you’ve forgotten something. The team at the cottages work very hard, there wasn’t a day they were not there cleaning other cottages getting them ready for new guests. We managed to misplace our key whilst there, which was replaced quickly without any fuss.(Thanks to Gary!)
Thank you all again for a perfect stay, we hope to be back soon.

Very nice property
A short walk from the main street, the last part very steep up to the shops and restaurants.
The cottage is very comfortable and quiet with well equipped kitchen, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher etc.
Warm and cosy in the evening.

Queens Cottage at Sudeley Castle Cottages
A fantastic base for a visit to this area. Perfect for visiting the Sudeley Castle Illuminations a short walk/drive away. We had a very comfortable stay.

Wonderful stay
We came as a family of six included two of my grandchildren. The cottage was very spacious as open plan living ,very comfortable and so much provided . Very quiet location and such a bonus free entry to Sudeley castle children loved it , would definitely recommend .

queens cottage, winchcombe
All fine thank you and we enjoyed our stat but it was a pity there was so little information provided in the brochure about how things like the cooker and other gadgets work. This is usually provided in self catering properties. Also, re cycling arrangements were non existent--no separate containers in the kitchen and no blue bins in the yard. We asked one of the cleaners and she said she didnt know! We had to take our re cycling to the communal site in the town!

A brief encounter.
The Queens Cottage has been reconfigured from its original design as a pump house into spacious holiday accommodation that sleeps six.
This Cottage is well equipped with all up to date amenities and is situated close to the town and Sudeley castle.
We would certainly visit again and would recommend to all.
There are a couple of issues that we feel need to be brought to the attention of the managing agents. These are :-
The fridge/freezer is far to small to accommodate food for up to 6 persons, the freezer is very small. Cottages within the complex sleeping less than 6 have huge fridge/freezers.
Also the downstairs bathroom/toilet is situated next to the kitchen area with only one door between,My understanding it should be 2 doors.

a comfortable and pleasant stay although a few niggles.
very comfortable living and sleeping areas with a very well equipped kitchen and lovely toiletries.
However there are a few points to make which could improve the stay.
Bedroom mirrors are on the floor, propped up against the wall meaning that you are able to see yourself from the waist down. there is room in both bedrooms for a small stool/unit for the mirror to be stood on or better still, attach to the wall!
Hair drying needs to be done on the landing where there is a wall mirror and plug nearby.
The Step down outside one bedroom is covered with the same carpet as the landing with nothing to highlight that it is there. I fell down this step during the night badly bruising my arm on the railing nearby.
Slanting ceiling on the window side of the same bedroom should be highlighted with something either hanging from it or marked with something coloured. The slopes are white, the same colour as the walls and ceilings making them difficult to see if you are not walking around that side of the bed with shoulders bent down. Again I hit my head quite hard when walking around to open the curtains.
One chair in the living room has a very badly damaged seat. Made from faux leather (plastic) it is cracked over its entire surface to the extent that it flakes off onto the floor. It should not be in the room.
cold tap in downstairs bathroom is not properly attached to the basin and wobbles around when used.
Apart from that, we enjoyed our visit to the Cotswolds.

Celebration with family
Spacious, comfortable cottage, very well equipped kitchen. Excellent location for visiting castle and town, both within easy walking distance. Cottage would benefit from some refurbishment - dining chairs worn, carpet and soft furnishings stained.

Lovely place to stay in great location
Really nice cottage, well equipped kitchen and nice furnishings. The man in the office was a bit moody on the phone though.

Lovely Cotswold Cottage
Really enjoyed our stay in Queens cottage. Fantastic location, for visiting all of the Cotswold villages. Only a 5 minute walk into Winchcombe to access some lovely pubs and restaurants. Free entrance into Sudeley Castle was an added bonus. A few small improvements could make the cottage even better, new patio furniture and dining room chairs would be a good investment as they looked a little tired but we would definitely return.

3 days at Queens Cottage
this was the second time we have stayed at the Sudeley cottages, we had a few very enjoyable days at the Queens Cottage,it was an excellent cottage for the number in our family, it was spotless and very well equipped, we had one issue with the shower door but the Sudeley management had it resolved the same day. Hoping to visit again soon.

Very nice holiday cottage
The booking process and arrangements were fine, the cottage was very clean and the standard of fittings and contents were excellent; everything that you need for a stay is there.
The location is great: near to Sudeley Castle and within a short drive or Bourton-on-the-Water, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham etc.
My only criticism would be that the outdoor table and chairs on the patio are rather shabby.
4.8
Very comfortable cottage in a great location
Excellent accommodation. Very well stocked with everything you could need.
The fridge, however, is rather small and there is no freezer. There is space to install a fridge freezer and this would be really useful.
All in all a really comfortable cottage in a unique setting.

Could do better for the money
We expected a better standard of everything! Customer service tried their hardest in spite of neglect and cost cutting

Perfect place for a trip to the Cotswolds.
Sudely Castle cottages are a lovely place to stay: picturesque, comfortable, in an excellent location for the village and for the many walks from Winchcombe. And the staff are rally helpful and friendly.

A long weekend in Winchcombe
We really enjoyed our stay at Queen’s cottage near Sudeley Castle. It was comfortable, well equipped and very warm. With just two of us staying there was plenty of room, and a luxury to have a bathroom each. A little tired looking in places, this didn’t spoil our stay, despite weather warnings and torrential rain.
4.8
Nice cottage, easy access to Winchcombe shops and restaurants and to Sudeley Castle
Nice and comfortable cottage, with two minor downsides: from the photos, it seems like there is more of an open view in front of it than in reality, where the other cottages are close by (but the whole area of cottages is very well designed); and the ceiling in the kitchen is quite low, which wasn’t an issue for my wife, our toddlers and I (I’m the tallest of all four at 1.72m or 5’8’’) but may feel cramped for someone taller.
About the broader area, the cottage offers easy access to Winchcombe shops and restaurants (the nearest pub is 2 minutes walk away, the mid-size Coop less than 10 minutes walk away), and to Sudeley Castle. Take-aways from the Thai and pizza place (it’s the same one, we tried both types of food) and the Chinese place are really good (and 2-3 minutes away). Finally, the cottage gives you free access to Sudeley Castle, which has an amazing playground where we went three times.
