Traditional palace like building and decor. Caring and helpful staff. Spacious room.
Slight delay in topping up breakfast buffet dishes.

Have stayed a number of times and it's always a nice stay, especially with the pool and garden to sit in
Some umbrellas around the pool lounges would make sense, especially as it's the hot season.

The hotel has beautiful architecture, is spacious but old.
Our room had very poor ventilation and the bathroom was very small

A regular guest at Hotel Shanker and never disappoints. A splendid building, once owned by the Monarchy, now independently owned. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Lovely swimming pool. Great location.

A lovely well run hotel set in it's own gardens. Staff very accommodating and a good breakfast. I have stayed here twice and this time I had one of the refurbished rooms which was very pleasant (the bathrooms have been fully modernised).
It's easily within walking distance into the city centre and there are several perfectly good local restaurants literally minutes outside the front gate.
I had an early checkout (0430) and was offered a breakfast box without needing to request it, thanks guys :-)
Everything was fine.

The Ambience is good and has excellent Property Ground which makes it a pleasant stay for Work and / or Holiday.
The Property is Aged and needs a Major Overhaul if they want to survive the upcoming competition from the new Property which are coming up in the vicinity.

Overall everything 👍
Where I stayed, back side, windows were very antiquely designed however couldn't see any external view because it was very low down on floor label. I'd prefer open window so could feel better and see outside view 😄👍, next time 😉

Hotel upgraded me to a suite, which was spacious and nice.
Hotel restaurant is located in basement and the lift does not go down. Have to go down by a narrow staircase. I had one breakfast there, selection is limited. Dinner i tried once too. It was in the same venue. I ordered some butter chicken and naan and it was salty. The wine i ordered did not come in the right wine glass . In fact , it was the smallest glass have ever seen. If you cannot deliver standard, then you should not include it.
The bar was dark ,seedy-looking with dark furniture and located in the far end of hotel lobby. I walked in at 6:30 to 7pm, the bar tender was an oldish Nepali chap who despite the fact that the bar is totally empty, is more interested in watching tv then even say hello to me or ask me what I want to drink. The normal thing would be to say " Hi madam, can i recommend our drinks ? .With such attitude , i walked out without ordering anything. He doesn't care and continued watching his tv.
You see, if you are in the Hotel business, every staff , no matter where you are stationed, is important.

Location was great. Nice and prompt staff. Walking distance to Thamel market. Many Cafes and restaurants nearby.
Limited Indian options in breakfast (otherwise fine). Rooms needed more lighting. Roof in the room was low. Carpet in common area needed cleaning

Good location and good facilities. Pool and pool bar were great to relax. Facilities were clean and good selection for breakfast. Staff were very helpful. And the online concierge was really easy to use.
I found a semi dead cockroach in my room on arrival. Also the bath water was discoloured for some reason was tinted orange which was not so appealing

The staff were amazing, very friendly and efficient. The location was an oasis of character and calm in a hectic city. The restaurant food was lovely and the buffet breakfast was varied for all tastes. The pool and garden area was very restful.

Location is near the old town in a silent and protected area. Couldn't be better. Pool with service and a nice cake-selection. The room is very good. There were multiple events in the beautiful garden. E.g. weddings and photo shootings.
The police academy is near and they to a trumpet event every morning at 6am.
