Quiet. Spacious room. Clean. Basic self catering facilities to make simple meals - nice not to have to go out to eat after a long day exploring and ability to make own sandwiches for the day. Tea, coffee, milk and a few breakfast items for 1st morning provided and much appreciated. Good location for easy access to the coast: Southwold,Aldeburgh and delightful Minsmere RSPB site without paying through the nose in school holiday period. Welcoming hosts.
Sadly pub closed Mondays when we planned to eat there in eve. Breakfast situation has changed. Booking.com states it is served in the room and reviews rave about the cooked breakfast. This is no longer offered - for sensible commercial reasons. We did appreciate the free basic breakfast items provided for one morning instead. Bed is fine but my back doesn't like soft mattresses unfortunately. Bit of TLC needed to outdoor furniture and hot water tap: sprays water sideways. Personally I would remove the portable oven. V small, not needed and sth that heats to 230C not being fixed in but balanced in top of microwave did not seem safe to use. Having a microwave and toaster is already more than expected for a place not advertised as self catering. Great little fridge.

A comfortable place to stay whilst attending latitude festival. The complimentary breakfast from the first evening was very welcome.

Perfect cozy base to explore a beautiful part of England. Convenient for a trip to Latitude too.

Good spot for access to RSPB Minsmere. Although the bathroom is compact it had a very good shower. Wifi was effective which is a must these days. Basics for self catering.
Didn't try the small oven which would have meant moving toaster and microwave as the power cable was very short. Provide an extension cable for this to be easily used.

Beers in the pub were really good. The location was very peaceful. Bar staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating.
I did not like the kitchen facilities in my accommodation.

peaceful and quiet, lovely sheep neighbours! comfy and clean lodge
no dvd player, fire exit sign far too bright in the room. wifi only worked for a short while and then had vanished for duration of stay.
3.0
Quiet at night , comfortable bed clean accommodation
Tap in sink sprayed everywhere, making it irritating to use & difficult filling a small jug to fill enough for tea .

The cabin is very pretty and I liked the wildlife outside, sheep and birds etc which was relaxing.
It was a good standard of cleanliness.
It was easy access with the check in.
Tea and coffee making facilities were appreciated.
Unfortunately the beds were quite uncomfortable - as they had very soft mattresses which gave me a bad back - all the linens were clean but the beds and bedding were of cheap quality. I didn't sleep very well.
The shower was not so great, not very powerful.

We stayed in the double lodge. The lodge was warm and with the little extras, very welcoming. Excellent location; lovely & quiet. The lodges are away from the road. Plenty of parking. They do a lovely curry night on a Tuesday. Tom & his staff were very friendly. We had our two labs with us, and they couldn't have been welcomed more! ☺️ We would definitely stay here again.

Location was good for us, easy to find and park. Dinner in the pub was very nice.

The owner is super friendly and made us feel very welcomed.
The food was very poor and over priced. The burger and bon bon were very dry, appearing to both be reheated and both not very warm . It was expensive also which made it much us more disatisfying. Such a shame because the owner is lovely, very helpful and there is great beer on offer.

We have stayed at the Lion several times before , this time was during a very cold spell. The room had two heaters, which were needed but did keep us relatively warm . Tom the landlord was very attentive and made sure we were as comfortable as possible, the beds are very comfortable. We ate in the bar one evening which was very nice and as usual there was a very good choice of beers on offer. Overall a very nice stay once again.
Very small sink in bathroom but we manage ok.

Looking forward to staying again soon.

Location
Cabin shabby and outside areas unkempt. Pub unwelcoming, didn’t enjoy the meal, way too bland and expensive for what it was.

Love the location and the chalets which have everything you need. The owners are friendly and very helpful and the pub is great. This is a brilliant base for walking or cycling.
The only negative is that the wifi signal in the chalets is patchy. It's excellent in the pub though.

Cabin had everything we needed. Nice welcoming pieces of cake was a thoughtful touch.
Pub meal was lovely, hosts very friendly.

The cabin was clean, homely and as a lone traveller very safe. The welcome cake, milk in fridge and ambiance of the lodge was just right.
Had a fantastic nights sleep.

ease of booking, value for money, attached pub
would have liked the option of a small cheap breakfast like a bacon roll. I’m sure the full English is excellent but would have been to large

We had everything we needed, the hosts were friendly, and the pub in general was very good, would stay again.

Owners Tom and Helen and bar Maestro Ruth went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay. Good food and a brilliant array of local beers, lagers and ciders was icing on the cake (you know what I mean!).
Filling kettle a bit of a chore but hardly worth a complaint. Bed on the soft side but again not a cause of great hardship.

Really enjoyed our stay here.
Tom and Helen were great hosts and run a lovely pub.
Staying in a simple wooden lodge hidden away at the bottom of the pub garden next to a field with some sheep in was a pretty fine way to spend a night.
Dinner, beer and breakfast were all exceptional and reasonably priced.

The view over the field
The fact that the facilities were closed from Sunday 6pm to Tuesday

Cracking little chalet situated at the end of the pub garden, very quiet, everything you need catered for, incredibly clean, excellent for our two night stay with our young dog. Lovely view overlooking fields, we very impressed and the pub is a quant traditional inn. We have booked again for another stay in a months time. Recommended to several friends and family.
All OK!

location great for us - lovely and peaceful with sheep and goats in field behind the chalet - lovely sunsets over the field. Fabulous evening meal in the pub. Hosts very welcoming and helpful - we felt like part of the family. Pub is well supported by locals and has a wonderful array of ales to sample and as mentioned the food is excellent.

Dangerous electrics in toilet/shower room. Non compliant wiring too near sink. Fine jet of water from hot water heater tap spraying directly onto wiring and non ip rated juncton box. Wiring and box fitted too close to sink! (Needs to be looked at by qualified electrician)
Shower curtain obscures most of the light in the shower area, thus making it very dark. This can be dangerous.
‘Illuminated’ fire escape sign over entrance door. (Overkill) Green light is on all night in a bedroom. This does not work!
Had to wedge a pair of pants over it to get a good nights sleep.
Tv, not worth having. Too small + ancient, hard to work satelite box. Difficult to find anything to watch with remotes. Pointless!
Breakfast was nice, but was overpriced to that of a Hilton. This is certainly no Hilton.
Field of sheep next to us, ok,
but had total strangers and their children walking by while i was totally naked on the bed, to look at the sheep. Brilliant!

I had booked the accommodation due to it's location and apparent quality of it's beers; not paying too much attention to the facilities on offer. I was therefore more than pleasantly surprised with the standard of accommodation and the whole ambience of the establishment.

This is a great little place. Wonderful location for Minsmere. Not the most luxurious, but adequate or better in every respect.
Nothing not to like.
