Million dollar view, secluded, excellent host, the property is a little dated but did not deter from experience. Great to have boat available for running to harbour island

We enjoyed Tom as a host and his recommendations were great. We stayed two nights. There was no boat or car. We were given half of boat fee back (full would have been appreciated). The house was large but the missing boat and car was a bit disappointing as those were amenities we wanted. We didn’t have hot water during our stay. Would recommend.

Tom & Brenda were the best hosts. We had the most relaxing time and were able to use the boat to visit Harbor Island. Such an amazing spot to stay.

We’ve been vacationing in the Bahamas for 36 years, 1 to 3 visits per year, and we’ve owned our own VRBO rental. Baycienda is absolutely the real Bahamian Experience.
This home is humble and non pretentious, which is real Bahamian. The community building is a very roomy setting from kitchen to 2 dining tables (6 + 6 seats) and a relaxing family area with TV. The dining tables & chairs are beautifully painted by the hosts. Quality wicker couches and relaxed seating give a true caribbean touch. There are nice touches, from local art to coral walkways and beautiful wood ceilings.
If you are planning to cook for many as we did you will be disappointed. The Oven/Stove is difficult to use. The kitchen itself needs renovation.
The family room view is spectacular but the sliders (all windows) need a good cleaning.. The bathrooms are also in need of updating and a good cleaning but the bedrooms are comfortable with clean linens.
The backyard boasts a variety of indigenous plants that are beautiful and make for an hour of discovery. Every few hours, hummingbirds cruise through the hibiscus plants for nectar. The view beyond is spectacular, made possible by trimmed shrubs and trees, starting with the australian pine lined beach, wide dock and amazing water view. The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure everyone is having fun, from the paddle boards, kayaks, pool, water skis/wake board and sand edge beach.
We recommend Baycienda for its beautiful setting.

We had a fantastic week in Whale Point at Baycienda. Tom and Brenda were incredibly helpful including helping us to navigate the challenge of cancelled flights on Christmas Day and chartering alternates with local providers. We had stayed very busy all week and spent 2 days out with Capt. Sanchez to see the pigs/Spanish Wells one day and a beach picnic spear fished by Sanchez himself another day. He was amazing! Our crew of 4 adults and 6 kids ranging from 7-14 had an absolute blast at Baycienda and at Eleuthera in general. We hated to leave!

Tom and Brenda were great hosts!
We all had a wonderful trip and recommend doing a boating/beach day with Sanchez (he’s a really good cook too).

The location of this property is amazing! We really loved being able to explore all that the area had to offer. So close to the turtles and rope swing, which our young boys love!
Captain Sanchez is just the best and made our trip so memorable! He was so good with our kids, fun to hang out with, amazing fishing excursions and the food he prepared was absolutely delicious! We all loved every single thing he cooked.
Overall, we feel that the house itself could definitely use some updating for the price per night. This was not our first stay in Eleuthera, we have stayed in a few different houses at this same price point, so that is our comparison.

I don’t want to leave a positive review because I’d hate for anyone else to find this place. But i owe it to Tom and Brenda. They were amazing hosts and Baycienda is paradise!
The bay is better than most beaches you’ll find and the cliffs on the Atlantic side of the island are a great place to watch the sunrise.
Thank you Tom! We can’t wait to come back!

We had a great time. The hosts , the place, and the amenities like the boat and the guide are fabulous. The property is well-worn and has a great library. We would recommend bringing some supplies as the stores are a bit far by car, but easy to get to by boat!

Awesome house ideally set up for entertaining. The layout with the bedrooms on one side and kitchen/dining/living rooms on the other side with a covered outdoor dining area in the middle was amazingly effective. The view was incredible!
When we booked the house, a car was included with the rental but as we got closer to the trip, I noticed the car was removed from the listing. We really wanted a car to allow us to come and go as we please.
The hosts and the house steward were lovely and meant well, but we found them overbearing. There was no privacy in the main house to speak off, with the owners living in a house in the back yard and the steward letting himself into the main house every day.. I am sure some guests might like the hosts' active involvement in their vacation, but I am sure there are many like us who want to DIY in privacy.

We had the best vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday! The layout is perfect for families with young kids. They can go to bed early and you can in the living area without worrying about being too load. The home is "weathered," but it has everything you need and it gives it character! We will definitely be back!!

We had a fantastic time even with a tropical storm passing through for 2 days! There were 6 of us total, everyone had plenty of room, the property was very lovely and secluded. The hosts Tom and Brenda were extremely accommodating and friendly. They even were able to help us stay one extra night when the airline decided that our flight was cancelled 30mins before the airport closed.
Sanchez was also a great, he definitely made us a tasty dinner!
Thanks again for everything!

Tom and Brenda helped me pull off a wonderful surprise birthday weekend for my wife. They were able to make reservations for us at a restaurant on Harbour Island that was excellent. Brenda was able to have a birthday cake made for my wife. It was beautiful and delicious. We had Tom and Brenda set up a beach picnic and Sanchez knocked it out the park catching fresh fish and lobster and prepared a wonderful meal on the beach. We also had Sanchez catch fish and lobster for us one day and he prepared a wonderful Bahamian style dinner for us that did not disappoint anyone in the group. The views at sunrise are absolutely amazing on the ocean side and the sunset is breathtaking. Tom, Brenda, and Sanchez truly gave us the trip of a lifetime. We will for sure be back to Baycienda.

Tom is a great VRBO owner to deal with
We did not stay with Tom yet, but he was great and understanding leading up to a trip we had to cancel due to the current crisis. We can't wait to stay with him and make our second trip to the beautiful island of Eleuthera .

Beautiful stay at Baycienda!
The view is beautiful, the house is great, and the location is perfect. We had a small family reunion and this was a great place. There was plenty of space and bedrooms are separated from living room/kitchen. This is nice when you have a group making noise at different times. We used the boat to go fishing, but we stayed in the harbor and didn't catch many fish. We swam around the docks and the turtles and fish were very friendly. We also saw starfish, eels, and a small shark at different times. The vehicle was not running very well, so we could only use it for short trips. We had to use a rental car to go down to the southern part of Eleuthera, but Tom Jones was very helpful with this. Ashley, the caretaker, was very helpful and available when needed. There were no bugs and the everything was very clean.

The goodThis property is sprawling and sleeps 8-10 easy. We loved having 3 separate full bathrooms. The split plan is very cool with all the bedrooms on one side, and the kitchen, family, and dining on the other side. All connected by an outdoor courtyard. The Bay is stunning and teeming with wildlife. Sea Turtles, Sting Rays, Grouper, Snapper, Star Fish etc.. all at your back door. The boat that is included is a great extra. The service provided was also excellent. Tom the owner is extremely responsive, and the property manager onsite is excellent. The consThe air conditioners struggle to keep the bedrooms comfortable during the day. Forget an afternoon nap, the rooms are so warm because of the afternoon sun beaming in.There are so many bugs it is crazy. Flys, Mosquitos, Locusts, beattles, you name it they are abundant. Not a big deal for me but the kids were always worried. The kitchen is in need of some upgrades, it is probably 30 years old or more. I would assume a winter stay would be more comfortable as the A/C would be more efficient and bug population would be cut in half easy. Overall I would recommend this place if you dont have little kids who are scared of bugs, and you are okay with a kitchen that is not very modern and needs some updating.. We had a good time and the property was really in such a good location on the water that outweighs the other stuff. I mean that is the reason you go to the Bahamas.

Amazing vacation!!
Had a wonderful time and enjoyed all that Baycienda has to offer. The views and water were outstanding. The use of the boat and toys added to a truly amazing vacation. Our host Harry couldn’t do enough to assist our family with all our needs. We look forward to visiting again soon.

We just returned from our first visit to Eleuthera and had an amazing stay at Baycienda. We could have chosen a more modern property with fancy granite countertops and a dishwasher, but our vacation wouldn't have been nearly as memorable. First, the hosts were fantastic. Tom, the owner picked us up at the airport after a long travel day and greeted us warmly, as if we were family. He showed us around the property, pointed us to restaurants and steered us towards a nearby lagoon with a rope swimg we kayaked/paddleboarded to with the boys. When the boat had a minor issue, he had someone out that night to fix it and took my husband on a ride to Harbor Island, about 10 minutes away by boat, and showed him where he parks. We were sad to see Tom leave a few days into our stay, but he flew his friend Harry in and he was just as great. He took us out on the boat to fish, with his personal fishing rods and bait, and made sure that both of our boys got to reel in some fish with him - they were thrilled! And, he took us to a special spot to find some conch shells, which turned into a great fishing spot for us. What an amazing experience! Our 5-year-old would love one more day fishing with Harry! He also took my husband snorkeling and fishing while the boys napped. Both Harry and Tom were there as much or as little as we wanted, even joining us for an occasional meal. As for the property - the negatives are like a hotel - some of the beds are more comfortable than others, there are some cracks in the walls, and some chipped paint, and some of the doors have trouble sliding, but none of that mattered to us. Our boys loved playing in the pool and feeding turtles and fish from the dock. They got to see sting rays, barracuda, starfish, needlefish and even sharks swim right past the dock! We made most of our breakfasts and lunches at the house and the big open floor plan was great for us. We played games every night in the "great room" overlooking the water. The view from the property was even better than we imagined. We loved the location - about 20 minutes from restaurants and a couple of shops in Gregory Town, half of which is a rough island dirt road, but fine. We spent about half of every day around the house and explored nearby the other half. I wish I could write more!Tom and Harry, thank you for your hospitality, especially with the boys and my mom. It didn't go unnoticed. We can't wait to return! Shannon (and family)

Baycienda 😍
We had a fantastic time at Baycienda this year, it was our first trip out of the states with the kids and having the vehicle included as well as the boat was brilliant! The house is great for families, the layout of living space separate from bedrooms is perfect for early risers but also for sleepers! Having the kids be able to fish off the dock every morning (while watching the sea turtles swim around) and then paddle down to the lagoon in the kayak and on paddle boards Tom provides to swing off the rope swing was incredible! We took the boat to Harbor Island twice for lovely dinners and a day on the pink sand beach! Tom was incredibly helpful and a great host—offers the inside scoop on where to go and what to do, which is priceless! Just one note—the grocery store and liquor stores are close to the airport and I would recommend hitting those on your way to the house if you can (especially if traveling with kids)—there are some basics at the gas station in Gregory Town and you can go to the store on Harbor Island too in the boat (this one is great for produce) but the house is somewhat remote in terms of stores/restaurants in general. Daddy Joes is a great local restaurant option but still about 15 minute drive! Loved this place and Tom and will certainly return!

Great views from the house! Great hospitality!
We enjoyed our stay at the Baycienda! The hospitality is great. We could tell Tom (and his friend Harry who stopped by for a few weeks to help on some tasks) were attentive to our needs. They have warm personalities and gave great advice on many different aspects of the place and the surrounding area. The place is a little "tired" but again comfortable and functional. We would stay there again. Thanks Tom and Harry for the great stay.

The perfect vacation
We had a fairly large group of 9, including 4 kids, and there was plenty of space for all of us. We really enjoyed being right on the bay, the warm water, the kayak, the paddle boards, and so much else. The house came with a boat and Tom instructed us on how to use it. Overall, I could not have wished for a better vacation.

Baycienda is an Amazing Location, Absolutely Wonderful Experience! with an Extremely Helpful Host!
Our Family of 9 totally enjoyed our one week stay at Baycienda in Whale Point in June 2017. From the time we were greeted at the Airport by Tom Jones we were made to feel welcome in his Waterfront Home! He has a wealth of knowledge of the Bahamas and everyone on the Island knows him. The property is just as represented on VRBO. The sea life right at the dock was amazing. We snorkeled with turtles, numerous types of fish and a couple of nurse sharks. My grandchildren ages 6; 10 and 18 all were amazed and felt very comfortable swimming right off the dock. We also explored a lagoon just a few minutes away that was amazing. It could be reached by wading in the water or taking the paddle boards which the owner provides, also a big hit! We used the Suburban to travel to the Supermarket as we prepared most of our meals. We did venture out to The Glass Window Bridge Bar & Grill a couple of nights for dinner which we also thoroughly enjoyed and our Big Night out was at Daddy Joe's with Live Music on Sunday night. Another plus was the use of the Boat. We traveled by boat to Harbour Island and spent some time on the Beautiful Beach there and purchased some fresh fish for dinner. The Fishermen in our group enjoyed a few Fishing trips and caught enough fish for dinner one day. We also explored the Queens Bath and took the ferry to Spanish Wells. Another plus is the small pool located on property and the Spectacular Sunsets! Our family will treasure the good times and memories we made at Baycienda! Thanks Tom!

Home At Éleuthera
The house is very well situated with a beautiful view.
What an experience swimming with turtles and fish.
The owner is very welcoming and sympathetic.
However, the house needs upkeep and could be cleaner.
It remains a good choice for the Bahamas considering the value for money.

Wow! Amazing!
What a beautiful place. You never have to leave the house, everything's there. Green/blue Caribbean water with turtles, fishes, starfish right by the dock..few steps from the house. Beautiful sunset and sunrise everyday. The owner, Tom Jones was very helpful.
Do bring bug spray, lots of bugs.

Great secluded property!
Travelled with a group of friends to Baycienda and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The included use of the boat and the suburban made exploring simple and fun. Lots of great snorkeling in the bay. Would certainly reccommend!

AMAZING WATERFRONT ESTATE!
Baycienda offers everything a family vacation should: Private Dock, garden pool, right on the bay, boat and car to go exploring. The house is equipped with all of your needs and if you are lucky enough to be there when the owner is in town, you are in for a real treat. He has done and seen it all in the Bahamas! Our family makes this spot a yearly priority!

You'll Be Hard Pressed to Find Better
Moments after we met the owner of this outstanding property at the airport in North Eleuthera (minutes from the home) he introduced himself as "Uncle Tom". Anyone who knows anything about the 'family islands' knows that personalities abound, and Uncle Tom is one unforgettable gentlemen. Warm, friendly and overly accommodating are just a few of the countless adjectives one could bestow upon him. Sure, I could wax poetic for hours about the home's great open floorplan allowing memorable family meals overlooking the bay replete with turtles, rays and sunrises that would make Homer Winslow blush, or I could tell you about the well-suited and appointed boat that is available for use that allows for great flats fishing or a easy 10minute jaunt to Briland, or I could spin the same tales of adventure and intrigue that fill North Eleuthera like a high tide....but none of that is as important as WHO you rent from and the CONDITION of the property - for these two elements often make or break a trip to one of the many out islands. You will be hard pressed to find a more consummate gentlemen in all of the Bahamas and even harder pressed to find a property that is cared for like a grandchild-on-a-grandfather’s-lap.
The home sits on a great peninsula which offers beautiful view of the bay and the ocean, superb access to Harbour Island and sincere food shopping within a 15minute ride. The home is expansive with a massive courtyard, a hand dug freshwater plunge pool, hammocks under palms besides the water's edge and a circular grass driveway that is just excellent for playing soccer or for drying seashells. The peninsula is quiet with less than a 1/2 dozen full-time residents, it is private, secluded and I'm absolutely sure the golden-orange starfish in the bay outnumber humans 20 to 1. What’s not to love. We miss you dearly Uncle Tom! Looking forward to sharing a Kalik with you soon enough. - Paul & family.

A Slice of Heaven
This is the perfect combination of secluded beauty and access to Harbour Island, the most remarkable resort town in the Bahamas. The layout (all bedrooms in one building separated by a courtyard from the living area) lends itself to great flexibility to allow celebrating and resting at once. The views are spectacular on both the ocean and Caribbean sides. There are schools of fish teeming under the dock and a small pool on-site so you have your choice between salt and freshwater swimming. We have had tremendous fun deep sea fishing and, most recently, spearfishing using pole spears (very challenging but we got the hang of it after a few times!) Your owner Tom Jones is known and loved throughout the Bahamas, and is wonderful about helping his guests enjoy themselves as much as possible. Boats are available for hire and the short trip over to Harbour Island ("BRI-land", to the natives) is gorgeous. There you will enjoy fresh conch salad prepared on the beach, fun restaurants and clubs, and beautiful pink-hued Bahamian homes. I have been back to Baycienda many, many times and hope I am lucky enough to visit many, many more!!

True Island Living
We just returned from 15 days on this wonderful island. Baycienda on Whale Point has a spectacular setting. It has room for 8 (10 if someone sleeps on the futon in the living room but it is very firm). A guest cottage is also available. The sleeping pavilion has 1 King Bedroom, with attached full bath, with a fantastic view of the Bay. We woke up with the sun and view of the water right from bed! The two queen bedrooms also have water views and two full bathrooms. The 4th bedroom has two twin beds and opens onto the courtyard. Each room has a personal a/c unit. Across the courtyard is the main living area with a completely open kitchen, living and dining area. Massive glass doors open on the south and west sides. The kitchen is adequately stocked with utensils and spices (we left what we didn't use and it appears most others do the same). No sense in wasting! The washer and dryer are in the cottage so must be shared if both units are occupied. The dock and boat and Tahoe were huge bonuses. The remote beaches require some fun 4x4 exploring!Totally adds to the adventure. Tom has built a small reef under the dock so we had everything from turtles to Rays to eels for our personal enjoyment. Cistern Cay is due west from the house and is a 2 minute boat ride for some spectacular snorkeling. Go at high tide and anchor on the SE side of the rock. The water for the house is rain water caught and stored in a cistern. Great for showering but be conscientious of it's limited supply! Bought bottled water for drinking. Power outages can be frequent but there is a generator if it lasts too long. The house is clean and comfortable but not fancy. Sometimes things just don't work. Maybe they will later, maybe they won't. There are several restaurants within 15 minutes. Daddy's Joe's is just across the Glass Window Bridge and has great food. A little farther down is Rainbow Inn. Worth the drive. Be careful driving after dark if the humidity is high. Take a towel in the car to clean off the windows as they can get steamy!! The Bluff (NW of Texaco) has a huge grocery store by island standards. Reasonable prices too. Take the boat up to Harbour Island, tie up at Gov't Dock (get gas here too). Rent a golf cart from the many places on the island and then explore. Definitely get bug spray for the No-See-Ums. Took allergy pills for the itching which seemed to help. Whale point is a great starting point for adventures North or South! Would definitely return! Thanks Tom!
