Fint och snyggt rum, autentisk japansk känsla
Väldigt kallt i hela rummet, och då ska det ändå vara sviten. Iskallt i badrummet då det var halvöppna fönster som ej gick att isolera. AC var dålig i sovrummet.

it wasn’t very clean in the room, it was very expensive for what it was and the cook was smoking inside everywhere. The food wasn’t good at all and was scared to get sick based on the lack of cleanliness of it all, especially the cook.

The food was good and a great value for the money.
The garden is beautiful and room clean.
The Staff is very nice and helpful.
There was a quite strong wood/moss smell in the room, we were tired from our trip so we didn't mention it immediately.
The next day the owner said the rooms were remodeled recently so it could be that.

Look like haunted house. If you’re in for a scare you should try this place
Place smells. Location is horrible. Totally different from the listing photos! I felt cheated. Am asking booking.com to explain to me and asking for a refund. How can you post photos to cheat guests!

It provides a great feel of old school japan but is very limited on confort, if solo you have shared bathroom vacilities 2 toilets with one shower,.
When ordering breakfast it was not informed that it would be served in the resturant, so was cold when investigating. Not lose to any landmarks but they are a bus away. second time i have stayed there tho so worth a go, all the floor sitting and stuff is a nice change and feel
Limitations on facilities an enjoyment factors

the Japanese garden were carefully taken care of and is very beautiful, giving old Japan vibes. staff was very very friendly, they also speak enough English to guide us and make us feel comfortable. The kaiseki was top notch, I ate so much but still want to have more. The room is not the newest but it is clean, organized and comfortable. overall I had a great time, it was definitely the highlight of my trip.

loved everything about this place. i actually booked a room with a shared bathroom but the owner very kindly upgraded me. there is free parking and a restaurant. great location to explore kyoto. i like the distance outside as it is a bit on the edge of central kyoto.
nothing!

The area was very peaceful and quiet. The futons were comfortable and the room was clean. I came by car and I was able to use the car park for free. I like exercising, so I walked to Arashiyama (it took about 45 minutes on foot). But I think you can rent some bicycles, so it would probably only take 25-30 minutes by bicycle. If you enjoy exercising, it might be a good opportunity for you to stay here.
It was quite far from the centre of town (but I expected this and I drove, so that wasn't a big deal). The pillow was a little hard and had beans in it (but I think that this type of pillow is quite standard in many hotels in Japan, so maybe I have to get used to it).

It was very clean and the garden is gorgeous. the staff was wonderful
This isn’t really a “ryokan” or a hotel more like a house turned into an Airbnb.

Thanks again Yamazaki san and staff!

The futon beds was comfy. Our room was in perfect location, overseeing the garden.

Mr. Yamazaki is a very forthcoming host with a good command of the English language. The japanese breakfast/food offered is fantastic and reasonably priced. The ryokan is located in a mountainous part of the Kyoto outskirts, so the air is nice and fresh, but make sure to use the thick covers provided with the futons as it will get rather cold at night. The air conditioning does a good job of mitigating this issue, but it will be a bit noisy. The staff has been very helpful and friendly throughout our stay and we were allowed to stay past our check-out time to wait for our clothes to dry. The garden in the center of the ryokan is a marvel to behold and the last checkmark on what is an authentic japanese experience through and through. Unbeatable in this price range and more than worth what we paid.

The traditional style, the very kind staff.
The location is not bad, as it is a place of nature and quiet. The problem is the transport to there.
