Parking a bit hit and miss to get close to the property but not really a problem

well appointed, quiet and a good location. Nicely furnished. just the right size for us and excellent central location near to all shops, pubs and takeaways.

great location and had everything we needed, including a nice log burner

Central location. Great for food and drink, supermarkets nearby. Clean and welcoming. Easy to find, free car parking on road. Church was nice, overlooking graveyard which gave good atmosphere. No foot traffic past the windows in 3 days we were here. Kitchen was well stocked with facilities and utensils if self catering. Bed very comfy, slept well each night
We arrived on cold and foggy afternoon. Cottage felt cold. Heating took a while to get going, but once log fire was lit, felt better. Perhaps a few extra towels wouldn't go amiss

Absolutely beautiful cottage in the perfect town centre location, so just seconds from shops, restaurants and takeaways. Whilst there was no designated parking space, we had no problems at all parking on the road. Unusual location being in the church grounds with a graveyard as a 'garden' but we loved it! Certainly not noisy neighbours! The cottage itself had everything you could possibly need which we all thought was very thoughtful. Nice comfy beds and stylist furnishings throughout. There had recently been a leak causing a bit of damage to the bathroom floor but the host popped by to explain but it certainly wasn't as issue. The cottage was warm and cosy. The information book left in the cottage was really useful with maps of good walks to do to see the best of the area.
I really can't fault any part of our stay here!

location
Poor cleanliness. Really no effort made to clean property and I took pictures for proof. House smelt of damp and lots of dirt in cupboards and carpet. There was no welcome pack or any washing liquid to clean with. Plates were cracked. One towel in bathroom was ripped and shabby. There was one half used toilet roll. Have stayed in this area in the past 7 years and have never been so disappointed or felt I wanted to go home early just to sit on a clean sofa. Loved the area and location but absolutely would not return or recommend. The very least I expect from a holiday cottage is a clean one. Cobwebs were stuck to the backs of skirting and on light fixtures and carpet was full of dirt and dead bugs. I had to wash plates and cutlery and glasses before use. It said a lot about the owners of this property that it is just a money spinner and have absolute no interest in providing a welcome to their quests. Photos of kitchen etc have been taken as proof of lack of cleanliness.

Location lovely, great refurb of a listed building (except for the bathroom) the hosts fixed the WiFi issues very quickly which was great.
The bath access is terrible .You have to stand in the bath to access the bath taps. There's no handrail or any sort of thing to grab hold of for balance in the shower. It states the shower is over the bath but to have no handle at all meant no bath or shower for my mum and only one for hubby..... Both not disabled but do need a hand rail or some sort of aid for balance.

Church Cottage is well situated in the heart of Barnard Castle. It is spacious and very comfortable. The hosts Ashley and Angela did everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

The cottage location was perfect, apart from no onsite parking. It was 2 minutes from the centre of the lovely market town of Barnard Castle but situated behind the noisy road facing the lovely St Mary's church & was so peaceful.
a better toaster, instructions for the appliances (had to bother the owners for this information). All the tables felt sticky on the surfaces.
4.5
Cottage small and cozy, quiet except for Church bells at times. Location perfect for walking to the town centre and the restaurants. Great walks to Egglestone Abbey from the graveyard, easy cheap parking across the road £1.50 a day.

Cosy cottage in lovely setting
No washing up .iquid or dishwasher tablets
