We used this hotel to break our journey to Stansted Airport which was perfect & value for money

From the front looks like a nice olde worlde property. The man on reception was cheerful and obliging and tried his best to put things right.

All rooms are annexed to the main building linked by a long corridor and in complete need of full renovation. The rooms are bleak, dated, with stained carpets, fusty smelling. The valance on the bed was stained . The bedding was changed on request but I’m afraid the room very sub-standard so we vacated.

Hotel was looking tired although there were signs saying it was being redecorated. The gardens were very overgrown making it appear on first site from car park that hotel was closed.

The staff were really friendly and helpful.

There were some teenagers hanging about right outside the hotel which wasn’t very pleasant. They need to be moved on.

Very good

Ali was very helpful while we checked in, and made sure we had everything we needed. The pub and the restaurant were really good and reasonably priced. Close to tesco and another restaurant that has good breakfast (both within walking distance)

Visited this hotel for 20 years. Never known it having a revamp

Sheets were clean, big double bed was comfortable

Steps everywhere. Cold corridors. Wi-Fi didn’t work and tv kept stopping. Bathroom was dated and had black mould, shower was poor. Windows didn’t seal properly and were misting up in between the panes. Electric points were nowhere near the bed

radiator only warm had additional oil heater on full, room was still cold. window sliding door was out of the guides couldn’t open it. bed wasn’t the best

Great place to stay!

Lovely, clean, quiet and comfy. We normally stay at the Ibis or Travel lodge but never again! The Roebuck was perfect! We really enjoyed our stay and will be staying here in future when we stay in Stevenage!

Friendly staff.

When we arrived there was no heating, the barman got permission to light a fire but it was inadequate. Tried to have a meal in the restaurant but it was too cold so went to the bar. The Indian meal was very bad and inedible. The owner was around but he had a wax jacket on and a scarf! The other customers also kept their jackets on. At £70 a night it was grossly over priced and we will not be going back again, Wish we'd stayed at the Premier Inn it would have been far superior and cheaper!!

the bed was clean

everything else just had a grubby air about it and the carpets were filthy .. and we had to sleep with the smell of cannabis coming from the room next to us . we thought i was taking my special needs daughter to a special hotel... i should have gone to a motel

Never again until completely revamped

Andrew on reception could not have been more polite and helpful.

It has not had any maintenace in years and still absolutely stinks of smoke. The smell got into my clothes to the extent that I had to wash them as soon as I got home. Furniture, carpets and cutains all need to be binned and the room re-painted.

it was clean and a good price. the receptionist on arrival was helpful and friendly

the room and mmmm was very dated and the bed wasn’t comfortable. there was no one around when I left at just after 8am this morning
