really nice location, overlooking the river. nice to have a hammock on the balcony. hosts were really accommodating & helpful, they came to meet us from the boat.

Beautiful huge villa/room with ensuite bathroom. Fabulous view from private balcony. You cannot really be "out of town" in this tiny village but it was probably one or the furthest guesthouses from the boat dock (5 minute stroll, if that). Everything you need food wise is within that 5 minute stroll! Owners speak excellent English and will meet you as you come off the boat.
Hard to think of anything negative😃.

Comfortable bed, gorgeous riverside view, very fun and helpful staff. The Swedish-Lao couple who own this, also own Penny's Restaurant near the boat pier, which serves the best breakfast in town.

Everything was on point. It was very quiet, with a great view, plenty of hot water, and a comfortable bed. The host was very helpful. Excellent value for money.
I recommend providing a drinking water dispenser so people don't have to generate plastic waste. The Wi-Fi worked well when it was on, but it was off about half the time during my stay.

Good location, great views, the owner Gabriel was helpful and sorted out the problem with the room booking, great value for money, typical Laos accommodation, good and basic. Comfy bed and warm shower.
No signs for the property, the location on the map was completely wrong, we actually stayed in the Riverside as our twin room booking was not available! A kettle in the room would have been good! Usual standard of rubbish and hygiene around the property.

Lovely spacious and clean room, such a comfy mattress and hot water with good pressure. I was met at the pier by Pheng who was so friendly and welcoming! Great view of the river from the balcony!

I loved the location, the bungalow was at the end of the main street so it was pretty quit up there. And the mountain view was stunning. Also, Gabriel was waiting for me at the pier when I arrived by boat, very attentive!
Maybe some roosters will wake you up, but that’s just how it is ;)

Gabriel gave stand-out local advice and was a pleasure to chat with. Penny has a great sense of humor.
The view from the balcony rooms is wonderful.
Rooms are very quiet, other than the roosters you can hear anywhere/everywhere in town. I'll never complain about sounds of nature vs sounds of other people.
Probably where the extra cost of the property kicks in is the best feature of the room--natural gas heat on the shower. It can get scalding hot if your aren't careful. One of the hottest showers I've had in SE Asia.
Most expensive spot in town. Having spent a week in Muang Ngoy and getting to know folks around town, local & other travelers (and seen their rooms & homes), the property doesn't offer much more than the other options in town.
Breakfast buffet while offering an impressive amount of items (which Penny & Gabriel have memorized a rambling list of to tell you on check-in), would probably be a lot higher quality if they limited the amount of items and instead made to-order food from a limited menu. I chose to eat breakfast elsewhere almost every morning, even for a higher cost.
That said, I booked for 1 night and I think I ultimately stayed something like 6 nights. I didn't think it was an unrealistic price to ask, other travelers I was with at other locations in town though thought I was crazy to keep adding extra nights there versus moving to a cheaper, comparable spot.

The room was okay. The bed was comfy and there is a fan so it’s great. There is hot water in the shower so it’s nice.
For me the place was a little bit far from the boat station. The room wasn’t really clean I mean there were spiderweb on the ceiling otherwise the sheets were clean. I just expected more cleanliness for the prices

Host waited for me at the pier and kindly helped with the luggage to the hosting premise and provided some useful info.
The room was really basic in an isolated corner of the property. There was a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom that really made me feel uncomfortable for potential visits of insects or worse. There was no reception office or any service at the this property. I was told by host to find him if needed at his base property at 5 min walking distance. Photos of the option I have chosen did not correspond to the accommodation I was assigned. Probably it was the cheapest option on this property but for the same price you can get much better accommodation in Muang Ngoy. The day after for even less I got the bamboo bungalow with wonderful view over the river.
