Fall in love with Isle La Motte! Explore a unique, unspoiled corner of Vermont. There is truly something magical about the beauty and quiet of this place.
The spacious house is situated on one acre, with 100 feet of lakefront access and a stunning view to New York’s northern Adirondacks. A deck with chairs overlooking the lake provides a space to relax. A private dock, shared with a cottage on the same property, provides direct access to the lake, and a swim raft will provide hours of fun for the swimmers. A private mooring (installed in 2019) will hold your boat. Four kayaks, a canoe, and a stand up paddleboard are available for your use, with personal flotation devices available. A game room in a detached converted garage will lure the young at heart with ping pong, air hockey, and foosball tables. Swings, a variety of lawn games, and a volleyball / badminton net will keep everybody active when they’re not in the water or out exploring the area.
The house is fully equipped for your relaxing vacation. Downstairs features a large comfortable open living area with sliding glass doors overlooking the lake and a gas fireplace for chilly evenings. A fully-equipped modern kitchen connects to a dining area with seating for 12. A kids’ play area offers games, books, art supplies, toys, and a table. A large flatscreen is equipped with Roku.
The first-floor bedroom includes a queen and a daybed with pullout trundle. A desk alcove offers a quiet work space for those who just can’t leave the real world completely behind. The large en suite bathroom includes both limited-mobility and tub showers. An additional full bath and washer / dryer are located off the kitchen.
Upstairs are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The Blue Room has a queen, a daybed, a pullout trundle, and a fantastic view over the lake. The Flower Room has a full bed with views to the lake and the back yard. The Bunk Room has one bunk bed and a cozy window seat / reading nook. All upstairs rooms are wood paneled and carpeted, with adequate storage for all your stuff and multiple windows to catch the cool evening breezes. Each room has an individual thermostat for your complete comfort. A full bath with tub shower completes the upstairs.
Local attractions and activities are almost too numerous to mention. Swim or fish right off your own private dock or head out onto Lake Champlain in a kayak or canoe. Learn the rich geologic history of the island's Chazy Reef at the Isle La Motte Historical Society. Walk along the fascinating interpretive trail through the Goodsell Ridge Fossil Preserve. Visit the haunting Fisk Quarry Preserve, right around the corner. The historic Fisk Farm is a half mile up the road. St. Anne’s Shrine at the north end of the island draws thousands of visitors every year. Five state parks and a golf course are nearby. A 30-minute drive will take you to local vineyards with frequent wine-tastings. For those wanting an urban experience, Montreal and Burlington are each about a one-hour drive, and Stowe is about 90 minutes. Hiking in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains is just across the lake. You will find a complete detailed guide to local attractions at the house.

This was our second time in this lovely lakeside vacation home, and we will definitely be back. Spacious , comfortable, well appointed living areas, stocked inside and out with everything you could possibly need. Even the rainy days brought enjoyment—the game room, books, puzzles, large screen TV, and fully outfitted kitchen gave us plenty of ways to enjoy a rainy day in paradise. Hosts Abi and Bill have thought of everything, and communications were welcoming, clear, and timely. We biked, ran, swam, boated, strolled, fished, played board games and game room games, did puzzles, read books, cooked, and watched movies. We visited the Fisk Farm Art Barn, Fisk Quarry, Goodsell Ridge Preserve to see fossils, Hero’s Welcome, and Cafe Rouge for breakfast in the Quebec village of Bedford, about an hour away (highly recommend!). We had an easy drive to and from Burlington to pick up a family member from the airport and we shopped nearby for organic groceries. I can’t say enough good things about this property, the hosts, and our stay.

You're on Island Time is a beautiful, well located property that exceeded our expectations. We had a great time enjoying all that the lake has to offer with our family especially the panoramic lake views from the house and dock. Spectacular sunsets!! We also loved the close proximity to the local restaurants and stores. Our barbecues with food from local stores were fantastic, especially "Happy Bird". You're on Island Time had everything to create a wonderful family vacation!

This is a wonderful vacation house, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is attractive, has lovely grounds, and is thoughtfully appointed. We loved the beautiful deck with its comfortable chairs and the picnic tables on the lawn. It was great to have the use of the games in the game room. Isle LaMotte itself is relaxed and scenic.
We had a big group to feed every night and it was delightful that there were always enough plates, plenty of mixing bowls and serving platters, and the right utensils for preparing meals.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

Beautiful lakefront view. House is very nicely stocked and lots of linens and great beds. All you need to do is bring food. Communication was great with the owner before and during our stay. Great sleeping space and game room for the kids and young at heart.

This is a truly beautiful property directly across the road on the water with a private dock. The house was large and comfortable with all of the amenities you could ask for! Very clean! Our host was very responsive to our emails and handled everything quickly! I highly recommend this for a family vacation!

The owners have really done everything they could think of to make the house comfortable for a week's stay: totally adequate kitchen supplies, well labeled switches & cabinets, a game room with lots to do (foosball, spanking new table tennis, etc.), a very comfortable living/dining room, outdoor deck and dock.
We have rented a number of houses on Lake Champlain over the years, and hands down this is our favorite. Hope we can organize our group to come back next year (everyone loved this house -- it'll be a challenge to find other houses in the area (we were 20 adults and a few babes) and one of the other rentals was not as 'successful', shall we say!)

We spent 5 nights here getting ready for and fishing the LCI derby. We had 6 adults and the accomdations were perfect. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms, the house was very well stocked and the location was amazing!

Great place. The house is across the road from the lake, but the road is very quiet so it is not a problem. House was clean, well stocked, quiet area, beautiful property. Well water was fine for showering/dishes/washing hands, but would suggest bringing water to drink.
Abi was extremely responsive and helpful leading up to our stay. 5 out of 5, would like to come back with my kids.

We had two families stay at this property and it was plenty of space. Based on the pictures from the listing I had no idea the yard was so big and there was so much to do inside the house with tons of games and outside in the game room. The dock was great to fish from & we took a walk, the weather was perfect and the fall colors were beautiful. We had everything we needed to cook meals at the house. We drove from Ohio and would love to come back in the summer when we can get in the water.

We were in town for a family wedding and enjoyed your beautiful, clean, convenient rental as our home base. We especially enjoyed the fireplace on a few chilly nights!

The house was incredibly well stocked, we were able to bake a cake! Plenty of activities for all ages, both inside and out. Games, puzzles, markers/paper, bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, beach chairs. Game room in the garage. The dock is nice, gorgeous views, the lake is rocky so bring water shoes. A sandy beach at near by state park, short drive away. Burlington close by for rainy days. The island is quaint, a few farm stands. Small market on the island near by. Hosts were attentive and easy to reach. Lovely stay for a family get together

We had a wonderful stay-fishing, kayaking swimming, catching frogs ,having creamies and enjoying our family —a beautiful setting- lots of things to do and play with. Excellent for children we hope to come back again!

Peaceful and Entertaining For All Ages
Our family (two adults as well as a 9 year old boy and a 7 year old girl) and a another family (two adults and three kids between 6 and 1) had a blast reuniting in this property with tons of bedrooms, bathrooms, and a large common area. It’s great to be able to step outside and enjoy the large lawn and the lake while also having the (kid approved!) game room when the weather turns unsettled. The breeze off the water is great and keeps the house nice and cool!
The street is not very busy - while there is some vehicle traffic, you can see it and hear it in plenty of time when crossing the street to the dock. The dock itself is great, offering less rocky / more sandy bottom at the far end. Definitely bring the water shoes though!
Island life means that groceries are far away, but there were great little farm stands within 10 minutes that had eggs, veggies, and smoked meats. Otherwise “real” grocery stores are 45 min away. Having two fridges was a bonus for this reason!
Abi and Bill were very accommodating and prompt to respond. We had a great time!

Fantastic rental!
This was the best place for our family to stay! Despite the dreary/rainy weather, we were able to keep everyone entertained with the garage games. The lake views were amazing especially when enjoying a cup of coffee!! We hope to come back in the summer to be able to use the kayaks!!

Baci's 80th Birthday Celebration
Couldn't imagine a better setting than this perfectly appointed house on the edge of Heaven on this beautiful island. Baci was so surprised with the setting and accomodations. Nine of us comfortably enjoyed the peace abd scenery. Thank you to the Sessions for sharing this special spot with us. We can't wait to book another weekend or longer in the future.

The Perfect Spot
My daughter and I stayed Oct 2 -8th… the house is immaculate .. ! And there was so much room … the bedroom floors are heated !! ( Amazing) & you can cook in the kitchen and look out at the view of the lake .. it’s a dream rental . Really ! The kitchen was stocked with spices and oils , coffee
filters … etc .. so all you need are the staples to
create good food at the house ..all that is listed about the house is accurate … Isle La Motte is off the beaten path .. so much to explore on the island itself - but not too far from corner store in North Hero for gas , staples and homemade baked goods . The only thing that would have made it better would be if we could stayed longer …!! See you next year !!

A great time was had by all!
Our group of mostly older (60s and 70s) family and friends all agreed that the mid-September week was the perfect weather and perfect setting for time away together. Beautiful area for biking alongside the lake, sitting on the deck to read or on the dock to fish, group dinners, moonlight in Vermont walks, just a very relaxing setting. The owners invited us to share the ripening crop of two kinds of pears, which were delicious! Isle LaMotte is a little piece of paradise.

Lovely Family Home
This house is so comfortable, perfect for our family of two adults and three teens. It is EXTREMELY well stocked with everything you could need or want. My only "criticism" would be that while the wi-fi connection is great in the living room, it is less reliable in the bedrooms. But we had very good cell service and weren't there to stare at our phones anyway. So no big deal at all. The owners were kind enough to accommodate a special request that we made, and we were very appreciative of that. Hope we can visit again in the summer months!

My husband, best friends and I stayed Thursday-Monday of the October holiday weekend. We had a great time. I loved that I could run on the crushed stone dust road (easy on my knees) and we could bike on the road with hardly any traffic. Abi had a basket of maps and things to do so we walked the Missisquoi National Refuge and biked the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail. We biked to the quarries on the island and looked for fossils. It was actually just warm enough that we could sit out on the deck and read and relax. We loved that we could store our bikes in the shed. It was too cool to take advantage of the game room. We're real foodies who love to cook so we loved that the kitchen was fully stocked not just with dishes, etc. but good pans, a very sharp knife, and the basics food stuffs-pepper, salt, etc. Loved the that the coffeepot had a single serving choice. We also used the grill. We went out to the recommended Blue Paddle and had a fabulous meal.Visitors should be prepared to drive to grocery store or off island and that it can be from 30-40 minute drives. We brought puzzles and my friend Sue and I had a wonderful time puzzling (Abi provides some puzzles as well). The guys were able to hook up and watch the football games on the big screen TV.All in all a wonderful stay. Thanks so much.

Great Family Getaway
This property is designed as a great family space with many activities, amenities, supplies, games, and spacious area for gathering. Beautiful sunsets, deck to lounge on, game room, large spacious yard, and the owners are quite friendly and responsive.

Great stay at the end of the summer.
We were six adults staying for a week, but it would be a fantastic place to bring kids. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out or gather together around the table. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed--including a griddle that we used to make pancakes. The weather didn't cooperate every day, so we made use of the game room in the garage, which was a lot of fun. The number of boats, bikes, and games was really remarkable. (Quick note: the roads are flat with very little traffic--great for easy biking.) We had a couple of things come up during our stay, but Abi was quick to communicate and had things taken care of right away. There is not a lot to do on Isle La Motte itself, but if you want a quiet vacation with a well-appointed house and a beautiful view, this should fit the bill.

Perfect getaway in the time of Covid
We desperately needed a change of scenery this summer and this home did not disappoint! The yard is enormous with a tree swing that the children loved and a volleyball net that we used for badminton. The garage full of games was well used during the rainy days. We tried out all of the boats for endless hours and the kids went fishing in the canoe and caught a fish! We swam, went hunting for fossils, went on scenic bike rides, biked to Hall’s Orchard to get some apples and cider and maple syrup. It’s a very quiet, peaceful and beautiful place. I had to do some work and sitting on the back deck with my laptop overlooking the lake was a perfect way to do it. Highly recommend.

So Relaxing
After so many months of being stuck at home, it was really nice to be somewhere else. We could not have picked a more relaxing or safer feeling place than this. Did I mention how beautiful it is? It’s that as well. The sunsets here are stunning. To quote the classic SNL character Stefon “this place has everything”. We had epic badminton battles and ping pong games. I kayaked so much I can barely hold my phone to write this review. Lastly, we got to meet owners Bill and Abi and that was a nice treat because they are very friendly and cool. We will not soon forget this week.

Perfect family spot!
We had a great fun-filled family week at this vacation spot! The house was perfect to fit for our 2 families - 4 adults and 4 kids ages 2 through 13. The house had books for all ages, games, a fun game room, and lots of beach toys to enjoy. Highly recommend this spot - we'll be back again :)

Family Weekend, Unplugged
In our family, we have a long tradition of "Mom's Adventures", planned surprises that promise fun for everyone. This adventure, the kids (19, 21, 22, 25) following directions arrived first and sent a text, "Mom, the place is amazing". The house is beautifully furnished and clean ( I'm picky) and sits on a beautiful spot along Lake Champlain. The dock has both steps into the water and a ladder on the far end for easy accessibility. The game room, in a garage just behind the house holds hours of fun. While there we swam, fished (with great success) kayaked, gathered on the floating dock, explored Fisk Art Barn and Quarry just a short walk away and played ping pong, air hockey and darts for HOURS. The sunsets were amazingly beautiful. Our last morning, while sitting on the front deck our family decided the Session's lake house is the perfect family vacation retreat for all ages, young children to grandfolk. My daughter said, " This has been the best time for us, in a long time. " Thank you Abi and Bill for everything.

Lakeside delight
This house met our needs perfectly—plenty of room, a nice open main level living area, loads of windows to let in summer breezes and the sounds of nature and passing walkers and cyclists. We loved sitting on the front porch. The game room was icing on the cake—our teenager challenged us to ping pong matches every day, and we had some fun with badminton, too. The house was well stocked with anything we might need or want, from cookware to spices and other cooking basics to books, puzzles, and games. The large TV was easy for all to see when we used it. We went in the lake every day, swimming off the dock or paddling around in kayaks. We also rode bikes, walked and ran around the island, visited Fisk Farm, Fisk Quarry, and the Goodsell Ridge Preserve, drove to Quebec one morning for breakfast, and ventured over to North Hero for a little shopping. Abi and Bill were gracious hosts and provided ample information about the house and area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Even better the second time around ...
We loved our first visit so much that we came back again this year (see my first review from August 2018)! We had another relaxing and memorable vacation, and loved the new addition of the floating dock. See you next year!

Relaxation at it's finest!
This home and location is perfect for our family of three generations! This was our second visit to this property and it felt like coming home. There is plenty of space, both in the house and yard, and a variety of indoor/outdoor games and water equipment to comfortably accommodate us and the various activities we enjoy.

Great place for a vacation
This year we were looking for a nice, quiet place to go for vacation. We found it on this nice little island. We used the kayaks and bikes that came with the rental. As well as the ping pong and other games in the game room. My son and I purchased a 3 day fishing license and we fished on a two person kayak and from the pier. We must have caught 30 or more fish and one was a 25 inch pike.
I recommend visiting the Goodsell Ridge Preserve which is about a mile away so you can learn about the fossils on the island and then go to the Fisk Farm Fossil area a few hundred yards away from the rental and find fossils that you learned about. Don't forget about the apple cider tastings, the smoked chicken pie and the ice cream and food truck (Mama Dogs) that are on the island too.
We also visited Burlington and Ausible Chasm. Both were great but Ausible was a little expensive, a bit too commercial and also a little bit of a distance.
Thank you Abi and Bill. We had a great time.
