The dinner and breakfast are 2 must have things in this Inn and the bath room has its bath tub that you can enjoy Onsen style showering. They play classic music while having dinner and breakfast which is awesome make you feel back to a golden age.
Shared bathroom make you have to get up late at night to release and you have to climb up to the location.

Hot bath and traditional B&B. The hot cooked breakfasts were excellent! Proximity to charlifts and Happo One gondola were excellent.
Walking up and down the icy driveway was hazardous. Ensure you pay via booking.com if using credit card as the vendor only takes cash despite advertising card facilities on Booking.com

An 80 meter long, steep, snow covered road leads up to the property. It is very slippery and almost totally dark at night. Cars are parked at the bottom of the hill. The property does not have a communal room so you are confined to your very small room. There are a lot of staircases to get to showers etc.
worst access to a hotel ever and I have travelled to ski in Japan for 20 years, very small room with dangerously high bunk bed, lack of communal room

Great japanese
food, made especially for each person.
Friendly and helpful staff
Traditional rooms (futon) which means you have plenty of space but need to lay out your futon before going to bed.
Only a single shower for the entire establishment

Breakfast and dinner were great home-cooked Japanese meals. For holiday/busy season travellers, this means you do not need to worry about waiting/making reservations at restaurants, and the cooking is better than most mid-tier restaurants.
For someone skiing, this stay was very convenient. Happo-One is easily walkable in ski equipment. There is also a warming/drying room. The common areas are kept very warm after ski hours (4pm) and the shower was hot.
There is a short 1-2 minute hill from the parking lot to the building that may be icy.

The property is in a fantastic location right near the base of Happo One and near many restaurants and bars. The owners are super friendly and made me feel at home. The bath tub is super big and very enjoyable as well! I highly recommend staying here.
I liked everything!

Close to the lifts, restaurants and bars. Lovely old place.
Room was a bit small.

Location was very central for Happo with close proximity to lifts and town. Room was nice with plenty of space to spread out, had beds for 4 though we only used 2. Comfortable and quiet. More traditional style worked well for us and the ski storage room was a bonus, even had a space for waxing.
Could leave better instructions for finding the Brocken Hutte. Sits behind Sokomiya Hosonosuwa Shrine, but need to go down the street and though the parking lot next to it.

Good value and simple ryokan/lodge given all the other accomodations are very expensive in Hakuba. You can have breakfast/dinner but you need to reserve before hand. Super nice owner.
They also offer ski rentals for much cheaper than a normal rental store.
might be difficult for some as you need to walk up a hill to get there.

nice and quiet, the staff were super friendly and helpful.

The staff were really nice and helped me with my stay! The room was comfortable and the location is very easy to get to Happo-one gondola

the staff are pleasant and helpful.
The location of the property it is in the uphill. When we stay it was winter, getting to property with luggages and snow gears are inconvenient.

the owner was super kind. I mean the kind that is hard to understand unless you visit. She was so attentive and clearly cared so much for her guests and their experience. I would definitely stay here again.
The walk up the hill is a bit treacherous but an alternate route through the shrine is an excellent detour. Make sure to pay the Kami or they may decide to curse you with bad luck.

vicinity to Happo One

The location was almost too perfect, a very short walk through the trees to Happo-one made mornings very convenient and the staff were so nice and helpful. The breakfast was amazing super delicious and perfect start to a day on the mountain. They had a ski/snowboard storage room with workbenches and heating room for wet gear. I had a great experience and would absolutely go again.
