We had 9 people total, including 2 “under 2,” some specific needs, and this house checked all our boxes. Also, the owner was quick to respond to all my questions, to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, enjoyed the trip and was completely satisfied with the house!
**Pros:
2 upstairs and 1 downstairs bathroom, so there was 1 accessible at all times
Pet policy allows for multiple small/medium dogs
Plenty of pots, pans, & utensils for cooking.
AC works insanely well.
Mattresses on the beds are very comfy
Direct balcony access from the downstairs bedroom and 2 of the upstairs ones.
2 grills available, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs.
Owner is very responsive and will help you out with questions. Also pretty laid-back and doesn’t have an to-do list of outrageous check-in/check-out chores.
**Cons (these are more about the DI area in general, not the house specifically, not really things the owner can control or “fix”)
The bugs on DI are AWFUL. Everywhere. A few locals mentioned that they’re usually bad, but this year was particularly bad. Bring lots of bug spray and candles if you go to DI
The walk to the beach from the house is pretty short, but it’s a tough little trek, especially if you have littles or are carrying chairs/tents/etc in a wagon. The sand is very loose all down the path, and you have to walk over a hill both ways.
Overall, really enjoyed it, and 100% would stay at this house again!

We took our first multi-generation vacation together. My husband, our son and daughter plus their spouses, our daughter's mother-in-law and our first grandbaby. Our house accommodated our needs perfectly. My favorite feature was the farmhouse dinner table. Large enough to seat all of us to eat, AND the perfect size for playing games as a group. The deck gave us a place to gather as a group, or sit quietly reading a book or just enjoy the sites and sounds of the beach. The house was the perfect blend of space and cozy to provide us with a fantastic first multi-generational vacation.
Added bonus, we had a front row seat to the island's 4th of July Fireworks on the beach!

The house has damages and no clean

House okay but cleaning crew needs to be fired!! We all wondered if our bedding had been changed because of cookie or cracker crumbs found on top of one of the beds. The tablecloth was nasty. Front of appliances all needed cleaning.
Items listed in description were not available; i.e. grill, chairs, bikes, etc.

We enjoyed our visit to Dauphin Island tremendously! Our beach house was exactly as pictured. It was a wonderful process from booking to check out. The host, Gavin, was very responsive to any inquiries I had and made our trip easy breezy. We loved the porches and cozy beds. We found everything we needed available in this home. The walk to the beach was a nice stroll and quick access. Many new memories were made and we definitely enjoyed some peaceful relaxation! We will definitely be back!

We have always wanted to stay in one of these beach houses, and we had so much fun. The beach is a short walk from the house, and you can clearly see the ocean from both floors of the two story deck. There’s a grill and picnic table on the deck with some nice patio couches and Adirondack chairs.
The house is perfectly suited for multiple families with kiddos. There is a main floor master and another bedroom with an en suite plus three bedrooms with bunk beds upstairs. It was nice to have a washer and dryer, and there were plenty of dishes, cooking utensils, towels, extra pillows, etc.
A couple tips:
- Grocery shopping is expensive on the island, so we stopped closer to Mobile on our way.
- It’s a good idea to bring extra toilet paper, paper towels, ziploc bags, and trash bags. We used more than was there, but we had ten people in our group.
- We also brought some dish tabs and tide pods so we could run the dishwasher and do laundry.
- Expect to be active if you stay here. Lots of stairs and walking the dunes to get to the beach. Dragging our beach wagon was a pain, and I was wishing we’d brought our bag cooler.
The owner was super helpful and communicative, which is always appreciated. The island is beautiful and there are several parks and historic sites a short drive away. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Dauphin Island.

Just wrapped up my trip for spring break. The house was great and comfortably slept 16. Beach is about a 3 minute walk at most, the beach was also great for relaxing and activities. Would recommend staying here for all types of events.
Only advise for future guests:
- bring toilet paper
- bring dishwasher soap
- bring laundry pods
The house had enough for us to get settle the first day but we ran out pretty quickly. The listing might even say that but it wasn’t a big deal, we just didn’t plan for that. The store is a 5 minute drive and has all of those items. The host also had great communication and a very easy check in. Would definitely come back.
Also when ur here get Pirates Pizza and Wings, it’s an absolute 10/10

Not on the beach but a short walk down the trail between the homes. Nice place to have a little get-away. We had 4 adults and 5 kids between 4-15 and had plenty of room for everyone.

Great porches to hang out on - perfect for our family

The house was amazing. Even bigger than we expected. Short walk to the beach and short drive to restaurants and shops. Had everything we needed. Will definitely be booking here again in the future.

Great location
The house is good for a group
-each of the 3 bathrooms only had 1/2 a roll of TP
- the house wasn’t overly clean and needs some updating.
- many lights were flickering
- light switches were broken
- the outside stairs could use a light for visibility
- the kitchen cups were limited
- the house rocks with the wind

Our biggest complaint was hidden fees. The house we chose said it slept 16 in the advertisement. When we booked it, I had to pay 420.00 extra for guests. When asked the renter said there was a 10 dollar fee for anyone staying over 6 people. When asked why he said it was a standard in the industry. This is crap to me. If a house says it holds 16, any number up to 16 should be included. Certainly not only 6. If that were the case I would not have paid for a house that held 12 as we had. I would have booked a house that help 6. In addition I certainly could have told the renter I only had 6 people and saved 420 dollars. Complete deception in all of our opinions. I would certainly expect a refund for 420.00 and would like to have a better explanation. Also this should be very clear in the add.

This house is a short walk to a beautiful beach. The home is clean and spacious. The furniture was in excellent condition. Plenty of dishes, pots, pans, etc.

This house worked perfect for the week. We had 28 people in our family total so 14 stayed in this house and another 14 rented the house next door that the backyard touches.
This house slept our 14 comfortably. The decks, views and short walk to the beach cant be beat.
The washer and dryer in the house was very convenient. House had everything we needed and we all agreed the beds were extremely comfortable as well as the porch furniture.

Loved the beach and the atmosphere-wonderful area for families

The house needs some TLC. The refrigerator stunk like fish so bad. The air conditioner vents dripped on people’s beds. The hammocks hanging below the house were ripped and dangerous so we took them down. The lighting for stairs up to the house were mostly burnt out. Our family loved the area and loved the ocean, beaches and rented golf cart. Will rent in the area again but probably not this house.

Ideal for FAMILY or large group making memories. Apples to Apples, kayak provided, fully stocked kitchen, views of the beach, decks for sunrise and sunsets, and a super bed for everyone up to 14. We even had one choose the couch. TVs with connection to Netflix etc in all but one bedroom. Hammocks under the house were the favorite for my 11 year old autistic son. We used sand toys and intertubes to ride the waves!
Funny story I booked the wrong night and with a midnight 'save us' call to the owner at MIDNIGHT he found another property for ALL of us for the one night!! Gavin as a hosts reminds me why we ONLY choose STRs now. Thank you for going above and beyond. Dauphin Island took a piece of our hearts this week! We hope to return someday to find it again.

Loved being here and would love to go back some time. The beach is incredibly open and private! No overcrowding and the island is perfect! Loved staying at the house, had plenty of room for everyone.

Short walk to the beach! Love the decks and deck furniture at this house! Great place to relax and unwind! Second time we have stayed there.

Really enjoyed the decks and furniture; 5 stars for that. Kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Appliances seemed to work fine. Beds ok. Communication with owner seemed to be lacking. Pictures need to be updated: brand new grill was unusable, and no bikes available are just two examples. Also, access to beach from this road is blocked off, have to detour. Very quiet spot!

This property has a lot going for it...it is a quick walk to the beach, and amazing sunrises can be seen from the decks. The covered decks make for a wonderful place to hang out and relax and eat breakfast at the picnic table. The kitchen was a bit "sticky" so we washed everything before we used it. Other than that, it was a perfect stay!

We rented on Dauphin Island because we like it but also because we waited too late to book Gulf Shores or Destin. It was great for our family, and it was not crowded. If you want to go to Gulf Shores, I think you can catch the ferry to Ft Morgan. We didn’t. There were 11 of us; too many to go out to eat easily during July 4th week. The kitchen accommodated us to fix meals. The big table was great for playing games at night and during rainy periods. The deck catches the breezes and the view. We had something that needed fixing mid-week. Within 30 min to 1 hour, the owner had the repair men there and they fixed the issue right away. Very responsive owner. The house is big enough to be together but also big enough for alone time. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much to the homeowner for sharing your beach house with us! Patty Smith

My friends and I stayed here to celebrate our college graduation. It was so awesome! The neighbors are friendly, fun things to do on the island and a perfect location to the beach! We will be coming back.

It was clean, quiet and had plenty of room. The bunk bed room is a bit tight but great for kids. The only complaint was beyond the homeowners ability. The mosquitoes were pretty bad on our walks to and from the beach. Had to go buy bug spray but we all have many bites.

needs work, cleaning and updating
With the exception of the exterior decks (which are large, covered and mostly well-furnished), this house and the furnishings are in poor condition. The exterior of the house is damaged (during our stay, a large piece of partially detached aluminum trim constantly banged against the house) - and other trim and siding were damaged or missing. The walls and floors are worn and damaged -- holes and marks throughout the house. The furniture is old and dirty (the chair and couch in the living room and the mattress in the master bedroom are in terrible condition). The appliances are all in poor condition (and mismatched). The pots and pans, plates, bowls and flatware are also in terrible condition and largely unusable -- and the coffee pot is a mess (we opted not to use it). The house also needs a thorough cleaning - the cleaning staff had at best done a superficial cleaning job. The entry area under the house was littered with damaged and rusty beach chairs and equipment scattered everywhere, along with a disgusting grill, and miscellaneous junk. The views from the decks would have been good except several of the other surrounding houses were in poor condition or under repair and there was a giant "Pods" container directly in the sight-line to the beach. And it appears that the owners of the house nearest the beach access believe that it is not a public access and were in the process of blocking it off during our stay -- there was loud construction taking place during our entire stay. The "street" in front of the house was flooded during our entire stay (even though it was sunny the first two days of our stay). After the storms started, the street became so flooded that it was almost impassable. We left a day early--and regret the entire stay.
