The property and the view were incredible. The property management company were helpful and responsive. Great stay, definitely would come back!

Went here for a ski trip with friends and had an amazing time. The view is even more spectacular in person and the pool table was a great place to hang out after hitting the slopes!

The welcome book says we have access to amenities for $15 per person which was not true.
“Included with your rental are two guest cards providing access to the amenities available in Tahoe Donner. Each guest card allows access for up to four guests over the age of 6. While this can change, guest access fees are currently $15 per person per day.”
Included in this list of amenities are donner downhill ski resort so we planned our Sunday to get ready for a ski day. We're all geared up and when we get there they tell us the lift ticket is $86 per person even with the guest card. If we had known it was $86 we wouldn't have wasted our Sunday getting ready. We would have planned for something else. We turned around and went back to the house to play in the yard.
Secondly there was a water leak coming from the ceiling in the downstairs tv room.

One of the best vacation house I visited. It has everything you need: heated floors, a lot of restroom, a lot of space, BBQ grill, hot tub outside, two hot tubs inside, pool table, fusbol table, internet, TVS.
Without the view this place is a 5 star place already. Unfortunately I can't give more than 5 stars. I definitely recommend this place.

The good:
1. The view! It is a spectacular setting.
2. This place is huge with generous common areas and easily accommodates multiple families.
3. The hot tub, pool table, and foosball were loved by all guests
4. The hill right outside our backdoor was perfect for sledding
The less good
1. It seems like one day isn't enough time to turn a house this big around between guests--when we came there were linens in the dryer and a huge load of dishes in the dishwasher. It took us a day to figure out why there weren't enough towels or dishes.
2. This may seem minor, but we came in the evening ready to cook dinner and there wasn't any salt. This meant we had to spend 40 minutes (20 minutes there and back) in the snow driving to Truckee to buy salt. We left some for the next guests, but this seems an important item to provide for the price point of this place. Most guests would expect salt, sugar, maybe cooking oil? None of that was there, so come prepared for anything.
3. Although the kitchen had almost everything we needed, the organization was chaotic and it took us a while to get it all sorted out. Items are old and need updating (e.g., broken tea kettle)
4. This place feels like a rental without the special touches owners who visit frequently would consider or provide.
5. We were snowed in and snowed out (e.g., we couldn't get back home after skiing) because the street is the last to be snowplowed and then the snow in the driveway was too high to get out on New Year's Eve even after multiple guests shoveling on and off all day. All this is not the fault of the rental company, it's just something to know if you stay here--the location is a double edged sword in that it is spectacular, but can be hard to reach if there's a storm. I wish we'd paid more attention to the weather so we'd realized we wouldn't be able to get in or out for most of a day. That being said, we were there for a huge storm, so our circumstances were likely unusual! And again, I don't think I would have any of these complaints if the place weren't so expensive.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we would recommend it.

We had a great experience with the cabin. Great view, beautiful interior, and just very comfortable and relaxing. We loved it.

We stayed there for 4 days. It had everything that we needed for our little getaway with our friends and family. Each of the couples had our own room with a nice full bathroom. The only complaint we have is the kitchen utensils which were quite disorganized and we couldn’t find one pair of scissors. 😊

This was our second stay at this lovely home. Stayed here in 2019 too. Intend to stay here again. We have stayed in a number of premium vacation rentals across the western US, so when we spend 15K+ a week, we expect a premium home experience. Like the previous reviewer stated, it's the little things that matter. This home could use updating a bit. Not big cost items to remedy: - winter stays, more rugs for entry/exit (we used towels we brought) - closet hangers, they're cheap at Walmart (home had very little to none) - update kitchenware and cutlery (it's a beautiful luxury kitchen, why not have nice cookware, utensils, good cutlery, larger cook pots, etc..) - yr over yr, the kitchen table/chairs are wearing out .. - we added spices, cooking oil, TP and paper towels (premium home had none) - a couple more beach towels for jacuzzi - no fireplace grate Understand the prior storm impacted the ability for housekeeping to turn the home for our stay, but home was barely cleaned. Dryer also went out early in our stay so had to dry clothes in front of the fireplaces. I could list a number of positives about this awesome mountain home, just think the items above could be easily rectified if luxury home is the target. Particularly, for the premium rent required. If you have stayed in luxury rentals 15-20K+/week, than you can appreciate the little utility and comfort things upon an arrival.

We had a good stay (3 families, 8 adults + a few children) at Grand Vista Lodge in Truckee. We made our way into the lodge right before winter storm started, and stayed for the whole week, so it gave us a unique experience among my 5 vacation rentals in the area. Good: the house is BIG and perfectly designed for our 3 families. One bedroom on the kitchen/living room level and 4 bedroom on the lower level and one kids room with 2 beds on the upper/attic level. We enjoyed all the bedrooms with our children around and two activity rooms, one with pool table and the other with foosball. The location of the house is gorgeous (up on a hill), giving us the great view of the snowy mountain, the plain, and the Donner lake. Kitchen is well equipped with appliances and utensils, so we don't have to bring any cookware. Driveway is easy to access the main road (no slope which could be a big issue during snow season). Things needed to improve: there is no refills for kitchen towel, bathroom garbage liners, no dish washer pod, which are little things for such a big house, but essential to deliver an amazing vacation experience and I wish they could be provided in the closet right in the kitchen. After a power outage on the 2nd day, the force air heating was not functioning for that night, that we only noticed the next day, and fixed it by switch the jumper in the electrical panel (was always giving cool air instead of hot air). Overall, it was a good stay and I wish those small things can be noticed and fixed.

Beautiful home with beautiful views but disappointingly not vacationer friendly at this price point to purposefully enjoy. The dining chairs were underwhelming and limited for an expansive home (2) of which we were afraid to use due to delicacy. The kitchen provisions to cook were minimal and low quality and how do you have 12 guests and only 11 knives to work with in total... equating to constantly wash tableware. The great room is beautiful but not furnished for a large gathering to be together (12 quests vs. 6 seating) These limitations in turn limited our enjoyment. With just a few minor upgrades, this rental could go from ok to fabulous and leave a guest filling they truly received value for the dreams they had spent $ for and had hoped to create.

Amazing home with an amazing view
We had an amazing stay! This home accommodated our group of 11 people perfectly. Plenty of bedrooms for everyone. The home was sparkling clean upon arrival. Can't beat the view from the upper deck. Definitely would like to come back in the future.

Huge house with amazing view!
We loved our stay. Plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed hot tub, steam room and pool a lot.
There is a lot of sun, especially in the morning. Please hang some blinds on the glass doors in the master bedroom!

Nice position
Highly priced for amenities and cleanliness. Stripped of decor and rugs, kitchen pans were dirty as were dishes in dishwasher when we arrived. Small spoons had been down garbage disposal and injurious for use, smoke alarm going with no replacement batteries, jacuzzi water too hot and murky. We had to clean a foot of snow off the deck before our 10.00 am departure or face $150 fine every half hour thereafter. We had to tighten all wobbly dining chairs before daring to sit on them. No instructions for underfloor stone bathroom heating. For the exorbitant price and VRBO extra charge this was very disappointing.

Great location and an overall amazing house!
The view is amazing and the house feels new. The property management communicates really well.

Truckee Donner Lake Tahoe
Great location for Lake Tahoe area activities. Home was perfect size for 6 adults and 5 kids (9 to 16). Great view from decks. Truckee Donner association activities were also great.

Grand Vista Lodge
The place was great for our family needs. There were lots of bedrooms and bathrooms for all of us. There should be ceiling fans in the bedrooms as there is no air conditioning. The weather got warm and the house was very warm during the day. There should also be screens on all the windows that open so cool nights would be better for sleeping. The last item should be better blinds on windows so that early morning sun wouldn't wake you up at 5:30 every day. Sun rises were beautiful but not every morning.

Couple of helpful information to add. Be sure the cable plug located behind the nightstand in the downstairs bedroom by the hot tub is plugged in. The Wi-Fi was not operating until this was discovered. Possibly the cleaning service unplugged to vacuum since it was not working upon check-in. The trash was almost full since we arrived on Friday and the other guests checked out on Thursday. Trash pickup in the neighborhood is on Tuesday. We had to take some trash to a drop off on Monday. The refrigerator might need a service checkup. It could be running cooler. It is a wonderful home with a great layout and beautiful views. It was a wonderful few days to celebrate my 60th birthday.
