About this cottage rental
A large, welcoming house with a very relaxed atmosphere set in a stunning location in the popular sailing village of Kippford on the Solway coast, an ideal base for multi-generation family holidays.
There is a large unfenced garden with an open pond nearby which backs onto the forest and a large terrace leading off the lounge which overlooks the Urr estuary. Kippford itself has a small sandy beach and two pubs, both of which serve food. There are both forest and coastal walks available from the door, with sailing, golf and fishing all available nearby. The Forestry Commission 7Stanes Mountain Bike Trails are located throughout the region with the nearest being at Dalbeattie Forest about a 5 minute drive away and also in Dumfries at both Mabie & Ae Forests, a little further afield are the trails in the Galloway Forest Park (Britain's first designated Dark Sky Park). The neighbouring village of Rockcliffe has a large sandy beach with many rock pools and is ideal for children of all ages, with other sandy beaches within easy reach.
In autumn and winter large numbers of the Svalbard population of barnacle geese arrive at the nearby RSPB Mersehead reserve giving an unrivalled chance to see these amazing birds and other winter visitors - more information at: http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/m/mersehead/index.aspx . The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Centre at Caerlaverock is also well worth a visit. Other places of interest nearby include Threave Estate & Threave Castle near Castle Douglas, Broughton House in Kirkcudbright. For the thrill seekers Galloway Activity Centre, located on Loch Ken offers a wide variety of land and water based activities including sailing, kayaking, canoeing, combat laser games and a climbing tower.
Whether you are looking for an active holiday or a relaxing retreat then Bells' View offers a wonderfully spacious, comfortable base to explore this unspoilt area.

We had a wonderful week. The house was really well stocked. Half way up a hill with super views. Lounge bar at bottom of hill, tearoom and shop 500 yards.
Beautiful pond unfenced.
Fantastic part of the country.

Wonderful accommodation which was perfect for the make up of our group of 7 golfers.
Large open plan spaces and great kitchen and dining area.

It has the feel of a property a 1970s footballer would have constructed after signing a new deal. A time capsule for a bygone era. The area was near silent when we were there and I'm sure the outside space would be better utilised in warmer weather to take in the stunning views. The only thing I would point out is the lack of central heating (may be mentioned in the listing). There is a variety of electric heating options which take more time to organise then a central thermostat but the advantage is individuals can decide what to do with their room.
If the decor is to your taste, it's a comfortable house with a large living space.

This house is wonderful for families getting together to celebrate. Loads of room, different tables and seating to suit all - eating, chatting, jigsawing and playing games. Fabulous views abd walks galore from the door. If you are a cook, it's perfect too! I could go on. The pub, the shell beach, the island, the woods.........
