Two hours before arrival, I sent an email to the host asking how to access the property. When we arrived, we were met with 2 bags of trash and a cooler full of rotten food sitting at the bottom of the stairway just inside the door. The power had been interrupted so all the clocks were blinking, and we were not able to get the internet to work. There were personal items throughout the property. Clothing in closets and drawers, medications in the cabinets and drawers of the bathrooms, family photos and cabinets full of food. It looked as though someone lived there full time. There were 3 dead flies lying on the table and when looking for the washer and dryer we found a bucket containing dead mice in a closet. The refrigerator shelves were dirty, and the dishwasher had dishes in it that didn't look clean. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but left after one because we did not feel comfortable,

Beautiful log house that is built in the woods overlooking the Carrabassett River. Our group of six was there for skiing and to watch the eclipse. We had excellent views of the eclipse from the wrap-around deck. The log home is more like a private lodge, beautifully furnished. The owner Frank was very helpful with check-in and what do do in the area.

We stayed three nights. Frank has a special place. Cozy and loaded with things for every member of the family. Frank is a pleasure to deal with as well. We will be back!

My family and I had a wonderful stay. Frank was very responsive and helpful with any questions.
The property has everything you would need on vacation with a large kitchen and dining room, Multiple rooms spread out over three floors and a pool table as well.
We will definitely be back again.

We really enjoyed our time at Tahoe East. It was a great “home base” while we enjoyed Sugar Loaf. The home is beautiful and Frank was a good host. We spent a lot of time in the game room. We highly recommend Tahoe East.

Beautiful Large Log Cabin on the Carrabassett River
We had an awesome 3 day stay at this amazing house. The owner is super nice and very accommodating. Spring skiing at Sugarloaf was great and it was so relaxing to sit on the deck and listen to the river! Would love to come back in the fall for some hiking and to see the foliage! Tahoe East is a very special place! Highly recommend!

Snow Play Getaway
Our hiking group take a winter week every year to play in the snow. This year we chose to explore Sugarloaf and the Carrabassett River Valley. Our stay at Tahoe East made our trip so enjoyable. The house has everything including a gourmet kitchen, open dining/living area and a fun game room we spent many evenings enjoying. Frank was very helpful with recommendations and assisting us with any questions. And he made sure the driveway was plowed for the two snow events we had. The home is located right on the Carrabasset River. We'd love to return in the summer to enjoy the river and many hiking trails.

Summer in Maine
Beautiful house with lots of space and amenities.
Owner very helpful calling in advance to give us directions and suggestions for dinning and activities. Good location near hiking trails which is our main activity.
Confusion on check in with cleaning having not been done but corrected next day. Little space for guests clothes as drawers filled with owners belongings.
No air conditioning which is probably not needed often in Maine.
I would stay there again if in area.

Awesome time and a great place
We were looking for a place to give us a true Maine feel. This place was it! The place is so cool with all of the different things inside and out. The easy walk to the river was an adventure for our kids and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the river. This is definitely a five star place and Frank, the owner, communicated with us well. Great place to stay with family and friends, especially in the summer!!!

Beautiful house
Overall we really enjoyed the house. Very unique, spacious and well appointed. We were 4 people and the place could have held a lot more. Some information should be updated - its 20 minutes to sugarloaf parking lots and you cannot use fireplaces. Also, this is a primary residence, so there are a lot of personal belongings in each room. Frank the owner was very nice and welcoming.
2.0
The house is beautiful, spacious and relaxing, and is a good location close to skiing and snowmobiling. The owner is very friendly and responsive to phone calls and questions.I deducted one star as I was expecting to snowmobile directly from the property as the owner stated was possible; however, the only trail out of the closed development is recreational use only, closed to any "motorized traffic".I find in general, you will have the best experience when you have the proper expectations. Expect this house to be a grand log cabin in the woods. Very spacious. Plenty of room for 2 and possibly even 3 small families. Drive 20 – 22 minutes north to Sugarloaf, and trailer about 15 minutes south to a large lot for snowmobiling.A few points that may affect your decision to book or not:*neither of the amazing fireplaces are available for use due to “downdraft” concerns spilling ash into the house. They are zipped tied shut, with notes not to use them.*the house has a Cluster Fly and Lady bug issue. You will find these scattered around the house during your stay. The notes suggest suck them up in the vacuum*The driveway has an upper lot and a lower lot near the house. It is very steep with switchbacks. You need 4WD in snow or you cannot park next to the house. (Two service trucks with FWD got stuck in the lower lot during our stay, eventually made it out)*You will not have the “hotel feel” in this rental. The owner’s personal belongings are everywhere (border-lined cluttered), which is both good and bad. If you enjoy exploring and finding a treasure amongst the 1000’s of books, 8-track tapes, DVDs, VHS, records, Board Games, etc, this could be a plus for you.* the pantries and fridge are fully stocked, but much of what is there has long expiration. We found a ton off stuff that expired in 2015, 2013, and even as far back as 2003. A bunch was opened in the fridge (steak sauce, salad dressing, etc), but much was still unopened in the pantries. This stuff should be eliminated.*There is radiant flooring throughout the house, and the house is maintained at 71 degrees, however the furnace started leaking while we were there, and the owner had no issue with repair professionals “inviting themselves in” during our stay (sometimes, un-announced).* there’s internet and flat panel TVs, but none are smart or Wi-Fi… if you want Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc, bring your own adaptorsOverall, we did have an enjoyable stay.Thank you Frank.

Awesome Log Cabin but a few details to consider
We just finished our stay at Frank’s cabin. Overall the cabin is beautiful and was a great place to get away during the pandemic. We definitely enjoyed our stay but wished a few things were noted better in the listing. First, while there are 2 beautiful fire places, you are not able to use either (they were zip tied shut and when I asked Frank he said there was an issue during installation and he didn’t allow renters to use them). Second, the deck and driveway were absolute sheets of ice, no shoveling was done on the deck and my poor wife who doesn’t ski was a prisoner in the house most of the time. Third, the listing shows a gas grill, its buried under several feet of snow and inaccessible. Also, not shown in the pictures were the personal items of the owner that were scattered everywhere. It was difficult to keep track of what was ours vs. the owners when leaving and made the whole place feel cluttered, which is not shown in the photos. And finally, there are flies EVERYWHERE in the property. The owner knows they are an issue as there were notes on the species they are and how they are not harmful. There were also several vacuums throughout the house to clean them up. We had to vacuum them daily on our vacation or there would be many dead flies on the floor through the house. They were 100% harmless, just annoying. I don’t want to take anything away from the place as it was great but I just wished I had known some of this before I booked and hope to give others a heads up. Just to be clear, it is an absolutely beautiful property in a cool location but just needs some work on the details to make it 5 star.

Great Family Weekend
We had a great time at this property. It is a beautiful house and is cozy and well appointed for a mountain getaway. The location is awesome - it was easy to get to Sugarloaf and we also enjoyed walking around the neighborhood in the snow. Our only comment is that there are quite a lot of personal belongings so you feel like you are in someones home more than a generic rental house. Just depends what you are looking for if that would bother you.

Great Home Base for Snow Sports
This house was a great place for a family getaway with our pod. In a non-pandemic year it would be great for 2-3 families. Near Sugarloaf and other Nordic skiing opportunities. Clean and comfortable. Great game options - pool table, darts, ping pong, chess. The view was also a big plus. The host was accessible and helpful with any questions. One note- they aren't kidding about the driveway. Make sure you have a vehicle that you are confident can make it up and down steep slopes. We had icy weather and it was a challenge.

One of the best wood houses
There were 3 families and we were simply amazed by the way the property was maintained. Three bedrooms were on three different levels and we liked it that way. We thoroughly enjoyed staying inside the property had every possible amenity one could think of. This property would be even more amazing during summer and fall seasons. We couldn't make use of the wrap around deck because of cold weather but would like to may be next time.
The pool table, ping pong, piano, gramaphone, board games.. the list goes on to keep anyone engaged.. time and money well spent!!
