About this apartment rental
This fully-furnished apartment is more than half of the first floor of a grand Victorian house, built in 1860. It used to occupy the entire block on which it sits. It has 11-foot ceilings, two (non working) marble fireplaces and a living room with walnut paneling and butler's pantry. Perfect for an academic sabbatical of one to twelve months. It has a patio right next to the front door. There is a small park nearby for a short walk, and a bike path along the Charles River for more exercise.
The apartment has its own entrance and its own off-street parking spot (potential for a 2nd space on request).
Watertown, just west of Boston, is a small, quiet town of two- and single-family homes. There's very little traffic in our part of town. It's very convenient to downtown Boston, to Cambridge and to Route 128. There are many nice restaurants within a mile radius. You can walk to Watertown Square, where there are many amenities of a small downtown. The Charles River is a great place to explore.
There's a bus to Harvard Square a short walk away. There's also express bus to Downtown and busses to Kenmore and Central Squares. It's a short ride to Harvard Square or downtown Boston. Very convenient access by car, bike or public transportation to MIT, Harvard, BU and the Medical Area.
Some of our visitors have appreciated the company of our golden retriever Oliver. He stays in our unit and an enclosed yard, but is available for playing, especially with kids.
Our place is perfect for a couple and up to two children. It would also be good for two couples. There are only two beds.

We had an absolutely great three month stay with Dan and Sarah. The house is old, not fancy but very very cozy and an absolutely great place for kids. It is the last house on the street, so very safe traffic wise, and biking distiance to a ton og small parks and great playgrounds. The location is super quite and safe, and it was easy get into Boston.
Dan and Sarah were very kind and helpfull with pratical stuff around the house, they lent us bikes and a ton of toys, amd gave great recommendations for daytrips, culture, dining and everything else we could think of.
The rest of the neighbours were also kind and made us feel most welcome. We would 100% recommend and we hope we can stay there again the next time we visit Boston.

We were seeking a quintessential New England experience during our visit and this property delivered.
The owners are absolutely lovely. They could not have been more relaxed and welcoming.
The property is very green/peaceful. We enjoyed our morning coffee/breakfast on the patio and use of the hammock for relaxing both morning and evening.
They provided so many little extras, which were truly icing on the cake for us.
They also had lots of great recommendations that suited our needs/interests as well. That definitely enhanced our visit.
The property is an easy 10 minute walk to public transportation (bus) that lands you in Cambridge or downtown Boston within 20-30 minutes. The MBTA trip planner tells you everything you need to know.
We enjoyed biking to local parks, restaurants, shopping malls, library, etc. when we wanted a little break from the big city experience.
Thanks so much to Dan & Sarah (and their sweet dog Oliver) for a wonderful visit. We’d surely stay with you again on future visits!
