Good location for exploring the parks. Def needs maintenance and cleaning, great views. Be sure to stop for groceries in Cresent City or Trinidad because there is nothing in the area.

We enjoyed a peaceful stay overlooking the ocean with plenty of space for our family of 5. Beds are very comfortable. The hot tub was a bonus for us to relax with a great view. The property managers responded promptly to our questions. Would stay again!

This home is conveniently located to points of interest both north and south. It has stunning views of the lagoon and ocean. There are plenty of birds, even eagles to enjoy while sitting on the patio or in the hot tub. The road up to the home is not well maintained; there are lots of pot holes and it is narrow in places. Please drive with caution once you leave RT 101. That said, the drive is worth the view! We made use of the provided binoculars to watch the wildlife.
The home was large enough for our party of 9. The kitchen is appropriately stocked for prepping family meals. Appliances are clean and in good condition, please note it’s a regular coffee pot not a k-cup. There is a selection of dvds, games and books The furnishings and bathroom decor are dated. This home is on a mountain so be prepared for spiders and cobwebs. The house is surrounded by colorful plants that attract plenty of hummingbirds. This home provided the opportunity for great family memories.

The Lagoon House is great. There was plenty of room for 10 of us. The beds were comfortable and what an awesome view to wake up to! Kitchen is stocked well and spacious. Washer/dryer worked well. Local grocery store has enough to get by.
And the best part is it is a short drive to Redwoods Park where you can see otherwordly scenery! The perfect base camp for family adventures into the park. And plenty to do at the house if you find yourself staying there. Would love to stay here again.

We had a great time in this home. We were exploring the Redwoods with our 10 year old son. He LOVED the ping pong table and hot tub. We also enjoyed playing board games at night. The location was great, conveniently located between Trinidad and Klamath. We were able to enjoy several beautiful trails nearby. The house was clean, well stocked, and the beds were very comfortable.

Family including infant, children, teens and adults shared a great space. Close to the beach, campgrounds, trail heads, convenience store, and 4 state and national parks. Some of our party camped nearby. Clean, quiet, beautiful view. Would love to come again.

This house was great, spacious with plenty of beds. The kids loved the giant dog stuffed animals and said the house was a "dream house". Beautiful view. Even saw a deer!

The listing undersells this property! It feels larger and nicer in person. Views are amazing - not just the lagoon, ocean view too! The kids loved the cat that visited daily, the frogs in the pond, the mass of ripe blackberry bushes, and the banana slugs covering them in the mornings.
Orick is a great central location for access to Prairie Creek State Park which has a ton of nice hikes for little kids, fern canyon, and also some National Park locations. It’s also a great spot for quick access to the nearby beach, or to head south to more epic beach landscapes or for dining options. We saw elk there everyday!
The kitchen was nice to cook in, and the big primary bedroom worked great for a couple with very young kids to all be together. The ping pong and air hockey in the garage were also a big hit.
We’d love to stay here again, highly recommend!

We were looking for something casual and comfortable with lots of space and a great location -and this was perfect. The property was clean, the view of the ocean is beautiful, and it is located within driving distance to go easily both north and south to park destinations. House was fully equipped and was well set up for children and extended family. Several eating spaces including large deck. Laundry was so nice to have available after a day of hiking or tide pooling. We really enjoyed our stay!

This property has stunning views. The home is set up for easy living, good privacy between guests and great yard spaces for the dogs. It is located in a very private area with no neighbors.

It is a beautiful property with a gorgeous view of the ocean and lagoon. It's close to the redwoods which are incredible.
It was listed as being able to sleep 10. It was a bit awkward for 8. eg the master bedroom can only be reached by going through one of the other bedrooms.
The local Vacassa staff was not very helpful. For example, a sign on refrigerator said don't cook crabs or clams in the house (they smell awful), call for a crab pot and cook them outside. When we called the "local" Vacassa rep, she had to ask someone and call back. When she did, she said the crab season was closed. That was not true - there were restrictions on how you fish for them because of whales in the area.
We met the owner, who was very helpful and lent us a pot.

So much like visiting someone's home, clean, well stocked, it was much nicer than we were expecting. Didn't need to go very far for awesome hiking and relaxing. Property manager was great about issues or questions. I can't wait to return. Just what was needed for a mental reset from city life. Loved it.

My husband and I decided to take a roadtrip down the Pacific Coast (WA to CA). We rented this property because it was close to the redwoods and the ocean. The yard could have been a little better maintained and there were some cobwebs but the place was clean overall. We were able to enjoy the local activities and really relax. Wish we could have stayed a few more days... the beach you see on the photos was almost like having your own private beach. Would definitely stay again.

This large, homey listing is in a beautiful private setting with a million dollar view.
We made good use of the kitchen during our stay with 8 people! Getting to the Parks to take hikes and view elk and giant redwoods only took a matter of a few minutes.

The house had a great view of the lagoon and shoreline. Plenty of room for family or friends.
6.0 / 10.0
The view is amazing. However, the property manager needs to make sure the cleaning crew cleans. There were countless spiders/webs inside throughout the home. The interior & exterior of all windows, especially those that face the lagoon & ocean, were extremely dirty and had a lot of dead bugs and old spider webs on them.

We LOVED this property. It was larger than we needed, so bigger groups will certainly enjoy their time here, too. There's no direct access to the lagoon, which would have been nice but the property itself is beautiful. We left wishing only that we had had more time here.

Serene stay near the redwoods
A very nice property with amazing lagoon views. The accommodation was clean and comfy and the location was perfect. We could explore the nearby state / national parks. We enjoyed the sunset and sipping coffee on the outdoor deck.
Would surely recommend.

Awesome view, perfect for groups
We visited Freshwater Lagoon Retreat as a group of 6 adults and 2 babies. We love to cook and this house was fully stocked for people like us! All the things you need in a kitchen and then some. There was a great big dining room table in the living/dining room (which also has a fireplace and beautiful large windows overlooking the lagoon and the Pacific Ocean) that was large enough for our group. There was also seating outside on the back deck. The rooms were comfortable, including a master bedroom with lots of space for babies or kids. There were tons of toys and kids’ DVDs, the hosts did a great job of making the house family friendly. The grounds were also beautiful, green, and full of flowers. We had a cold rainy day and it didn’t ruin anything, we stayed in the house and enjoyed a fire and the view. Hosts supplied firewood as well. Location was great, 7 minute drive to the closest beach and very close to the Redwoods National and state parks. Highly recommended!

Communication was great. Property was very cozy and welcoming. The location had absolutely stunning views of the lagoon and ocean. The only negatives were the sometimes incessantly barking dogs above us and the gunfire that could be heard in the mornings - and sounded close. We brought our 20-something kids and our golden retriever and we had a blast. We only found one dog-friendly hike thru Redwoods (Cal-Barrel Rd) - which was great - and lots of other dog families were there too. We primarily explored the nearby beaches. We would definitely consider returning.

Beautiful Home with a View
Truly, the online photos don't do this place justice. We visited from a few hours south, as we have never seen the Redwood Forest. Quiet location with a breathtaking view of the lagoon and the Pacific. Sunsets were unbeatable. Very clean, and plenty of linens. Thanks for a great experience!

Our stay in Orick
The house met our needs, and the notebook of things to do and suggested restaurants was helpful. However, there were no written instructions on how to use the amenities in the house. For example, no instructions on how to connect to any stations on the tv, there was no Wi-Fi, but there was no listing of any places we could go to get free access to the internet. We were very disappointed that we were not able to get the fireplace to work, we tried many things, but there were no directions on how to work it.

Exquisite setting
My family and I enjoyed staying at the property very much. The house is big, convenient, and has multiple areas for family to congregate or be alone if they wish. The view is just indescribable of the lagoon and ocean. Very private, away from crowds. We were very refreshed after our stay.

Freshwater Lagoon Home
The view from the home was amazing. The house was very big and held all 8 of us comfortably. We had a great time at the house even though there were a few small things that could have made it a little better. The first thing is when we showed up at 4:00 the place was not ready. I spoke with the housekeeper and she said we needed to wait about another 20 minutes. Once we got in we noticed right away that the two bathrooms only had 1 roll of toilet paper in them, For 8 people and a 6 day vacation, we’ll you do the math. (-: There we’re also only 2 paper towel rolls in the home. Disposable trash bags were needed as well as there were only a couple of those there as well. All of these things are small in the scope of things but they are necessities nonetheless. Luckily there was a store in Orick where we ran to stock up. Although not the property owners fault, the power outages were a bummer. Once for breakfast and once for dinner we had to go out to eat unexpectedly since the entire house is powered by PG&E. Overall though we loved the place and we had an amazing trip. Once a year we all get together for our family vacation and nothing was going to stop us from having a great time together.

FRESHWATER LAGOON RETREAT
Our extended family enjoyed this home for 5 nights. The home was clean and well stocked with basics. The owner was very responsive to our needs by bringing more tanks for the BBQ. Beautiful view and comfy beds. The property was well maintained and full of flowering bushes. The perfect getaway!!
