About this cottage rental
Enjoy one of the most spectacular views on the Mendocino coast. Nestled in peaceful seclusion atop a bluff overlooking a mile of dramatic beachfront, the Elk Cove Inn’s Craftsman-style Mansion was built in 1883 by the L.E. White Lumber Co. as the Mill Superintendent’s home. It became one of the first bed & breakfast inns on the Mendocino Coast in 1968. The inn is set back from the road, surrounded by native trees, a creek and the ocean, with private stairs to the driftwood-strewn beach below.This cozy northern California inn overlooks the Pacific atop a bluff in Elk, known for its dramatic coastline views and gorgeous sunsets. Relax to the sound of the water.The best Pet friendly place. Champagne breakfast is served every day.

Perfect location for the down to earth couple wanting breathtaking beach views. Must love dogs <3 the property has friendly dogs that greet you and make the experience that much better. Truly a bed and breakfast with communal areas to meet new friends and have a shared experience. Delicious restaurant with many of the items, farm to fork.

The owners and employees were wonderful. The facility is marvelous! Location provides for beach access and walking trails. Food is amazingly great!
Having meals on restaurant deck provides fantastic view for breakfast and dinner. Happy hour provides opportunity to socialize with other guests.

Had a problem with VRBO and it’s communication with the stay there we ended up not getting the place or the days we wanted and our room had stairs in it both my girlfriend and I are handicap and struggled with the stairs in our room

Quaint ocean view cottage on Mendocino coast
I surprised my husband with a three night getaway for his birthday. I learned about this property on VRBO. Everything as stated about the property is accurate: breath taking views, lovely accommodations and wonderful champagne breakfasts to begin each day. The property owners, Melissa and Rakesh, went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing. They could not have been more hospitable and generous. We definitely look forward to returning!

Peaceful 4th of July
My husband and I brought our 2 dogs up to avoid the fireworks at home. It was so beautiful and quiet! Our breakfast both mornings was great and we both loved our dinner. All the staff was so pleasant and helpful.

My partner & I spent a delightful weekend here in the Covey Cottage with our two small dogs. We had our dinner delivered & it was wonderful as were the breakfasts. There was a beautiful view of the beach with easy access. We definitely want to go back!

If you are seeking a secluded room with peace and quiet except for the roar of the ocean, this is THE place for you. Really comfortable bed & soft linens, outstanding food, breathtakingly beautiful ocean view from my bed. Great shower. Short stretch of stairs and a path take you to a beach that feels essentially private (very few folks come and go) and totally manageable even if you aren’t in the greatest shape. Very kind and low key staff. Romantic, restful, private. Celebrated our 55th anniversary here and are thinking we must visit annually now!

This place was such a pleasant surprise. Such a beautiful view on an incredible property. It was such a nice and beautiful getaway. I will definitely stay there again.

Wonderful experience
A lot of places are advertised as dog friendly, but the Elk Spa really means it. The staff is truly welcoming of canines, even larger breeds. The property has a direct path to beautiful and dog friendly Greenwood beach, only a few minute walk. The staff is friendly and helpful, and we felt very welcome. I highly recommend it. Due to covid, meals were delivered directly to our door, which allowed for safe and delicious dining. The food is amazing! Also, the staff and guests all followed proper covid protocol, masking even outdoors in the common areas. I recommend it highly

Lovely Getaway
The site of the inn is stunning. It was a wonderful respite from our normal routine, and the inn is located in a great spot for hiking, going into Mendocino, and visiting local wineries.

Oh the food!!
In addition to the ocean front view, wonderfully cozy accommodations, the owners Victor and Melissa and dog Capone, really made the experience feel like you were joining family for a relaxing getaway. We can't say enough. We will be back.

Place needs w and updating
Place has beautiful location but property needs major repair and updating.. Appetizers at cocktail hour were less than desirable.

Perfect relaxing overnighter
The host showed us around, answered our questions and even served us a glass of wine on our arrival. Our cottage was clean and well appointed and the window seat framed a beautiful ocean view. Breakfast was delicious and had a lovely presentation with fresh flowers adorning the eggs. We hope to return when we can stay longer. Very charming place with perfect hosts.
