The region
Minehead sits on the edge of Exmoor National Park and, if walking is your passion, there is no better place to be. Not only do you have Exmoor stretching out before you with its magnificent views, wildlife and cosy pubs, the town is also the starting point of the Southwest National Trail, the longest distance countryside trail we have. It's also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain.
Exmoor is often referred to as England's best kept secret, it's a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets.

Lovely well equipped, spotless property. Thoroughly enjoyed the welcome basket, as did our dog. Great location, with a 5 minute downhill walk to the High Street. Very peaceful and loved being able to hear the stream (on the outside of the enclosed garden). Very helpful owner who should be rightly proud of the property.

A fabulous, newly renovated property just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Beautifully clean and excellent facilities. There are some lovely walks from the cottage also. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and the welcome hamper was a real treat after a long drive!

A great location in the old town area but within easy walking distance of the town and coast. Well equipped, comfortable and in a quiet and relaxing area. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. We are already missing the sound of crashing waves along the coast !

A great modern cottage with all you need for a comfortable stay. The location is a nice mix of being into the old town side of Minehead without being too far away from the sea front and local attractions. Off road parking a real bonus in this area. The hill is steep but still a nice amble down and back for a coffee and a paper. The log burner and cosy front room would be lovely and snug in the cooler months.

Another fantastic stay at Barn Cottage, such a beautiful place. Everything was perfect, thank you!

A well equipped, spacious, comfortable cottage set in a quiet area of Minehead. Easy access to beach and shops. The large welcome pack was much appreciated. The enclosed patio area was ideal for sitting and relaxing in the sun as well as being secure for the dogs. Our stay could not have been better, even the weather was brilliant. Many thanks for a great break, would love to return. Thanks to John for information and advice.

A wonderful place to stay, a 5-10 minute walk into Minehead town centre. Also a short drive unti beautiful countryside and Exmoor. The cottage has been beautifully renovated to a high standard, it is very well equipped with everything you need for a weeks stay. It is also great for babies and young children with stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. The use of the travel cot and high chair was great too, to save bringing our own. The welcome pack of tasty goodies was a very thoughtful gesture. We had a wonderful week, thank you.

Barn Cottage was presented immaculately, very clean, contained all the facilities that we required and we really enjoyed our stay.
The location was great with only a short walk down the hill to the town centre.
Would definitely recommend!

Enjoyed our stay, accommodation was spacious and very well equipped with a lovely patio. It is very quiet location and short distance to town centre and Sea front, as previous review mentioned it is a steep hill back to Barn Cottage. We would stay here again and recommend without hesitation. The welcome basket was greatly appreciated.

House feels really recently re-done and was beautifully clean. The large porch is great for leaving wet/ muddy coats, boots, waterproof trousers etc so you don't trail mud in. A large basket full of logs was provided, and kindling too. Outside area is done really well. And sharp cooking knives- something missing from so many holiday lets!

Ho well in, 20odd years of self catering experience we found that this property was 110% and the the owners response to a couple of small problems was overwhelming.
If any of your clients requires a recommendation, send them this way as always here to help, we have never seen a well equipped property before, as said we only do self catering and we always take a lot of items but on this occasion did not need them. We will return.

I never write reviews but we was so impressed with Barn cottage.
It was fantastic, from the time we booked until we checked out.
Welcome hamper was a lovely touch. Very clean, had everything you needed and much more.
The log burner was cosy in the evenings, easy to light too.
The facilities at Barn cottage was outstanding, parking on the drive was a bonus too.
We would definitely recommend staying here.
Only one downside was the location, the hill from the cottage to the town, was very difficult for us, if your fit it would be no problem.

Lovely renovation. Only one point about the location - it might be 5-10 minutes walk down into the town centre but it is a steep long walk back! Thanks for the pack of very useful goodies too

New, fresh, modern, homely, clean, great location, dog friendly, quiet, private parking, good contact with the owner, nice welcome-package. There's really nothing else one could ask for when renting a house on a holiday. Highly recommended.

Perfect location for our particular needs and great weather (which of course is never guaranteed)
Very convenient for a short walk into Minehead centre for shops, gifts, banking etc. Also within easy walking distance of the beach, sadly our only disappointment was not being aware beforehand, that the beach is closed to dogs between 1st May to 30th September.
Not to worry, as we found some other great woodland and coastal walks for the dog, including Horner Woods, Allerford (with the famous Packhorse Bridge), North Hill and Selworthy.

Really wonderful cottage, quiet location and we felt at home immediately.
We were impressed how everything we needed had been thought of and provided.
Lovely welcome basket and some essential items too, thank you! Nice short walk into the centre of Minehead too... it was hard to walk past the bakers!

The Barn is a lovely CLEAN friendly house. So well equiped utensil side and everything there you need.
Good garden set up for the after 5pm gin and tonic.
Walking distance to town and beach and shops
Most friendly neighbours and lovely walks.
We would recommend this house anytime and would go back in a flash.
Good setting and the views to die for.
For future tenants it is very advisable to book your restaurants early.

The first stay at The Barn cottage, we have been coming to Minehead many years now and have stayed in many holiday homes in the area. The barn is excellent , great facilities, the enclosed patio was great for relaxing outside, our small dog loved it, great welcome pack, safe parking was a bonus for the area and a short trip to the queens which is our favorite place, the roasts are awesome, we look forward to staying there again in the future. Well done from the both of us.

The house is in excellent condition and really comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The location in the old part of Minehead is great - 5 minutes walk to the high street and to the beach (slightly longer coming back uphill) and easy access to North Hill for walks. Arrival and departure processes very straightforward. There's lots to do in the area: walks on Exmoor, villages at Dunster (plus castle), Porlock, Bossington and Selworthy, fossil hunting at Watchet, a beer in the sun at Porlock Weir, ancient monastery at Cleeve Abbey (plus nearby Torre Cider Farm).

The property is located in a nice part of Minehead although the hill back to the house is rather gruelling. The house has been well modernised and follows the modern trend of using hard flooring throughout. Easy to clean but noisy. Hope to return next year as still not seen everything the area has to offer

The welcome basket was very much appreciated after a long journey

This a lovely location the walk down into town is easy, but be prepared to walk back up the hill. This gets the blood pumping but allows you to eat your cream tea guilt free.
The owner of the house was very friendly and helpful with local knowledge and history of the property. Really think that we will be booking another break here.

This is an absolutely fantastic property! The location is perfect and the steep hill is well worth the 5 min (maximum) climb. The renovation has been completed to a really high standard and the property is very well equipped and has everything that you could need. It’s very homely and comfortable. The patio is a lovely place to sit and relax and the neighbourhood is very quiet. The thoughtful welcome extras were very much appreciated. This is the best property we have stayed in and we hope that we’ll be able to stay there again. If you’ve booked this you’re in for a treat!!

This is a superb property which easily took 6 adults for a long weekend.
Very thoughtful goodies supplied for our arrival including a lovely cream tea, jam on top of course!
It is convenient for both the town and sea front and plenty of parking for 2/3 cars.
Totally recommended.

This is one of the best properties we have stayed in. It was clean, bright, spacious and airy , and very well equiped. It was in a lovely quiet location, although, if walking into the centre of town or to the seafront you need to be fit, as it is on a steep hill. We would certainly stay here again.

We were very fortunate to be able to stay in what appeared to be a virtually brand new cottage close to the town. The modern, stylish accommodation was very comfortable and warm, and the owners had provided everything that guests would need.

Great Modern Cottage
Old school cottage charm in the ‘old town’ area of Minehead with all the modern facilities and home comforts you could wish for. A lovely open plan kitchen diner with direct access onto the large terrace and BBQ area - a great space to eat out and relax in the sun. Well equipped and spacious with TV’s in all the rooms. The separate lounge is a nice space and with the log burner will be cosy during the cooler months. Great location almost mid point between the old town church and the main town.

The property has recently been remodeled being well laid out works having been carried out to a high standard, quality finish throughout. The outside eating area provides an enjoyable private space much more than the photographs suggest.
Knowing we had a good place to rest our heads at the end of the day made for a most enjoyable 24/7 holiday
