About this house rental
The "Rectory" of the Mother Church of Maratea "Santa Maria Maggiore", which was enlarged in Baroque forms on a pre-existing church dating back to 1550, is an evocative period house, with a "Historical Heritage" constraint.
The house is located next to the church and probably dates back to the 1700s. It is in an airy and luminous position on the beautiful square in front of it and is easily reachable from via Carlo Mazzei by means of a short flight of steps next to the eighteenth-century hotel "La locanda delle donne monache", or by means of the numerous stairs that rise from the historic center towards the square.
It is an independent house on two levels, with entrance from both the ground floor and the first floor.
Going up the ladder next to the church you will reach a small terrace, which houses a table with chairs, which overlooks the large square and from which you can see the famous statue of Christ of Maratea. You enter the dining-kitchen area and at the bottom there is the living-sleeping area with two sommier. By means of a graceful staircase you go down to the ground floor where there is a bedroom with the bathroom on the left, the sleeping area with a separate double bed on the right and under the staircase there is a closet that contains the washing machine, the vacuum cleaner and tools of cleaning.
The house has undergone a careful restoration that has enhanced its spaces and construction details such as the beautiful chestnut roof. In the restoration, recycled period materials such as Neapolitan majolica and terracotta were used.
