The house is great and would be wonderful in spring, summer, or fall. But in the summer when it’s hot, it is miserable. The house was 85 inside we we arrived and hovered above 80 during the other days.
We understand that some houses don’t have A/C, but I think this should have been communicated directly. Also, on the check in day, someone could have opened the windows or turned on a fan.
Also, the listing states “lake”. There is a pond (not a lake), but it is 20 minutes away. There is a pond that is visible from the property, but it is on private property.

PROS. Private with beautiful views. The few houses in the distance fit the scenery. The place was clean and modern yet appropriately rustic. Didn't see a single spider web under the eaves. About 10 minutes from a very simple gas/grocery/grill place.
CONS. Almost 30 min to a town with a real grocery store and restaurant options (though for some people this is a pro). Check-in was 4pm without gaurantee, and off-site, about 20 min north so hopefully you're headed from that direction. Have to take garbage with you.

Beautiful inside and out..added treat was the ❄️ 🏔 snow.

Canaan Realty was super easy to work with. Check in and check out was easy. We had several families staying here and there were plenty of rooms and space. Kids enjoyed the large yard. We did have someone in the neighborhood call to Realty place that said we were noisy and had too many people, which was false. Another neighbor then informed us that person doesn't like when the homes are rented and always calls to complain about something. Other than that, this home is beautiful and has everything you need!

Very good stay away home in mountains
We loved the places.. we, three families, stayed for three days and really loved the area.. as it was spring time we had nice hikes, horse back riding etc.. home is exactly what it is listed.. finding it in Google maps is bit difficult though especially with no cell signals

Great property and easy check-in. Beautiful views and close to the best hiking in West Virginia. We chose this sight so we could paddle Red Creek/Laurel Fork/Hopeville Canyon/Dry Fork and other nearby rivers. And we loved the nearby hiking (Flat top trail, Red Creek) and ramps. Most of all, it was nice to be close to Canaan Valley area but somewhat off the beaten path. Highly recommend the place!

We had a great experience at this location. The renters were very responsive to all of my questions
Personally I ask many questions when I am not familiar with the area because I have a 4 year old type 1 diabetic. I ask about WIFI (not for iPads but for medical devises) I ask about emergency locations, once that’s all out of the way I ask about the fun stuff. What’s something your family loves to do. The owners were very responsive and my family was able to slow down and just enjoy the BEAUTIFUL surroundings. One tip: if you have kids take a kite. My kids loved running in all the open space and flying kites!!!!

While this property certainly satisfied a mountain getaway, the checkout procedures were much more involved than many others we have stayed at. This included having to load our bags of garbage for the weekend and drive them 25 minutes across snow covered mountain roads back to the realty office. As an aside, we did not have enough garbage bags on premises to get through the weekend and the nearest store was 20 minutes away.

This property is great. The house has everything you could want with plenty of privacy. Please note the need for 4x4 or all wheel drive, especially in snow. One of our two cars didn't have either and had to sit in a church parking lot. Our other car's all wheel drive gave out in the extremely cold temperatures, but we got great assistance from neighbors and the management company. Thank you everyone!

Great weekend getaway for our family to rest and connect. We're a yard game family, so the large yard was awesome to play Crossett, whiffle ball, throw Frisbee and star gaze! The mountain scenery, wildlife and quietness, cellphone disconnect was music to our souls. A well equipped kitchen, large dining room table and outdoor pavilion made our time around food a highlight. Nice roomy chalet, towels and linens provided made for a great weekend! ...only negative to note was dvd player was broken and a few fans that didn't funtion. Not enough negative to overshadow the positive!

A group of friends and I stayed at Almost Heaven for a long ski weekend and it was a fun place to unplug and get outdoors. The house was the perfect size and in a beautiful location, especially with all the snow. The kitchen had two ovens and big dining room table so we could all cook and eat comfortably. The wood burning fireplace was a huge plus, as was the dryer for our wet snow stuff! Dan, the property manager, was very kind and stopped by the plow the driveway and let us use their sleds. The house also has cornhole and horseshoe. Only a few tips for those who book: The listing says the house is only 2-3 miles from Canaan Ski Resort, it's more like 8-9. Also, the address they provide online is not the actual address of the house. Call before to get the real address. Because of lack of service, once we got the actual address at the realty office we had to figure out how to get there in the dark with written instructions instead of the detailed maps/instructions we previously printed out. Those who were coming in other cars an hour behind us didn't know and we couldn't contact them except with a landline. For people who want to work from home here, book at your own risk. There is no service and while we were there the WIFI was out for over a day because of an ice storm. They were very helpful in fixing it, but it did change some of our plans. Finally, we were playing music on a small speaker outside at 2:00 in the afternoon while playing cornhole and another house called to complain. The next house has to be nearly 100 yards away. No fault of the property's, but a warning if people want to avoid nosy neighbors. Overall, we loved our stay! This is an annual trip and this is our favorite location we've been to. Thanks again!

I can't recall an accommodation rental in which the stay matched the pictures more closely than this. Everything was exactly as described and pictured, which made for a wonderful stay in this beautiful rural cabin development. The kitchen was excellent, great room and fireplace were great, and there is ample outdoor decking and space for meals, scenic views, or stargazing. The only tip I would have for future guests is to bring a small portable hand vacuum. This almost certainly had to do with the season and the environment, not a defect in the home or cleanliness, but we kept finding dozens of dead and dying flies near the main sliding door. A quick vac twice a day took care of these critters, and they were soon out of sight and out of mind, and we were back to savoring the views!!
