The house was a little hard to find but the host gave a lot of detailed instructions that helped us alot. We went on an already hot weekend but this house is HOT there are small AC units in the bedrooms but all of the common areas have nothing but fans, there was no relief from the heat aside from taking turns hanging out in the tiny bedrooms.
The listing very clearly states that Nacimiento Lake is a mile away, which is true, however, you dont get ANY access to the lake. There is a locked gate and locked boat ramp that says "residents and guests" which apparently we weren't guests?
The host did not provide codes for the locks and upon asking for them the host informed us that they had "taken the lake description" out of the listing on Vrbo...after we made the reservation? Kind of irritating and shadey. They were quick to respond and inform us which is a bonus, but don't call your house a "lake house", say its a mile away from a lake, then say guests don't get access after they've paid, then imply that the guest should have asked specifically about the lake. Just seems wrong.
There is a 45+ minutes drive around the lake the the marina resort which you have to pay $18 per car for day use.
We made it work and got our group out on the water for one day on our boat. But we found other activities like wine tasting and driving into Paso for dinner to beat the heat.
Other than the misleading description the house was clean and the host was extremely nice and quick to respond.

Wonderful way to celebrate the new year!
The property is so beautiful that it it difficult to describe. Set on 5 acres, we walked, explored and enjoyed the surrounding beauty. The house has everything for evening fun: games, air hockey, a basketball hoop, a horseshoe area and more. The house is cozy and warm and from every window we could see wild deer. Plus the hose Sherrie was easily reachable and explained the check in process thoroughly. We will be coming back again!

Dragon Ranch, Running Deer Ranch
Definitely out in the country. Getting there and driving around a challenge especially at night. A small manufactured home with a large porch that’s basically not used because it’s too cold outside at night.
Heat works well thank goodness. Hauling trash out is a real chore, and always very difficult to find someplace to put it when you haul it away in the Paso Robles. It be good to have a resource someplace at least to take it to, that is an address of somebody that will take your trash so you don’t have to sneak around and try and drop it off someplace. All in all lots of acreage, lots of places to walk around in and enjoy. I will give it four out of five stars.

Excellent place to enjoy with family and friends
We had a great stay at Running deer ranch. While the property is somewhat difficult to reach, Sherrie had provided great instructions and pictures for us to follow. There were tons of games (basketball, disc golf, air hockey/ping pong, Cornhole, and board games) for the guests to enjoy. The night sky is also very beautiful due to low light pollution. Only cons were the long drive to nearby towns and smell of sulfur from hot water (that went away after a day's use).

Serene getaway
So quiet and peaceful here. We loved sitting in the comfortable chairs enjoying the afternoon and evening view and sky. Loved seeing the deer and bunnies and turkeys and even a coyote. The screened porch was perfect for our breakfast and even for the teens in our group as a sleeping area. The kitchen is definitely a one person kitchen but it worked out just fine for our group of 6 adults and 2 teens. We have family in this community so were able to access the water with them. We would happily stay here again.

The house was great. It was exactly as it was in the pictures.
The stay was great. They did have air conditioning units in each room. But it didn’t quite cool as I would expect. That was the only negative as I would suggest a central cooling unit. But other then that it was a great experience.

Great Stay! Plenty of Entertainment
This property was great! You drive some pretty windy roads to get there but definitely worth it. The owner sent perfect instructions for arrival. The enclosed patio was great for ping pong and the kitchen had all the essentials. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra towels for the six of us! We had an amazing time.

Absolutely loved!
Had a great family reunion weekend! Property clean, well represented and well appointed! Only improvement would be to provide more storage: Kitchen has limited storage for personal food (pantry storage area is locked) and the closets in the bedrooms were either locked or full of owners stuff.

A Paradise
The location is intentionally secluded so we can enjoy the tranquil stay.

Perfect getaway
It’s nice place if you just want to relax and take a break from work. We enjoyed our time there. Plenty of games and puzzles to keep you occupied. We enjoyed seeing turkeys and deers every day. We didn’t end up going to the lake and decided on hitting the beaches if you have to drive for an hour for the lake then might as well go to the clean water. It was also because I wasn’t sure about the cleanliness of the lake water. Only complain I had was water pressure in the kitchen sink, it was super slow and took forever to rinse something or even get water for cooking. If you are planning on cooking then make sure you bring cooking oil. I made a mistake for not bringing any. Overall good experience with the place.

Great property
House is new and well kept.
The house itself is small but you are there for the grounds and the area.
Though the living area is small there is a very nice screened in porch with an air hockey table and some couches.
The bedrooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable.
We loved the area.
We would definitely stay there again!

Restful, beautiful, private space to relax
We chose this property because of the privacy, as we wanted to just enjoy being close to nature. The photos and comments by other travelers are completely accurate, and we appreciated that every part of the home was immaculate. There were high-quality linens, lovely modern decor, a kitchen with everything we needed, and quiet outdoor spaces to relax. There were plenty of games and activities too. One thing that was much appreciated was the communication with the property manager. Sherrie gave simple and clear instructions for arrival, and we found everything exactly as she had stated. The instructions for departure were the simplest we've ever encountered. My husband felt the privacy of the home, based on how it was placed on the property, and its access to natural woodlands for hiking with spectacular views were the best features of all.

Great house on the top of a mountain on 40-acre property. Breathtaking views and a very quiet neighborhood. It is so dark and quiet at night. You can hear the sound of crickets and the occasional howling coyote, a pretty melody to fall asleep to. In the mornings and afternoons, you might catch a deer family around. The place is clean and well equipped. Sherrie, the owner, seems very nice. It is easy to communicate with her. I would highly recommend this place for your stay in Lake Nacimiento.

Very nice and comfortable stay
We rented this house for the 4th of July weekend and it was fantastic. The home had most of everything we needed. The screened in patio was nice and the markets light outside gave a nice touch of light at night. The only unfortunate things were the dishwasher and ice machine in the refrigerator were not working. Other then that we very much enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time, had all we needed, nice and new, we’ll kept. Game room/screened patio was nice and the bistro lights in driveway were fun to play cornhole under at night.

Awesome Nacimiento Retreat
This is a beautiful property. My family loved seeing family of deer every morning and evening around the property. The home is clean and well equipped. The screened in porch with ping pong, air hockey, large couch and large patio table and chairs is a great place for the family to hangout and have dinner. Mark was helpful, and immediately responsive to any question. We will definitely be going back!

This vacation rental was very fun. Well equipped, clean, and newly furnished. You can tell the owner put thought and effort into the details to make the stay comfortable and effortless. There is a cute covered outdoor area for dining and games attached to the house which was a great expansion of the space. Overall a great experience, we would rent again!
