Unique, loved the simple, modern decor. Very friendly owner /staff. Provided some amazing recommendations on places to eat.
Short drive to downtown Sand point and the beach.
Noise between rooms (which wasn’t a problem for us, but I apologize to our neighbors…I have three teenage boys)
Not much to see or do within walking distance.
4.5
Clean room, comfortable beds, and loved the decor! Staff were nice and helpful.
Maybe a tad spendy for a motel room and for what a motel offers.

We had a great stay at the outdoor in, it was well located to downtown Sandpoint (about 5 minutes) and Schweitzer mountain (about 20 minutes). The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The owner was also very responsive and helpful. It's a great local spot, and overall a great value - I would definitely stay here again!

Very cool "motel" updated with the local outdoors vibe of the area. Super well done remodel, loved the rooms and parking in front of your door.
Easy access to the road to Schweitzer, but a bit disconnected from the local scene in Sandpoint. Just 5 min drive with a car, but not walking distance from local scene in Sandpoint downtown area of restaurants and nightlife.

The best interior decorating you'll find on any motel in the United States. Most things have been well thought out.
Unfortunately it's still a motel with motel problems like thin walls, and a noisy AC unit, on a main road. Suggestion: Walls could be improved with more paneling, and AC changed to a modern split system to eliminate most noise.
4.5
Nothing of which the motel could control. The traffic and railroad noise was the only negative.

Lovely large room, newly remodeled, could use a couple of comfy chairs, eco-friendly.
You need to eat at the Hoot Owl a few doors away. Great breakfast, local folks, and the place is just a real hoot!
Right on highway but could not hear the traffic. No place that I saw for kids.

Beautiful room. Clean, nice and cousy.

The motel was remodeled beautifully! Loved the Airbnb style check in, the decor, the amenities, and the bed was comfortable!

Rooms are recently remodeled, clean and comfortable. owner is super friendly.
Only issue I had was the heavy traffic on the road and difficulty sleeping with the noise.

The design was great. Beds were very comfortable. Very easy check in and check out.
The shower stall was a little snug. Also really could have used a second mirror outside of the bathroom.

Amy, the host and proprietor, was just fabulous with me and the rest of my family group from the get-go. Her friendliness and energy upon check-in (an incredibly quick and easy process, I might add) waving to us from across the parking lot made us immediately know that we'd made a great choice picking this hotel out of all of the rest for our stay in Sandpoint. All of the other guests staying that evening (11th July 2022) we're also
As for the hotel (motel, to be precise), the entire property has very recently renovated and done to a great standard and with bundles of charm, character and a level of individuality that you'd normally only expect from a 'boutique' hotel. Beds were excellent, shower was hot & powerful and morning coffee-making within the room very tasty.
The hotel was a very short drive to Sandpoint town centre, a town definitely worthy of a visit if on any Idaho/Pacific top left road trip. If you do plan to visit Sandpoint then Outdoors Inn really ought to be where you book yourselves into! Have a blast in Sandpoint and a great night's sleep - we did : )
Nothing that we didn't like

We loved this place! You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor and fixtures used to create a cozy, rustic room. very clean. Attention to details including full sized (and great brands) of shampoo/conditioner/hand soap), wood floors, headboard and eating nook. Equipped w glasses, mugs and local coffee w microwave, etc for quick make yourself breakfasts. Convenient and close to nearby towns, cafes, skiing, attractions. On a main road but traffic not loud. Had an evening and morning train but they were timed to not be bothersome. Would stay again! friendly owner
Not much to complain about!

The owner was just lovely and so friendly. Rooms are decorated beautifully. Bed could have been a little more comfortable.
Bed felt a little lumpy.

Noise from road and trains interrupted our sleep

What a pleasant stay. While it’s a motel, based on its layout, you really feel like you are in a modern hotel. It is exceptionally clean, comfortable and you can tell the owners care about this property. Do make sure you receive the entrance key sequence before you show up. Theoretically you should get a text message prior to the check-in.
Just a tip: do not go to the nearby Owl breakfast place if you are in a hurry that day and especially if normally you eat to live, not live to eat. While it’s a lovely and authentic place with very pleasant staff, it is meant for leisurely and really slow mornings with breakfast-lunch-supper on a single plate.
Be warned this place is not for light sleepers: it is right on the highway and the train passes by in the night a couple of times. Just make sure you get sufficiently tired so you can fall back asleep immediately :) The place is so nice that I remember the noise with a smile.

No staff at check in
Bed broken down and slumping

Great location and value!
Thin walls. Bed seemed a little small.

The rooms were so uniquely decorated, so clean and modern but homey and cozy. The beds were incredibly comfortable.
There was construction going on next door but that’s temporary.

This was my second stay at the Outdoors Inn. They rooms are well decorated and have thoughtful, efficient touches.
Pack your ear plugs! The Inn is adjacent to the train which runs all night and a busy road.

The location was great with respect to Sandpoint and Schweitzer ski resort and many places to eat. The bed, bath, and kitchenette were comfortable with many places to store your clothes and stuff. Very clean and modern.
This place is very close to a noisy road and a constant flow of trains. We were able to sleep comfortably since we brought our white-noise machine. While the kitchenette is clean and modern with many of the basic essentials, it wasn't clear that there are no utensils, eatware, or cookstove (microwave only). This again wasn't a problem since we were traveling heavy and had the tools to eat. It might also have been nice to have more places to sit other than the 1 love seat and the bed since we had 2 people, but overall it was the best motel we've ever stayed at, and very dog friendly!

The only recommendation I have is that it would be nice to have a chair in the room. It would have to be small, but I think one could fit.
