Very quick response to the problem I had with the air conditioner, and switched out the feather pillows for synthetic when I asked.
I would have preferred breakfast earlier since I was up early to do sightseeing.
But the breakfast was very good.

Convenient location and access to downtown as well as main roads out of town. We had the use of a car. We paid for the church parking and it was easily accessible. The bedding and towels were clean and most comfortable. Staff were so kind, friendly and took care of everything.
The room had a slight smell of old tobacco?? Could be in the carpet or walls???

Loved the location - it was so easy and convenient to be so close to all of the things we wanted to do! About 10 mins from downtown/all the shops and restaurants, and also walking distance to Signal hill and the Geo Centre. Breakfast was fabulous - good food, hot coffee, prompt and friendly service (Megan was fantastic) and a beautiful view! Carol was super helpful on multiple occasions. We had a wonderful stay.
The only thing we "didn't like" was that our room happened to be really close to the kitchen, so sometimes we were woken up by people coming up for breakfast. However, this really wasn't a big problem as it helped us not to sleep in too late! ;)

The location was perfect for exploring St Johns. The building was as advertised a Heritage building in famous Gower Street. The house was furnished with traditional/ reproduction furniture and some antiques. The free wifi was excellent. Quiet location. Beds comfortable.
Advertised as an Inn, but no staff onsite when we arrived , a staff member arrived at breakfast time to oversee breakfast and do main cleaning though there was no servicing of the rooms whilst we were there for three days. No introduction to facilities, did not know for two days we could use the kitchen for coffee and tea or that there was a kettle and microwave available for our use on our landing. However no coffee or tea available with it - only in the kitchen.
Breakfast was really poor, on one day only a nice oat , yoghurt, fruit mix was available in attractive glasses. One left over was offered to one person the next day. The items provided were not fresh, a rock hard bagel, bread was the same original sliced loaf provided each of the three days, as we suspect were the bagels and croissants and there were not enough to go round. Not enough muffins were offered. Fruit was poor and again not enough to go round, consisting of chunks of banana still in skin, thin slices of orange. Not enough places to accommodate all guests so some had to sit on sofa in lounge. Cleanliness was disappointing, bathroom wash basin pedestal, skirting boards, were dusty, biscuit wrapper under bed. We did not meet the host, only met the man putting out breakfast and cleaning., we did hear that there were some staffing issues , regular staff off sick. This is more an Air B and B rather than an Inn, however all these issues could very easily be put right as this is potentially an excellent place to stay.

The decor and the ambience.

The location was great, close to downtown and quiet. The beds were comfy and lots of towels and toiletries were provided. The home itself is beautiful and well appointed. The owner was prompt with communication and generally helpful.
We were told that there was a mistake on the website and that breakfast wasn't included and that a room with breakfast should cost $25 more. This seems like an issue to discuss with booking.com rather than the guest. The owner offered to provide some muffins and fruit, which she did (there was some banana bread and questionably fresh apples left for us) but it was a bit off putting to be told that she was essentially doing more than should be expected, despite the room advertised on the website saying it included a continental breakfast. A miscommunication on the part of the website should not be the problem of the guest making the booking. We paid for the room as advertised with a breakfast included.
We did not realize this is more of a guest house than a hotel per se. There was no staff and kitchen facilities are self service and shared with other guests. No coffee maker was provided in the room, so we were offered free coffee via the shared coffee maker in the kitchen. When I went to use it, it was full of old coffee and coffee grounds, so I decided to get coffee elsewhere.
Guests should also be aware this is a heritage home, and the electricity seems to have not been upgraded. I blew a fuse running the bathroom fan and a hair dryer at the same time. Central heating was not working I guess and we were provided with a space heater. Being April this was warm enough. I can only assume they run the heat in the dead of winter.
