About this house rental
Ridge Cottage is situated on a quiet private road just 2 mins walk to the beautiful beach at Old Hunstanton and is next door to the well renowned Hunstanton Golf Course.
The property has two bedrooms with King Size beds and a family bathroom upstairs. Downstairs there is a double bedroom, a downstairs toilet, living room, kitchen and conservatory.
Outside there is ample off-road parking for two vehicles, a secure back garden and a side patio to enjoy the sunshine on. A lockable storage shed is available to put bikes, golf clubs and beach toys etc in. There is also a charcoal bbq (Charcoal not provided)
One well behaved dog is allowed and we would ask that they remain on the ground floor (there is a stair gate). All bed linen and towels are provided. The property also has wifi, a wireless speaker and digital tv.
Old Hunstanton is the perfect base for discovering everything that North West Norfolk has to offer.
With its stunning sandy beach, sand dunes and pretty beach huts, Old Hunstanton also has an excellent 18 hole golf course. Some of the very best links courses that the UK can offer can be found right on the doorstep, including the Royal West Norfolk golf course at Brancaster (just a five minute drive away). All of these golf clubs combine a great game of golf with stunning Norfolk coastal scenery.
Enjoy a delicious meal out at the Michelin starred Neptune Inn or The Lodge Hotel or Mariners pub/restaurant. The Lifeboat Inn, Chequers or Orange Tree at Thornham are all well worth a visit as is The Gin Trap Inn at Ringstead. Head to Brancaster and enjoy marsh views while dining from the verandah at the rear of The White Horse.
Some of Norfolk’s most historic halls and houses are situated very close by to this pretty medieval village; Sandringham House, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, St Georges Guildhall and Blickling Hall are all nearby. On a Thursday, visitors can explore the grounds of Old Hunstanton Hall which offer a complete contrast to coastal scenery.
Norfolk is also one of the country’s leading bird watching areas and the North Norfolk coast between Hunstanton and Blakeney is particularly famous. This includes the renowned RSPB Titchwell reserve, Holme Nature Reserve, and Scolt Head Island. Holme is only three miles away and Snettisham RSPB Reserve is just seven miles away. The National Nature Reserve at Holkham, Blakeney Point and Cley Reserve offer the opportunity to see wildlife in its natural habitat and are all worth a visit. Make sure you don’t leave North Norfolk without taking a trip to see the seals.
From Brancaster Staithe, you can catch a ferry to Scolt Head Island, if you truly want to get away from it all and appreciate how beautiful and unspoilt this coastline really is. Or alternatively try the sailing facilities here. Don’t forget to stop and buy a crab or samphire from the hut on the hard at Brancaster Staithe or from one of the fishermen’s houses in the village.
Old Hunstanton is conveniently located for visiting many of Norfolk’s places of interest. Those craving some retail therapy can visit trendy Burnham Market with all its independent shops, boutiques, art galleries. Don’t leave without visiting its famous fish shop; Gurneys to pick up some local delicacies. If you’re looking for some shopping closer to home, then visit Le Strange Old Barns in Old Hunstanton.
Hunstanton town offers plenty of fun for the whole family and the Sealife Sanctuary is well worth a visit along with a trip on the Wash Monster, a visit to the fun fair or a round of crazy golf. For those wanting more adrenaline, enjoy one of the many activities on offer at the water sports centre.
With historic King’s Lynn only 30 minutes drive away and the cathedral cities of Norwich an easy drive away, you are spoilt for choice!

Cottage was ideal for 2 persons, if there was any more there was no where for them to sit in the lounge to watch TV
Also a warning about the shower ceiling if you are tall you would have to kneel in the show because of the sloping roof
Otherwise all ok

Great property, good location but not 100% clean. Had to wash a few pots before use and lots of dust under the bed. Windows dirty and quite a lot of dust and cobwebs. The settee was the hardest, ugliest and most uncomfortable that we have ever sat on. It was large enough for myself and my sister but I can’t see 6 adults stopping there comfortably. In all we had a good week but the sofa meant we couldn’t really relax in the evening so had to sit in the conservatory.

We stayed at Ridge Cottage for g weeks from Jan 12-feb 16 2024. On our arrival everything was so clean and perfect we just were able to settle right in. Mark was wonderful needful the way he always answered our questions immediately and with great advice of where to go. We enjoyed our stay so much we would come back again and also tell our friends and family about this little gem. Thank you Mark for a great stay.

We rerurned to the cottage having stayed before and loved it. Cottage is comfortable and in an excellent position for the beach and dog walks at any time of year. Also plenty of places to visit within a short drive. Would love to return again.

Had a very nice stay, Mark the owner let me bring my two elderly cats, who have to have medication, every day. Property is in a nice location, hotel and restaurant just up the road. Everything provided, nice garden to sit in, only one negative for me personally. The sofa is low but I am an older person and found it difficult to get up from, rest of property can't fault. Already reccomend to friends and family.

6.0 / 10.0
Unfortunately perfect location was the only good thing.
The negatives are
1. Patio door was broken
2. Upstairs cold water tap loose
3. Leaking shower hose on bath
4. Possibly a small blockage from bath as water did not drain very fast
5. No hand towels in down stairs toilet
6. No tea cloths in kitchen
7. Minimal toilet rolls for all toilets
8. Although the house smelt nice when entering the banisters where very sticky, obviously not cleaned!
Fortunately the weather was superb and with the great location we had a good holiday, but I have never before had to provide basic amenities.

Lovely cottage, a very short walk to the beach. Quiet road and peaceful location.. Everything we could have wished for. Thank you

We did find the layout of the property a bit strange having the large toilet/sink room taking up a good part of what could be a large lounge . This was done so that a third bedroom could also be downstairs but by doing this if more then a couple were staying there just would not be room for more people in the lounge. We thought it would have made more sense to make a bigger kitchen with a toilet/sink using up the downstairs bedroom and keep the upstairs with two bedrooms making one of the bedrooms a family room with bunk beds. But for just the two of us we had a lovely stay, and as it was the hottest weather on record the aircon in the bedrooms was blissful. We love the area and just wish we could live there. Wonderful Break !!

Lovely property in a great location.
Compact but well-equipped property. Nicely decorated and furnished. Comfortable beds and seating. Lovely quiet road and just a few minutes walk to the beach. Everything seemed clean except for a few items in the kitchen, which was a little disconcerting In the current climate. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to illness, otherwise I’m sure we would have had a lovely week.

We had a great Xmas break & would 100% recommend the only Fly in the ointment was it stated I could get Netflix etc through Amazon but this was not possible as I think a different tv if I had know would have brought my fire stick also as I’m 6,4 I did struggle in the shower over bath , a fantastic clean property cheers

Great location, everything we needed.
Cottage was in a good location for dog walks to the beach and access to parts of the North Norfolk coast with restaurants within easy walk. The bedroom accommodation was good for 5 adults and comfortable. Unfortunately we didn't think that the sitting room had adequate seating for 5-6 adults comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining area in the conservatory was a real bonus for the two nights we ate in and played games around the table. Issue with the downstairs toilet was a little annoying as flush was faulty but owner was very efficient when we contacted him and solved another problem we had on the first day and responded both before our stay and during quickly and positively. Garden was well enclosed for our dog and good seating on a warm evening to sit out and enjoy sea air. On the whole we had good family time with our grown up children, thank you. .

Wonderful coastal break
Mark's wonderful property was the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful north Norfolk coast. Literally 2/3 mins from seemingly endless beaches, the sense of peace and solitude was overwhelming, and beautifully so. Further afield (though not much further) we enjoyed exploring the many small villages, all with great pubs, and terrific seafood. The cottage itself is on a private road, with passing golfers the most visible neighbours, so the sense of peace and quiet is at home too. Mark was a gracious host and was immediately on the case when the TV expired, arriving promptly within a few hours with an upgraded model. Things can and do go wrong on holiday, with the test being how quickly owners put them right. Mark was faultless in that respect. Very highly recommended: thanks Mark!

Great location
Located in a private road right by the golf course and beautiful sand dunes. A Comfortable, clean property with all home home comforts and comfy beds. A short walk from an outstanding beach and a beach café. We stayed with our autistic son and our little dog. There is a stair gate to stop the dog going upstairs which was really useful and an enclosed garden. Two toilets and a shower/bath. Two good size bedrooms upstairs, tastefully decorated and plenty of wardrobe space and another bedroom downstairs. A great pub (Mariners) nearby with seating overlooking the sea. We contacted Mark about a small issue and he sorted it the following morning. Totally recommend it.

Cottage in a great location, very peaceful and easy access to the beach. We had great weather so we were out early at 6am walking the dogs on the beach before it was too hot. Lots of places to eat out, many dog friendly. Very relaxing 🙂

Lovely winter break
Short break to celebrate my Partners 60th birthday. Location is ideal, close to the beach and the property was warm and welcoming after walks on the beach with our dog. Due to COVID we were limited as to what we could do when out and about but had a relaxing break despite this. Would return in the future.

Fab house, close to the beach
Great stay in December. It was very cold but the house was lovely and warm and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s so close to the beach, and we had some lovely walks, including one to Hunstanton and back along the beach and the cliffs. We had the most amazing sunset walk on the beach on our first night, it was very beautiful. We will definitely be back!

Enjoyable little break
The cottage is delightful. The house keeper is a credit to the owners we arrived to a very clean warm and welcoming cottage. High quality bedding and mattresses - we slept extremely well after numerous walks on the beautiful beach within a 2 minute walk away. Old Hunstanton is a lovely little village restaurants in walking distance and a 30 min walk either along the beach or cliffs to nearby Hunstanton with more places to eat, shops etc. We were lucky with the weather and hope to have another little break as soon as the lock down allows.
