We stayed here for a baseball tournament. The host Mitzi was amazing. She was easy to contact and genuinely cared about our stay. There were no problems at all. The house was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed. I can’t say enough good about this stay!

This was a perfect location to call home base while celebrating our daughter at Hummingbird Hill Farm. A ton of charm and character- we really enjoyed our stay.

We needed a place to get together with family (4 adults; 3 children in total) for the weekend, and this location on Houston Lake Road was perfect. The road is busy, but it gave us easy access to the event in Perry we attended on Saturday and was conveniently close to services (grocery, etc.) we needed. The house itself is a quaint old farmhouse with high ceilings, an inviting front porch, and a quiet back yard.

Wonderful Farmhouse Stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Oak River Farmhouse. We had plenty of room to spread out and relax, but loved the quaint feeling of being close in one home. We had everything we needed during our stay. The house was well equipped. Do not let the other reviews of them working in a separate section of the house deter you from staying, we were there during the same time and never heard a thing. If we ever make it back to central Georgia, this is where we will be staying!

10/10 would stay again
The place was clean and cozy. The greeting left in the bedroom was very sweet along with the gift. Unfortunately I did not have time to use the jacuzzi but next time for sure. An outdoor hottub would have been heaven though. This was a very good location and well kept home. Thank you for allowing us to stay!

Very unique and cool house
We enjoyed staying at the house. Looks like it was built around 1900. Great porch and back yard. Nice kitchen and bedrooms. Decorated very nicely. I sort of like old homes that have been fixed up. I really liked being there!

Definitely a farmhouse experience
This home embodied the "farmhouse " look, feel and experience. The house was clean and quite comfortable. I loved the spacious rooms. There were a few disappointing factors such as lack of hot water to sustain a family of four, all of us experienced a cold shower. An iron and ironing board would've been nice, we had to borrow one from our family member and lastly my husband had to tackle a few unwanted creatures during our last night. One thing to note is this house is located on a busy road. If you are looking to sleep in, you will probably have no luck as the bedrooms are located in the front of the home that is closest to the road. Overall, a nice country home if you don't mind a few missing amenities.

Convenient and cute
We had an overall good experience at this location. We were in town for thanksgiving and this home was located very near to my mother’s home (who was hosting thanksgiving festivities). The kitchen was well stocked and had everything I needed to prepare my side dish for thanksgiving. One con is that the water dispenser and ice maker on the fridge do not work. We also couldn’t find coffee mugs but later realized on the last day of our stay that they were in the dishwasher.
I thought the home was overall clean. As someone who lives in a 1920’s bungalow, I was not surprised by some of the quirks this home has since it was built in 1900. Family members staying with me felt it could be a little cleaner, but I think that was primarily due to their unfamiliarity with older homes. Sound machines in the rooms was a nice touch as it’s located on a busy road. Beds are 1000% comfortable. Do note that there are only two proper beds and the other sleeping options (futon and couch) are located in a cooler den area at the back of the home.
I felt a little uneasy with the owner’s business being accessible from the interior of the home. This didn’t prove to be an issue for us, however.

Needs Some Serious Cleaning & Fixing Up
First of all I would not give it any "stars". There are some serious issues that need updating at this home: The (uncovered) "pit" in the driveway, rotting porch steps (one ready to go at any time), the light bulb hanging over the kitchen stove, the filthy chair in the back room, the floor is also rotted through in the master bedroom by the fireplace, and the kitchen cupboards are greasy and grimy. This house needs a GOOD cleaning! The posted pictures are misleading - this house is no way that bright and cute - don't be fooled. We didn't stay one single night!!! Contacted the owner, she came over, we chatted, and of course she saw nothing wrong with the place. She ended up calling her husband (I guess) and he must have told her to leave. She also runs a small business from the back of the house, had I seen that in the description we never would have rented it. I have several pictures but didn't see where to post them here. Find a different place to stay people, you can't sleep when that air conditioner is running!

Our family of three enjoyed our stay at Oak River! We were in town for a horse show in Perry at the Agri Center and the house was close and convenient. We liked having room to spread out and were happy to cook our own breakfasts at the house before leaving for the show. The beds were very comfortable so we were well rested. We appreciated the white noise machines in each room because they eased the street noise. There were plenty of towels available and the kitchen is well appointed for cooking. The decor is amazing too and the pictures are accurate. We loved going out into the back yard and enjoyed watching a rain storm from the back room where we were safe and warm. We didn’t watch TV but I saw that there were televisions available. We also enjoyed dinner in Perry at The Swanson, which was delicious! Mitzi also provided us with some other restaurant options in the area which were great! We hope to visit again!

Charming country style house
We had a great stay as we were in town for a family wedding. It accommodated is well, grown ups as well as the kids. It was easy to communicate with the owner, they were very responsive. It would have been helpful to have some blankets and sheets since we needed to use the air mattress and futon but there was nothing to use for them.

Charming Cottage
We were in town for a horse show, and the cottage was indeed very cozy and welcoming. The bedrooms were quite large, and that made for a spacious feel in such a cozy cottage. The decor was wonderful too. There were two things that we were not aware of before we arrived. We would have liked to have known about these prior to the day of our arrival. When we received check-in instructions on the day of our arrival, the last paragraph of the welcome message said, "We will be working out of the back of the house Tuesday-Friday 11am-6pm. However, it is a separate entrance and we will not be in your way." This office abuts the master bedroom, and we could hear voices from the office throughout the day. Also, the door to this space locks from the other side, but cannot be locked by the guest. So, with two young daughters, it concerned us to know that someone could come in at any time, and we could not control that. We wish we had been made aware of this prior to booking. The home also sits right on a main road, which is convenient, but somewhat noisy with a good amount of traffic. Your home is beautiful and you were very gracious hosts. We sincerely appreciated staying.

Georgia Trip with the Family
The property was very nice, roomy and spacious. With six of us the amenities were great and we had a relaxing stay at the house. The house has a lot of character and is unique. The property manager is very friendly, communicative and checked in with us during our stay. We would love to stay at the house again on a future trip - the Brakenhoff family
