About this house rental
The house is perched on a bluff with open views of Skaneateles Lake, with 300 feet of lakefront below. Located on a little-developed stretch of the eastern shore, you approach from deep woods of oak and sycamore, revealing the lake as you near the house.
The beautiful modern design is finished in redwood, both on the exterior and much of the interior. The house has two wings separated by outdoor decks. One wing is one story with living area, dining area, kitchen, bath and two bedrooms (traditionally the "kids' side"). The other wing has two stories with a bedroom on each floor and a half bath on the second floor (traditionally the "grown-ups' side").
The outdoor decks are delightful places to dine or relax with a full view of the lake. A huge oak grows through the lower deck, giving shade.
The water in Skaneateles Lake is crystal clear and clean. The waterfront has a dock with a wide area for sitting. Guests may use two kayaks and a canoe, with life jackets and paddles provided. There's also a floating splash mat- huge fun for kids! Guests may bring their own boats and use a mooring provided near the dock.
The house has no air conditioning. There is a fireplace and 3 space heaters for heating. Thanks to its location, air conditioning isn’t needed. There are fans in every room for warm nights. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, heat isn’t needed either. Earlier in May and after the third week of September the fireplace and space heaters work well, along with nice blankets we provide.
NOTE: Due to multiple changes in level and steps to the lake, this property is NOT SUITABLE for those with mobility challenges.
PRICE REDUCTION: The price that appears on this website reflects a discount of $100 per night from the initial price.

We had a lovely long weekend here! The highlights are definitely the outdoor deck for morning coffee, meals and evening chats; and of course the gorgeous lake itself! The dock is just a short walk down from the house, and we had a great time on the kayaks and floating mat.

Private, beautiful wooded location with view of the lake. Great dock, perfect for lounging, boating, fishing and swimming. Convenient kitchen.

This is a great waterfront cottage for a larger group that includes kids or teenagers. We had daily swims, played games and relaxed with a book on the porch. On the weekend there is lots of activity on the water (boats and jet skis) but it was very quiet at night and on weekdays. The nearest town is about 20 minutes drive. We loved it!

My husband, friends, and I had a special two weeks at the house located in the most serene area of Skaneateles Lake. We had no reason to leave the property given the private location, beautiful views from the outdoor deck and lake dock, and kayaking up and down the shore. This is a memorable place for friends and families to gather, share meals, and enjoy the outdoors. We all plan to return next year.

My wife and I and 2 daughters and 1 son, their 3 spouses and 3 grandkids, age 3, 6 and 7 all made the trip. We spent the week swimming, kayaking, fishing and cruising in the rowboat. My son-in-law brought an electric motor. We had a great time. We mostly ate at the cottage. The kitchen handled everything we cooked. The housing worked out really well. My son and daughter with kids stayed in the north buiding while grandparents and my daughter and her husband stayed in the south building. We really enjoyed it.
The descent to the lake and climb back to the house were more rugged that we would want. We would have preferred an easier access to the water.
Overall, we really enjoyed it. However, if we come again, we would look for a place with easier access to the water.

Amazing cabin in the woods with quiet lake front. Very private and secluded.

Property is as described. Cabin is rustic but very comfortable. There is lots of room for a group. We had five adults. Too early in the season to enjoy the water but the view was nice. It’s important to read the instructions to the cabin carefully as the road could be hard to navigate otherwise. We had no problem at all! I enjoyed the stocked kitchen and the beds were all comfortable. It was really nice not to have to bring our own linens also. Huge living room and large dining table were great for playing games.

My family had a great time here! The lake is crystal clear and wasn’t too cold. We had a great time swimming and some of us fished. The house’s design is really cool and it’s set up to host large groups (so much helpful cookware!). The house is not great for those afraid of spiders or corners in need of a deep cleaning, but was just fine for our group. We enjoyed the kayaks too. Town at north of lake is adorable and lots of great farm stands nearby too.

So much to love about this place: quiet, deep in the woods, a space with original style and mid century details, plenty to do on the lake or just hanging out on the deck. Our adult kids and grand kids loved every bit of it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lake House. Family from Virginia, Wisconsin, and Illinois visited upstate NY for a family reunion in nearby Madison County. We were fortunate to have great weather for swimming & boating on such an incredible lake. What a treat!

This lovely lakeside home is the perfect blend of nature and nurture.
The owners offer an honest and accurate representation of what this lovely house/camp can offer the right family or group of friends who are looking for a quiet place to gather in a beautiful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our time for our family reunion with 10 people and one dog. We were able to cook, converse and commune with nature which was our our goal. The design of the indoor and outdoor spaces allowed for privacy and connection with people and nature. The outdoor deck was a beautiful place to eat, visit or nap at all times under the shade of the trees or the evening lights. Having access to the lake with the dock, chairs, and kayaks was great. Though the lake was cool (late May), 7 of the 10 of us took a refreshing swim after a hike one day. The clarity of the water was extraordinary and welcome. The rooms all have windows with access to fresh air and beautiful views of the woods or the water. The beds were very comfortable and everyone slept well. The kitchen is very well equipped and the adjacent large table for prepping, snacking and eating was great. Each morning and evening we made use of the well positioned fireplace for both warmth and ambience which was a welcome addition. People could be close for warmth or more distant for just the view of the fire and there was ample space for all of us to be in the living room for conversations or games/puzzles. We visited Ithaca within an hour and were in the town of Skaneateles in about 20 minutes which afforded something for everyone, if they needed an activity. But we did wonder why we ever left the dock, the deck, the views and the quiet. We hope to return again!

Wonderful home!
House is secluded with neighbors far enough away that you don’t even notice them - perfect to get away and enjoy nature. Views of the lake are amazing, both inside and out. Plenty of room for sleeping. Kids enjoyed the bunkbeds. Steps to lake were clear and accessible. Everything you would need to make meals was available in the decent sized kitchen. Beds were comfortable. Having the second building would make it perfect for a multi family vacation. Skaneateles is a great town located nearby. Owners very responsive and accommodating. Looking forward to going back and already booked another long weekend!!!

Beautiful Setting on Lake Skaneateles
The setting for the house is beautiful, directly on the lake with wonderful views. We spent a lot of time sitting in front of the window enjoying this view. The road leading to the house is a bit challenging - steep in parts and rutted. While the house is quirky, it is well equipped with necessities. It would be great for a group that likes kayaking or fishing.

Extremely Beautiful Venue
Absolutely beautiful site! Take care as you drive in as road is steep. Very comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace and cooking extremely yummy food. You will definitely find everything you need in this kitchen. We were excited to still be able to swim ! Loved the seclusion and quiet. I would not recommend for small children . I have some knee problems and had no problem getting up to second floor bed room or down the stairs to water.

It's like a tree house
This house was very unique. When taking the roads into the woods it was a little scary but once you did it the next time wasn't too bad, but was not expecting it at first. First night was a little chilly (labor day weekend) so we had to use the space heaters and the fireplace, it wasn't bad at all! The views are amazing and the dock was great. We spent our nights and days down there enjoying the water! It's like camping but upscale. Kitchen was had all the necessities and gas grill and charcoal. Bedrooms were spacious and had lots of sleeping space. Would recommend for anyone that likes the outdoors.

Great views and lake access
We had a great stay at this house. It was so nice eating on the deck and relaxing with the lake views. The kitchen was very well stocked in terms of cooking equipment and had all we needed to make some tasty food for our group. The decor and vibe of the house is very nice and relaxing. The house is definitely an old school lake cabin but we loved our time there. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

Nice place for large groups
Very nice lakefront property with beautiful views. There were some spiders and egg sacs honestly and getting into the camp was a bit challenging as far as the roads go (twisty, steep, no shoulder). Otherwise a great time was had by us all as a family. The water was amazing! Great memories!!!

Overall good stay
Good stay for a group of friends. Best part was the deck that had a great view. Things that could use improving would be some blinds or curtians on the windows in the bedooms. There was no air conditioning but the property is surrounded by trees so it never got too hot. There was also a fan in every bedroom.

Quietest camp on Skaneateles Lake
The property was exactly as described. Great place for a multi-generational family trip because of the different bedrooms and seclusion. It's the second-to-last house before an undeveloped part of the lake so its absolutely quiet and beautiful all day and evening, especially if you want to take a little kayak trip. The road is a little bit hairy, so make sure you go slow and keep the lights on. The house would also benefit from a house number or VRBO sign. But if you go too far, the neighbors are really nice and will turn you around! Thank you for hosting us, we had a really nice time.
