Escape to this beautiful home and cottage and enjoy the best of two worlds - both Mendocino Village and Mendocino Headlands State Park are literally at your doorstep! Or if you prefer, stroll five minutes in the other direction to quaint cafés, bakeries, boutiques, restaurants, and galleries.
The home, an historical landmark built in 1881, has just the right blend of style, luxury, and rustic character. Combined with the cottage, it is the perfect destination for that much-needed multi-generational family vacation or a large, heartwarming reunion of friends.
Headlands View Home & Cottage boasts plenty of spaces to gather together and also enjoy a bit of privacy and quiet reflection over the course of your stay - you choose! There is a large living area with both a wood-burning fireplace and zoned central heating, not to mention gorgeous views! In a second living area, you’ll discover a gas fireplace, a small desk, and more gorgeous views. Step outdoors and enjoy multiple decks with chairs and benches. Some guests could easily watch TV or play games in one living area while others read, listen to music, or reminisce in the other living area. Or, retreat to the cottage and let the downstairs gas fireplace keep you warm as you snuggle up in the two luxurious recliner chairs or the sofa to read, watch TV, or simply take in the view in silence. The upstairs cottage bedroom has a built-in desk and two rocking chairs that look out over Mendocino Headlands State Park, providing additional spaces to read, talk, doze, or quietly reflect.
The fully equipped kitchen has everything you will need to cook up many satisfying meals. Fourteen people can eat together using the kitchen table with leaf extensions and an adjoining bar. If you prefer cooking outdoors, just head to the back deck and turn on the gas grill.
Headlands View Home & Cottage provides a wide variety of sleeping accommodations and can sleep up to 14 people altogether. Note that most bedrooms are actually open lofts. The home’s north wing has a queen-size bed in an open loft and a double sleeper sofa downstairs, complete with a comfy memory foam mattress. Next to the kitchen is a small bedroom with a double bed. Head upstairs to find two open lofts, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds. The cottage has a queen sleeper sofa downstairs, complete with a comfy memory foam mattress. A spiral staircase leads to a beautiful loft upstairs with a queen bed.

We had a great stay at this home in beautiful Mendocino. The size was just right and we had the max 14 people. (A small squeeze as far as beds, I wouldn’t count folding mattresses as a bed) plenty of towels and dishes for all. Our only difficulty was the house rule of needing to complete all dishes prior to their oddly early check out of 10am.
Close to everything and very cozy. We especially liked having the cottage as well as the main house. The sauna and hot tub were divine!

Great house with the exception that bathrooms are downstairs and 2 of 3 bedrooms are upstairs, beware for the mobility-challenged. Great, well-stocked kitchen. Great wood stove, lots of room and easy walk into town or out to bluffs.

This old home was very nicely maintained, had plenty of space for 9 adults celebrating a wedding, nice outdoor areas and well equipped for dinners at home. Location was perfect for walking into town or scenic hikes along the bluffs over the Pacific.

This house is in a great location. Easy walk into Mendocino to enjoy all it has to offer. Right next to the Headlands park and the amazing trails it offers along the bluffs by the ocean. Lots of fun games at the house for all to enjoy. You can see the ocean and the lighthouse from the house too.

The house and cottage fit all 12 of us plus a new grandson. Kitchen is well equipped. The hot tub and sauna were welcome. The weather was incredible, and we saw a pod of dolphins dancing in the waves. The wood stove kept us comfy,

This home is so close to many trails. It is also walking distance from the shops and restaurants in Mendocino. The house is well equipped including board games for when it is raining outside. Our family greatly enjoyed our stay! We would stay here again for sure.

Beautiful and comfortable home with more than enough room for our group of eight! Another four guests or so would have fit just fine too. With two lofts and a cottage, there was even room to get some peace and quiet when needed, haha. The kitchen is extremely well-appointed and comfortable to cook in. We were easily able to walk into town and to a beautiful vantage point to watch the sunset. My only caveat is that while there is one bedroom on the first floor, all bathrooms were down a few stairs, which was a little tough for one of our party who is handicapped. I checked to be sure that a bedroom was accessible and then didn't think to check the bathrooms, so that's on me!

Beautiful, warm and spacious home
The Fike's home is spacious, warm and located at the edge of town making it super easy and fast to get to the ocean. All the comforts of home, including a great hot tub and sauna that truly added to the experience.

Awesome Compound at the Headlands
This is a great compound for a family in a prime location in the cute town of Mendocino. The place is very comfortable for multiple families and is easy walking access to the headlands, the beach and the town center. One of the best places to stay in town!

We had a wonderful four night stay and were reluctant to leave at the end. It isn't a big house, but it's set up well to accommodate a crowd. It's comfy and welcoming and the kitchen is very well stocked. The wood stove and plenty of dry wood was a treat and made the foggy mornings cozy. It's a great location right at the edge of town, bordering the headlands.
