About this cottage rental
Overlooking beautiful gardens, the spacious Hodder Cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests across three bedrooms. Located next door to Ribble cottage, Hodder benefits from an open-plan layout and skylights that flood the interior with natural light.
While the master bedroom has its own luxury en-suite, the two additional doubles and one twin bedroom share a master bathroom that boasts a roll top bath, sink and shower. This makes Hodder a great choice for friends and families.
The kitchen design is perfect for social gatherings so the ‘designated chef’ won’t miss out on any of the fun. It’s well equipped and has all the utensils you need to cook up a storm. The extendable dining table also comfortably seats six. In the lounge area, two comfy sofas, a flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player and WiFi throughout the cottage will keep guests entertained on rainy days. Bi-fold doors in the lounge frame a serene view of the trees and open out onto a sun-soaked patio complete with outdoor dining area. Here, guests can spend summer evenings outside cooking a meal on the BBQ and watching the sun set over the treetops.
There’s something for everyone in the surrounding area. From horse riding on heather-clad hillsides, to wild winding climbs, and tempting trails for cyclists of all abilities - both on and off-road. Dean Clough reservoir and the beautiful nearby pine forests are practically on our doorstep. Pendle Hill, Stonyhurst, Marles Wood to Dinckley Bridge, Longridge Fell, Three Rivers, Dunsop Bridge and The Tolkien Trail are a just few of the many walks nearby.
For days out by car, The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the seaside are all less than an hour away.
We are perfectly situated for guests coming further afield as we’re close to Junction 31 of the M6 with very good transport links. Preston is a 30 min drive away where direct trains go to London (2 hrs), to Glasgow (2 hrs) and to Edinburgh (2 hrs 30 mins). Described as Lancashire and Yorkshire’s hub into and out of the North, Manchester and Leeds are approx 1 hr drive away and both cities have international airports.

Great welcome from Sue on arrival. Ian had already helped me hours before we arrived as I only booked 5 nights instead of 6. Can’t recommended Hodder Cottage more, the whole grounds are lovely & well maintained. It was a great base to start our visits to family & friends in the area.
To top it all Sue very kindly arranged for my glasses to be posted back to me in Berkshire after I left them in a drawer! Can’t take me anywhere!! Will definitely return. Thank you both.

Fantastic stay at Oakdean
This is our second visit to Oakdean Cottages. We stayed in Hodder Cottage which is absolutely lovely, spotlessly clean, comfortable with thoughtful equipment and welcoming package which we were very grateful for. Ian and Sue are always delightful hosts. We had a lovely intimate private family celebration of our Mum’s 80th birthday. Thank you so much for a wonderful, memorable time. We would highly recommend a visit here as it’s beautifully situated with picturesque scenery and walks locally.

Wow!
We stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The cottages are in a beautiful location and with lovely landscaping. The property was immaculate inside and out and the finish of everything was to a very high standard. Sue and Ian made everything very straightforward in advance of our trip and kindly provided lots of equipment for my young daughter which made the trip that much easier. We were welcomed on arrival and made to feel very at ease. We wish we could have stayed longer but we will be back! Thank you for such a lovely stay.

We spent 4 excellent nights at this lovely property. Facilities were very modern. Very beautifully landscaped gardens conducive to children and adults. Amenities were top notch - kitchen was glorious. Very lovely bathrooms- bath is absolutely to die for. Neighbourhood very lovely for scenic strolls by the reservoirs and surrounding towns. Our family found it relaxing and rejuvenating. Home away from home- looking forward to going again soon

Wonderful home
As a group of friends who came for a weekend break, we couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more! Lovely warm welcome when we arrived and shown around the house. Everything absolutely immaculate yet still so homely. Definitely a great location for families. Shops, pubs etc a few minutes drive away however we opted for walking and taking in the scenery - 10/10 location just stunning. Couldn’t recommend enough, thank you so much for having us!!

Excellent
A beautiful and very clean cottage, with some lovely welcoming touches. For example, we have a small baby and not only were a cot and high chair provided as promised, but there were also some children's books and bath toys.
The Forest of Bowland was also well worth exploring!
We will definitely stay again!

Fabulous!
We highly recommend these properties! Superb location and fantastic accommodation. We had two of the properties adjoining each other which worked brilliantly for our family group. We were there for a wedding at Mitton Hall in Clitheroe and so this was perfect all round! 5 star in terms on cleanliness, décor, facilities etc and we would love to stay again in the summer as the views are wonderful and so that we could enjoy sitting outside. Towelling robes etc gave that 5 star feel. Sue and Ian were superb hosts and welcomed us on our arrival. Highly recommend!! Would definitely stay again!

Oakdean cottages review.
Stunning views over the Ribble Valley make these cottages a wonderful place to stay. The accommodation was of a very high standard with welcome touches on arrival such as biscuits and flowers. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed for self catering guests. The cottages were beautifully clean and all appliances worked efficiently. The owners, Ian and Sue, were available to welcome guests and very helpful in sorting out any problems. All of the family party were staying in the three cottages to attend a wedding and everyone praised the accommodation and relaxing atmosphere of the cottages.

5 star accomodation in a beautiful location
A 5 star property that we used to visit family over Christmas. Superb location, excellent standard of accommodation with lovely touches such as robes & hairdryers which helps when travelling. The owners Ian & Sue made us welcome the moment we arrived & provide a professional but very friendly service. Would highly recommend this property for visiting the North West of England, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent accommodation in a lovely peaceful setting.
Fantastic accommodation with everything you could possibly need .
Sue and Ian (who we sadly did not meet as they were on holiday ) have been so helpful with taxi suggestions and providing a grab rail in the shower for my husband who has disabilities.
We all loved the Velux windows and the layout was ideal for a grown up family gathering :we stayed here for a wedding at Bashall barn .
We hope to return at a future date to explore the area as not really enough time for that .

Stunning location
Felt like we were away abroad on a luxury holiday. The location and style of cottage is superb. Attention to detail in contents of kitchen, appliances and bathroom toiletries was the best we've ever experienced in a self catering property. A truly relaxing week in beautiful surroundings.
