About this cottage rental
Summary:
A characterful and cosy cottage located in the quaint village of Turnchapel, near Plymouth. The house, which dates back to 1780, is full of traditional features such as stone walls, wooden floorboards and exposed wooden beams. It has had a recent renovation and is flooded with plenty of natural light.
The Space:
On the top floor is a vaulted ceiling living room with a log burner and Juliet balcony, which offers unrestricted views over the harbour. There is also a smart TV with Apps & DVD player for cosy nights in. Downstairs, the kitchen has new integrated appliances and coffee machine, a dining area and a large terrace - perfect for alfresco dining. On the bottom floor you'll find two bedrooms, one with a full size double and the other with small double (4ft x 6ft 3) and single sofa bed. Both share a washroom and a family bathroom with separate shower and bath with toasty underfloor heating. You can also access the well-sized patio garden which is a real sun trap and the perfect spot to relax. Ample parking in two free car parks (see Notes) . Dogs welcome with fee of £20/dog (max 2).
Turnchapel is an idyllic village located within a listed conservation area. The cottage has a brilliant spot right on the estuary of the river Plym, and offers lovely views on the water, the Barbicans/Hoe, Dartmoor and Mount Batten. You are located within less than 1 minute from the water, and there are 2 small beaches in the village itself. There are ample beaches all around; Bovisand is just a 15 minute drive away whilst Bantham is reachable in 45 minutes and is great for surfing. The South West Coastal Path is also right on the doorstep, providing stunning walks for hikers of all abilities.
There are two eating pubs in the village, The Clovelly Bay Inn (which has been named the best pub in Plymouth) and the Boringdon Arms, which has a pretty garden. The Clovelly Inn is quite literally 20 steps from the house and is a great spot to grab a drink. There is a cafe around the corner in the village (3 minutes walk) which offers great food and terrace seating overlooking the marina. There are two further pubs on the waterfront nearby (5-10 minutes walk) called the Bridge and The Mount Batten Bar.
The taxi boat service to the Barbicans, Plymouth City Center and Royal William Yard in the listing (£2 per trip) is a great way to access the city. It runs until 11pm every day during the summer, and until 6pm Sunday to Thursday and till 11pm Fridays and Saturdays during the winter.

Good enough break for 4 days but not much to do there in the daytime as public house didn't open till 6pm so unable to have lunch.

The house is located in a very quiet and relaxing town which is perfect if you want to avoid the busy and touristy crowd. The house was exactly as described and clean. The recommendations were useful and we enjoyed the two local pubs round the corner.

Spotless cottage with amazing views of the harbour from the sitting room on top floor. Comfortable sofa, even binoculars to watch goings on. Welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk etc which was nice. Washing machine was handy, I bought washing powder but there was some to use. Bed okay but a little on the hard side for my liking. Very handy for ferry to Plymouth. Clovelly Inn food was nice but beware you have to book

The cottage and the village of Turnchapel are both very special and we feel very fortunate to have found them both. A hidden gem across the water from the lights of Plymouth; Quiet & calm escape from the bustle of everyday life. The cottage was lovely, cosy & well-equipped … Will definitely return!

Sehr zufrieden
Wundervoll!

Great place. Awful host
Lovely place, great location, lovely views and the parking was easy. Wouldn’t stay again as the host was awful,. Payment was only taken 12 days after booking as the host messed up the payments and then threatened legal action for their mistake. Booking in they tried to charge higher cleaning fees than those on Vrbo and despite saying they would take dogs tried to say at the last minute we couldn’t. Shame as we really enjoyed the house and the village.

Adorable house with amazing sea views. Loved watching the sunset. Great layout and good sized rooms. Absolutely spotless. Lovely quiet location but just a few minutes to the water taxi at Mount Barton. Would definitely visit again.

This cottage is beautifully set up for a family holiday by the sea. From the peaceful deck or balcony you can watch boats passing on the river. Beaches and the coast path are on the doorstep and Plymouth a short ferry ride away. The kitchen is very well equipped if you want to cook. Highly recommended.
