Welcome to Cat Point Hideaway!

Location, location, location! Cat Point Hideaway is located on 4.5 acres near the foot of the St. George Island bridge at ‘Cat Point’ in Eastpoint, only 5 miles from the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Cat Point’s quiet bay beach has been a beloved location for local fisherman and has witnessed generations of oystermen and women harvesting those famous Apalachicola Bay oysters from the once bountiful waters of the Apalachicola Bay.

This secluded 4BR/2.5BA Bayfront home can be found on private land surrounded by oaks, palmettos and pines with unobstructed Bay views and direct access to the shoreline. Walk along the sandy bay beach, collect seashells and relax among the coastal vegetation in your own private sanctuary!

The main floor of the home offers an open living space with water views and access to a large covered deck overlooking the beach, a great spot to watch the sunrise and relax among the Oaks. Just past the living room is a half bath which opens into a separate bathroom with tub/shower. Two bedrooms each with a Queen bed are at the end of the hall. A Queen sleeper sofa in the living room offers additional sleeping accommodations for two.

Upstairs is the bunk bedroom which can sleep up to 4. Guests of this room will enjoy the best views of the neighboring pond, home to many local water birds. The master bedroom can be found just across the hall and offers a King bed, a private bathroom with shower and a balcony with Bay views.

Outside amenities feature a hot tub, enclosed outdoor shower, fishing cleaning area, park-style charcoal grill, fire pit, under-house parking and large, open yard space.

As our public beaches are pet friendly, we happily allow up to 2 well-behaved medium size dogs with advance approval for an additional fee. Please note, dogs are required to be leashed on public beaches.

Just a short stroll from the property is the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) where you can learn about the local Florida habitat, view exhibits of estuarine life and find out how the River, Bay and the Gulf connect.

Nearby ‘Cat Point Trail’, just across Island Drive, is a short hiking trail which takes you into a coastal forest of mixed-pines and salt marsh habitat along the Apalachicola Bay. This half mile loop offers views of marsh and tidal pools without direct access to the Bay beach and is a great birding spot.

Ready to cast a line? The Eastpoint Fishing Pier, once the original bridge to St. George Island, is just a half mile from the property and offers 3,000 feet of bridge for walking, fishing or just enjoying the Bay views. Redfish, flounder and sea trout are among some of the more plentiful Bay catch, and dolphin sightings are common.

Experience a new adventure at Cat Point Hideaway!

We loved the location: isolated yet perfectly located right close to both bridges (st George and apalachicola) the place was very clean and throughly appreciated the second thermostat upstairs. The only recommendation for improvement would be the master bed room mattress it wasn’t very comfortable but overall we would stay here again due to the positive experience and most of all the location.

The home is quite new and nicely decorated. You cannot beat the customer service from Forgotten Shores!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As we turned down the dirt road we were greeted with a place better than we anticipated. Every couple had their own room, there was plenty of space for our nightly dinners, the screened in porch was perfect for late talks without worrying about mosquitoes, the dogs had ample room to play outside, the home provided us with a bike rental and corn hole set which we used daily. We took daily bike rides to the pier and nature preserve to the left and right of the property. We even saw a black bear, bobcat and eagles. We had one unforeseen problem with the refrigerator during our stay and the property managers resolved it immediately replacing the refrigerator with a brand new one. They were extremely communicative and responded immediately. If you are looking for a place to completely get away and unplug from the world, this is the place. We loved our stay and would book again.

We stayed at the house and it was wonderful as it was close to everything we needed to do. It is in Eastpoint and has a lovely sunrise view…we had work to do in both Apalachacola and St George Island and it was right in the middle of both locations! They could have been a little more generous with guest towels but we washed them and made do plus brought extra towels. Great house and great stay! We will rent again!
