Welcome to Cat Point Hideaway!
Location, location, location! Cat Point Hideaway is located on 4.5 acres near the foot of the St. George Island bridge at ‘Cat Point’ in Eastpoint, only 5 miles from the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Cat Point’s quiet bay beach has been a beloved location for local fisherman and has witnessed generations of oystermen and women harvesting those famous Apalachicola Bay oysters from the once bountiful waters of the Apalachicola Bay.
This secluded 4BR/2.5BA Bayfront home can be found on private land surrounded by oaks, palmettos and pines with unobstructed Bay views and direct access to the shoreline. Walk along the sandy bay beach, collect seashells and relax among the coastal vegetation in your own private sanctuary!
The main floor of the home offers an open living space with water views and access to a large covered deck overlooking the beach, a great spot to watch the sunrise and relax among the Oaks. Just past the living room is a half bath which opens into a separate bathroom with tub/shower. Two bedrooms each with a Queen bed are at the end of the hall. A Queen sleeper sofa in the living room offers additional sleeping accommodations for two.
Upstairs is the bunk bedroom which can sleep up to 4. Guests of this room will enjoy the best views of the neighboring pond, home to many local water birds. The master bedroom can be found just across the hall and offers a King bed, a private bathroom with shower and a balcony with Bay views.
Outside amenities feature a hot tub, enclosed outdoor shower, fishing cleaning area, park-style charcoal grill, fire pit, under-house parking and large, open yard space.
As our public beaches are pet friendly, we happily allow up to 2 well-behaved medium size dogs with advance approval for an additional fee. Please note, dogs are required to be leashed on public beaches.
Just a short stroll from the property is the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) where you can learn about the local Florida habitat, view exhibits of estuarine life and find out how the River, Bay and the Gulf connect.
Nearby ‘Cat Point Trail’, just across Island Drive, is a short hiking trail which takes you into a coastal forest of mixed-pines and salt marsh habitat along the Apalachicola Bay. This half mile loop offers views of marsh and tidal pools without direct access to the Bay beach and is a great birding spot.
Ready to cast a line? The Eastpoint Fishing Pier, once the original bridge to St. George Island, is just a half mile from the property and offers 3,000 feet of bridge for walking, fishing or just enjoying the Bay views. Redfish, flounder and sea trout are among some of the more plentiful Bay catch, and dolphin sightings are common.

We were a family of 12. Very comfortable! We had the best time on the bay watching sunsets and sunrise. We brought khakis and the guys loved fishing. Short drive across the bridge to beautiful beach’s.

We loved the location: isolated yet perfectly located right close to both bridges (st George and apalachicola) the place was very clean and throughly appreciated the second thermostat upstairs. The only recommendation for improvement would be the master bed room mattress it wasn’t very comfortable but overall we would stay here again due to the positive experience and most of all the location.

Nestled on two acres and surrounded by trees with an extensive beach along the bay, this very private location at the end of the bridge to St. George Island is a special place. The home is quite new and nicely decorated. You cannot beat the customer service from Forgotten Shores!

As we turned down the dirt road we were greeted with a place better than we anticipated. Every couple had their own room, there was plenty of space for our nightly dinners, the screened in porch was perfect for late talks without worrying about mosquitoes, the dogs had ample room to play outside, the home provided us with a bike rental and corn hole set which we used daily. We took daily bike rides to the pier and nature preserve to the left and right of the property. We even saw a black bear, bobcat and eagles. We had one unforeseen problem with the refrigerator during our stay and the property managers resolved it immediately replacing the refrigerator with a brand new one. They were extremely communicative and responded immediately. If you are looking for a place to completely get away and unplug from the world, this is the place. We loved our stay and would book again.

We stayed at the house and it was wonderful as it was close to everything we needed to do. It is in Eastpoint and has a lovely sunrise view…we had work to do in both Apalachacola and St George Island and it was right in the middle of both locations! They could have been a little more generous with guest towels but we washed them and made do plus brought extra towels. Great house and great stay! We will rent again!

We enjoyed the house and its surrounding property and bay beach access. House was comfortable and well furnished for our family needs. Particularly enjoyed the quiet location though close to both St George Island and Appalachicola. Would certainly consider renting again.

We four older women were unanimous in our feeling that this rental home exceeded our expectations, especially its unusually scenic location in a large private area speckled with live oaks, festooned with Spanish Moss. It faces the bay, beyond which is St. George’s Island, a very easy 5 miles across a causeway to its soft white sand beaches. The bay in front is backed by beach grasses and trees, absolutely beautiful, and there is a sub-tropical forest pond out back. There is no such thing as a room with a bad view, though our hang-out room was the delightful screen porch in front (with open deck in front of it). The bedrooms were large, with big windows, great sheets etc.. The kitchen was very modern, and well supplied with table- and cookware, but do bring ALL of your own edibles and extra paper products. Every room has a TV, if you want, and the stairs to the second floor are full-width (rather than attic-type challenging) with hand-rails. We loved it, and we will come back next year, the first annual site we have chosen to return to.The other huge plus is the wonderful town of Apalachicola, just over another 5 mile bridge to the west. It is a real treat. Between it, Eastpoint itself, and also St. George’s Island, there are splendid choices in places to eat, but do not miss very nearby Lynn’s seafood in Eastpoint, on the water. What would i wish to be different? The bathroom lay out could be better (those using the upstairs bunk room would need to use either the upstairs main bedroom’s en suite bathroom or the powder room downstairs). The mattress in the NE corner downstairs bedroom is way too soft for anyone with a bad back. It would be a bonus if basic condiments were there (a very trivial wish, reflecting our pleasure overall!). It would be nice if it were easy enough for old ladies’ fingers to open the hot tub’s lid safety latch (we therefore didn’t use it). Most important,

As a family that typically goes to 30A this was such a refreshing break. Slow pace. No traffic. Great cheap, fresh seafood minutes away. We had oysters every night. We rented a pontoon (minutes away) for the day and went out to Dog Island. The house was great for our 3 families and two small dogs. House is equipped with everything you need and room to spread out on the property. Hot tub was perfect for the time of year we went after coming back from paddle boarding and kayaking. Could see coming back here again soon.

The Private Bay House
The house was very nice, planed out very well. Nice view of the bay and surrounding environment. The equipment rental items were at the house when we arrived. Everyone enjoyed their time at the house. The water in the bay was not very clear and there were alot of sharp shells all along the beach front. The garbage was not picked up while we stayed there. The garbage containers were both full and when we arrived on the first day.

Great House and beautiful secluded property
House was great and property was amazing! 5 stars all the way. We rented a pontoon boat 3 of the days while there and the rental companies are a 1-2 minute drive. The Appalachacola Estuary Nature center is about 200 yards down from the house and the fishing pier is about the same distance in the other direction. We even walked to the pier along the beach. It’s about a 10 minute walk, if that. My only suggestion to the owners would be to not skimp on the daily items people use every day. I recommend getting:
-nicer pillows
-better bath towels
-more kitchen utensils/cooking items (mixing bowels, tongs, spatulas)
Several members of our group had trouble sleeping because of the bad pillows and lack of window blinds/shades. The natural light is great until wakes you up early on your vacation. The house also sways like your on a boat due to it being on stilts. We did not expect that and wouldn’t have minded it except that it made it difficult to recover from our dizziness/sea sicknesses after being on a boat for several days and then coming back to a house that is swaying like a boat.
That being said, I would totally recommend this place and would love to stay there again.

We regularly visit the Panhandle /Carabelle area of Florida. This time we decided to bring two dogs and the WHOLE family because my oldest son was proposing to his girlfriend. This was the best place and the trees and water made the perfect backdrop for pictures. Fishing was fun and the house was relaxing. I am completely on board with visiting here again. Close to many good places for seafood and more fishing.

Amazing Property & Privacy with a catch.
Overall everything was amazing. My guests and I really enjoyed the views and privacy and the home itself had everyone we invited looking to buy something similar nearby.
The only bad thing is I feel the listing is a little misleading. There is actually a small newer camper trailer off to the side a little ways off but still relatively close to the main house.
This is the owner’s personal camper and it was not in use during our stay. However, if it was in use I’d have rated my stay A LOT lower.
The greatest appeal of this listing is the sense of privacy you get in the photos and it was like an absolute gut punch when I saw the trailer that is no where in the photos.

This is a great secluded and quiet place close to everything nearby (Apalachicola and SGI). The fishing pier is a short walk and the property is adjacent to a protected estuary. The wildlife viewing (dolphins, osprey, blue heron, fish, etc.) was abundant and the sunrises (and a couple moonrises) were unforgettable.

High vibes
Perfect location. Short drive to St. George’s island state park, the national forest, apalachicola, and about an hour away from st. Joseph’s peninsula. We love hiking so this was great for us. Love the beach walk from the property too! Very cool fishing pier you can walk/bike on right by the house. Very clean. Kitchen well stocked. My partner is a chef so he’s kind of particular about knives so we brought our own knife and cutting board. The house had plenty of knives but the cutting board was not great so we are glad we brought our own. It was awesome having the vacay gear rental included. We got bikes and a kayak. The best biking is driving distance so it would have been nice to have a bike rack but thankfully the bikes fit in our rav 4. The house is facing east so has amazing sunrises! Super mellow vibes! I am definitely going to stay here again

We had a wonderful time at Cat Point Hideaway. We are a family of 6 with 2 dogs. It was a little challenging to find a rental that allowed dogs. The property grounds were ample with plenty of room for the dogs as well as games of croquet on the lawn. The beach was lovely for walks and again, great that dogs were welcome. It was almost like having a private beach. The house itself is very well appointed and the kitchen had everything needed for cooking Thanksgiving dinner and family dinners every night. Highly recommend staying here!

Fisherman’s Paradise
We loved this location! Super private, yet minutes from Apalachacola and St George Island for fun and food! House was beautiful and super clean. Nice estuary that was literally in our backyard. We saw bald eagles, otters and more on a daily basis. The week we arrived Red Tide also arrived to St George Island with a large fish kill, but a short 35 minute drive to St Joe and Mexico beach gave us our beach fix days! Local fishing pier was at the end of the driveway where we caught fish, sharks and sting rays. Only negatives with the house was the stairs. We traveled with my parents and all the steps became a challenge for them, so definitely keep that in mind if you have issues climbing stairs. Also we had 2 teens with us that wanted to go ride go karts and play putput golf, but nothing like that for 100 miles. If you want a private, beach to yourself place snag this up! We will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cat Point Hideaway. It was very private, quiet and extremely comfortable. The screened porch was where we spent most of our waking hours when at the house. Morning walks on the old bridge was a great way to start the day. A mile each way and something new to see each morning, including beautiful sunrises and a pair of nesting eagles were highlights. This was a well equipped and nicely laid out house. Forgotten Shores people were pleasant and responded quickly when contacted. Go to the end of the drive and turn left for a quick ride to lovely St. George Island and its white sand dog friendly beach.

The house has plenty of room, was clean and exactly as described on-line. We had 5 children with us 1 to 9. Thought it would be good for them to have a small beach on the bay. What you need to know is there are thousands of hermit crabs on the beach, especially at low tide, and the water is murky/muddy at times. You can not walk on the beach barefoot. You will get cut. Great place to stay but you are giving up the wide sandy beach and clear water with waves. If you are good with that, I recommend this house.
