About this house rental
Your eastern Tennessee home away from home is a beautiful two-story home with wall of windows overlooking beautiful Douglas Lake that will comfortably accommodate the entire group with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Also on the property for your enjoyment: a private dock, private boat ramp, tri-level deck, and plenty of outdoor spaces for the family to enjoy and make all new memories. The well-stocked double kitchen provides ample space for all your culinary endeavors. Dine indoors at the massive dining table or at one of the 18+ outdoor seats. The game room will delight the whole family and workspace will allow you to continue virtual work or school uninterrupted and all televisions in the home are smart TVs with Hulu live, Disney+, and ESPN. Or - even better - go outside to enjoy the lake, firepit, or disc golf. Hillbilly Hollow also provides kayaks and stand up paddleboards with paddles/oars (and standard life vests) for guests who seek to create their own adventures.
Stay in at your home-away-from-home or plan excursions to explore this stunningly beautiful area. Hillbilly Hollow is located in Sevierville, close to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and about an hour away from Knoxville and Neyland Stadium (Go Vols!).
This lovely two-story home is nestled in a quiet lakeside cove, surrounded by woods and water, creating a relaxing and serene environment. Grind your beans and enjoy your morning espresso on one of the three (yes, three!) decks while relishing the morning sights and sounds of Douglas Lake. Be sure to look toward the sky, as majestic bald eagles are often seen soaring in the area. Like us, they love Douglas Lake and we're sure you will also!
Large family? No problem, double-sized fully stocked kitchen and huge dining table inside or 18+ outdoor seats allows everybody to relax and enjoy meals together. On the main level deck, a three door commercial cooler ensures you will never run out of refrigerator space. (This feature is also the inspiration for the home's name, "Hillbilly Hollow"; because you can't be a hillbilly without a fridge on the porch.)
Stay up-to-date working from home or virtual learning in the quiet work-space with adjustable height desk. Game room with retro-style arcade table, shuffleboard, poker bar, and board games will provide hours of fun for the whole family. The master suite features an adjustable base king sized bed and the two person jetted tub or dual head shower with body jets is the perfect way to relax and unwind. Watch the day fade away through the picture window or step out onto the balcony to marvel at this slice of heaven, right here on earth.
Although no child will volunteer to sleep with so much fun stuff to do, the twin bedroom (on the main level) is fitted with blackout curtains to help create a relaxing atmosphere for children. Hillbilly Hollow offers for its tiniest guests a pack-n-play with mattress pad as well as a high chair. Save your limited luggage space and leave those at home!
Hillbilly Hollow’s private floating dock has five folding cleats, two jet-ski ports, kayak launch, and gangway that connect to the tri-level deck. You can get from house to boat and back again all day without stepping in water if that is your desire. The floating dock measures 12x24 ft, the decking is made of Ironwood (cooler on your feet in the hot sun). The dock starts to float when the water level at Douglas Lake reaches 986 ft above sea level (990 is considered “full-pool” and water levels typically stay in the low to mid-990’s in the summer season).
Bring your boats or jet skis and don't worry about looking for a public boat ramp to launch when the lake is full. Hillbilly Hollow sports a completely private 10 foot wide boat ramp that provides guests with no-hassle access to water for launching and loading watercraft and there is plenty of parking to unhitch your trailer out of the way during your stay.
Douglas Lake, also known as Douglas Reservoir, is a flood storage reservoir. It helps with the overall water control in the Tennessee Valley. To prepare for the winter, TVA lowers the water level to make room for the runoff from winter storms. In the summer when there is less risk of floods, TVA keeps lake levels higher to support recreation. Around late September, the water level at this property is reduced such that powered watercraft are unable to be taken in/out of the water on the boat ramp located on the property and the dock will be on the ground due to the reduced water levels. Kayaks and paddleboards are available so guests can access the beautiful lake year round at their discretion. When you go fishing at Douglas Lake, a fishing license is required (sorry, I didn't make the rules).
Although the water levels are lowered late September to late-April, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors and the lake. While the water is low, take a walk to the end of the point where the terrain looks otherworldly and unique. This is the ideal place to sit and watch the sunset; or you can find the best rocks to practice and perfect the art of skipping stones and pass this simple pleasure to the littles in your family.
Check-in/out process is completely contact-free and the property is accessed with a door code and digital alarm key fob.
Hillbilly Hollow allows pets (dogs only) with the following additional rules. The pet fee is a single fee per stay, not per dog, and Hillbilly Hollow provides the necessary items for fulfilling these requirements for up to two giant breed dogs. If you’re considering bringing furry family members, please read these rules prior to booking as these are the rules/expectations Hillbilly Hollow places for bookings that include pets:
There is a non-negotiable two house-trained pet maximum, no restriction regarding breed or size.
Pets will be supervised. When pets are in unfamiliar environments without their humans, they may become understandably anxious, leading to undesirable behavior. When the humans must leave their pets alone in the home, the pets will be secured in a crate, kennel, or similar container. Pets will not roam the home unsupervised. This applies to all pets, even if your pet is well-trained and not known to display stress behavior such as chewing, drooling, marking, scratching, digging, nervous bladder or bowels, or coat blowing. Hillbilly Hollow provides two crates for our canine guests. All bedrooms in the home are intended for our human guests. Pets will not be shut into bedrooms or bathrooms as a “pet bedroom”.
Pets are not to climb on, walk on, lay, sit, or sleep on furniture. Couches are furniture, dresser drawers and drawers under beds, and the benches that are built into the foot of the beds are furniture. Hillbilly Hollow provides two dog beds for pups to use while they are our guests.
Pet waste will be removed by the pet parent from wherever the pets place their waste on the property. Hillbilly Hollow provides pet waste stations on the property.
Pets will be dry(-ish) indoors. Some pets love to swim and Douglas Lake is a wonderful place for these water loving guests! Wet pets will be toweled off and reasonably dry before re-entering the home.

We were here for a family vacation and the house did not disappoint. It’s quietly tucked away in a cove with no neighbor noise. The house is absolutely stocked with anything you may need and has a ton of things to do! We would definitely stay again!
There are a couple quick call outs for other people looking to stay in the future. The listing does note that they lower the water levels in late Sept however we stayed late Aug and the water was already lowered and got even lower over the week. We had rented a boat and had to improvise “docking” it as the dock was out of the water. By the end of the week it was nearly beached as the water lowered over night.
The other thing is the stairs! There are a lot! You way want to get some work outs in prior! lol
Overall it’s a beautiful house in a beautiful area and we would stay again! Thank you to the hosts for sharing!

If you're looking for a secluded lake house stay, this is a good option. It's in a very peaceful cove and there are no neighbors in sight. You should know that when you turn off the main road, you drive about 15 minutes on a winding road with multiple 90 degree turns. There are at least a couple hills that you go over without being able to see where the road goes. It was stressful for some family members, and some people did get carsick.
We spent most of our time being touristy and with other family members in the area, so we didn't use the house for much other than sleeping, eating, and decompressing at the end of the day. It suited our purposes fine.
Be aware that if you plan to do "touristy" things in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, or the mountains, it's generally at least a half hour drive (although there is a grocery store closer). We spent a lot of time in the car, and it would have been a better place for us to stay if we were just there to enjoy the lake. Obviously, that's not the fault of the owners!

We had a great family trip to hillbilly hollow. The dock was a fun place for the kids to play and we really enjoyed our time there.

You have your own cove with lots if provided water toys. House is clean and beautiful. It was just perfect. Isolated from any other houses. The kids loved playing in the basically “private” cove.
Will stay there again.
Trash service is my only delta (not s negative, but something to think about)

Beautiful views!!!! Beautiful Lake! We had a bird that sang at night while we were on the deck. Amazing vacation!!!!

We had a great time at Hillbilly Hollow. The views were amazing. The house is cozy. You will have everything you need. They have provided sooo many things. We highly recommend staying here. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. You are still close enough to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg to go and do all the tourist stuff if you want or you can just stay at the house and kayak or bring your boat like us and fish all you want. Build a fire and make some smores. If you can’t find something you enjoy then you don’t enjoy anything. The hosts were great and communicated very well if we needed them to. You won’t be disappointed when you book this house.

Well appointed. Loved owners and very responsive. Master toilet had an issue flushing but easily fixed. Could not find the master bedroom remote to the tv. Enjoyed the herb garden and used all of them. Loved the fact that we had a well stocked pantry and spice rack which we utilized. Coffee bar stocked as well. As the guests beforehand we left water and a few refrigerator items. Very much enjoyed the decks and water equipment. The lake is geat and no heavy boat traffic.

Our family had a great time at Hillbilly Hollow. The cabin was beautiful, clean and was so well organized. The owners have put so much thought into all the amenities that are included. Cooking meals for 10 people was a breeze with the fully stocked kitchen. The cabin was close to Dollywood and lots of other things to do in Sieverville and Gatlinburg. We can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful house with beautiful views. Hosts were so kind and communicative, the house had everything needed and more. The kids loved the lake, thank you so much for having kayaks available for use! We hope to stay again.

Hillbilly Hollow was the perfect choice for our Fall break with friends and family. The house and property are gorgeous and exactly like what is described online. The beds were comfortable, the kids loved the game room, and the fire pit was loved by all. One of the best features was the kitchen. We were there for a week so we needed to make quite a few meals during our stay. The kitchen has everything needed…and I literally mean everything!! Not only the basic essentials but ice cream makers, blenders, coffee & espresso machines, crock pots, two dishwashers, two ovens, and the list goes on and on. The owners were so attentive and answered all my questions timely, and even had extra firewood delivered the next day after we ran out. I’m still full from all the s’mores we made. It was a wonderful vacation, and we would definitely love to stay here again.

The house and multi-tiered deck is beautiful! Plenty of space for a family of 7 to sprawl out, which we definitely needed after the long drive from Jersey!
The weather was stunning during our stay and even when it rained there was plenty of places around the house inside and out to enjoy the outdoors and still stay dry.
Amanda and Dale were very accomodating and quick to respond whenever we had a question or problem. We did have a little trouble getting in initially but the problem was resolved quickly (thankfully given there was a bathroom emergency!).
Some workmen did show up toward the end of our stay to do some work on the dock which limited our use of the kayaks, but to no fault of the owners. They had apparently been expecting them later in the week and though we probably still could have used the dock we didn't want to be in the way of their work.
There are too many things to do and see in the area (especially when you're only staying for a few days) and the house is so comfortable you don't want to leave it, but we did manage to at least get out to the exotic petting zoo and deer farm and had a great time!
Would definitely love to come back some day!

This place is more than we ever expected. Not one thing was missing that this home didn't have. This place is conveniently located to a lot of cities to day trip to. Chilling on the lake is relaxing. Stairs were a great workout. The only thing I recommend is bring throw blanket. You'll need one sitting in the lookout room. That was the best spot in the house. Only one tinsy downside was the dog slobber on the windows/doors and I cleaned out the tray in the vacuum which was overloaded with dog hair so I could vacuum the house. Maybe the cleaners missed it. Overall this place is fantastic to make lots of memories. We got here before Hurricane Idalia decided to make her debut in our home town. Nerve racking but was nice to be here while we watched. Definitely be back in the future if allows.

This house was exactly as advertised and we were very impressed with how thoughtful and thorough Amanda and Dale were when it came to the set up as well as instructions. We enjoyed spending time at the dock with the private cove, and even had a fun game night when it rained on a night during our stay. The house had plenty of room for our group of 10 and it was so well stocked! A lot of the things we bought at food city in town, the house already had and we just didn’t realize. We didn’t have any issues during our stay, but any time I reached out to Amanda and Dale they got right back to me within the hour. We would love to stay here again for our next trip to Douglas Lake!

The place was wonderful. This property is easily one of the most well stocked we've ever stayed at. They thought of everything and we so appreciated it. Will definitely recommend this place to our friends and come back ourselves in the future.

The house was really nice and spacious in a beautiful setting. There was every appliance you could think of to use, even an icemaker which was great because we use a lot. There was a Food City close on 411. Our family particularly loved having kayaks and paddle boards to use. If you have any type of disability with walking you won't make it upstairs or down to the dock but that only affected one of us and he powered through. Our owners were very attentive. Overall a great week and we would come again!

Loved this house!! House was beautiful and so clean! The hosts thought of so many nice amenities! The double kitchens were great for our large group because we did a lot of meal preparation. The lake access was so nice and private! And I liked that the cove provided a safe place for our younger kids to kayak and paddle board. We brought tubes that we could connect together and then attached to the dock, which was fun to just sit and float in.
The hosts were great about adjusting the temperature to our liking. My only complaint is about the trash. It was a big inconvenience to have to take our trash to the local trash dump. It was very inconvenient to have to take time to run trash to the dump when we were so busy trying to enjoy our trip. Just felt like an unnecessary inconvenience. We even saw a trash truck come around the neighborhood so we wondered if there is trash service to that area. Or we felt like it should be added or included in the cleaning fee because the dump is 20 minutes away and you have to make a separate trip because it’s impossible to put several big bags of trash in your vehicle with all your belongings. And we had a bag start to leak with our belongings but fortunately caught it before it leaked nasty stuff all over out stuff.
But otherwise it was the perfect lake house and the perfect vacation for our family!! Would love to stay here again!!

The property was just what we expected. Amanda and Dale welcomed us with a thoughtful gift basket on the kitchen table that included a pull rope for our dogs and candy for the kids. The house is huge so there was plenty of room for the kids to enjoy the all the games (mini arcade) provided and the adults could seek refuge for some cocktails on one of the many lounging areas on the decks, dock and porch. The kitchen is supremely stocked with seasonings, cooking/grilling utensils, 3 different types of coffee makers, and an ice cream maker to name a few. The lifesaver was the outdoor double door refrigerator on the side porch that kept all our drinks and bulk items cold and free from the kitchen fridge. The kids caught catfish, bass and crappie from the deck and had a blast on the several paddle boards provided. we rented a pontoon boat for 5 days and parked it right there at the dock. It was such a great vacation. Amanda and Dale have a treasure there.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we love it. There was 12 of us stay and it was plenty big for all of us. We loved being right on the water. There are paddle boards and kayaks, which was amazing. We highly recommend this property. It is beautiful and peaceful.

Our multi family one week stay was awesome! The hosts were great about communicating before and during our stay to make sure everything was perfect. The home is exactly as described and thoughtfully prepared with everything you might want or need. The lake is beautiful and was not crowded at all and the private cove is fantastic.
Our only problem was the sulfur smelling water. We messaged the hosts and they responded immediately and got someone out to service the water system the same day. It was greatly improved but the smell didn’t go away completely.
3.0
It's a great property and was well stocked for our visit. However, the foul smelling water coming from the taps, shower, toilets and washing machine was disgusting. It was like rotten eggs. Also, how can you ask guests to take garbage off-site to the municipal facility? That's wrong! We would not have rented this property had we known about these things.
5.0
We decided to take an extended vacation from the routine daily life, this property was available and we jumped on it. Working with the hosts was easy and they were accommodating on our last minute request to extend the stay 1 week from our initial booking. The location was out of the way which made it perfect. It was close enough for everything we wanted to do but remote enough for the privacy we craved.
Made some great memories of first kayaking for granddaughters to first mountain coaster rides. We even caught fish when we took time to do some fishing.
If you’re looking for a great place to get away and make some memories, look no further! We will definitely try and come back, although as popular as this house is, we will need to book early.

Property is just as advertised! We had an amazing stay! Our kids loved the cat and he was very friendly hanging out on the deck. Our family also loved the stores!

Our family enjoyed our stay at Hillbilly Hollow. The pictures online are accurate. Everything you need is at the house. From fully stocked kitchen, down to the shampoo.
The only thing we wished was that the water was higher so we could have enjoyed the kayak launch. Not the owner's fault, just fell short on predicting the TVA water chart. Would love to go back when the water is at full pool. Would definitely recommend staying here !

We had 4 adults and 8 kids for our stay! It was very accommodating for 12 people. Lots of places to sleep. The double kitchen was AMAZING to have with such a big group. 3 showers made cleaning up a breeze. The lake was beautiful! With the water levels being low the kids loved looking for fun rocks and shells. Amanda and Dale were great when it came to communication. Overall an amazing vacation spot! Definitely recommend!!

Hillbilly Hollow is hands down the best equipped home we have rented for a vacation. It has plenty of toys/entertaining games for kids of all ages, outside speakers for entertaining in a beautiful setting that by all accounts has its own natural symphony of bird sounds and requires no additional music to enjoy the outdoors. It is extremely peaceful, yet a short, scenic drive will take you to prime entertainment towns or Smoky Mountain National Park.

This is our second stay in two years at Hilbilly Hollow and we enjoyed it just as much as last year. My husband and I stayed with our 3 adult sons, one teenage son, and twin preteen sons and were all comfortable. We visited during a cold front, so we didn't do all of the outdoor activities that we had planned, but there was no shortage of activities in the area to keep everyone busy. Dale and Amanda were gracious hosts and very responsive during and before our stay. We will definitely stay again when we return to the area.

We stayed at this beautiful
Lake house for New Years week and it was the perfect getaway! Amanda and Dale were extremely gracious and available for all of our needs (especially for us Floridians dealing with snow lol). House is just as pictured, very clean and has everything you can think of. We are a family of 5 with 2 teen boys and a toddler and it met all of everyones needs. From the shuffle board table to the family board games and even giant connect 4 game that my toddler loved to play, we never had a dull moment. Views are absolutely breathtaking ! The only downside was the windy roads to get to town but Amanda and Dale gave us all the info ahead of time so read the welcome package and you’ll be just fine ! We did our homework and it paid off because we planned ahead! We definitely plan on returning to this beautiful house ❤️

The house is very nice, and the area/setting is pretty. But there were several drawbacks that we wish we had known. First, the lake level is lowered significantly after Labor Day to about Memorial Day -- so the pictures in the listing aren't accurate unless you're there in summer (do an internet search for pictures of Douglas Lake in Fall/Winter). Ended up being a cool hike down to the water, though. Second, the road up the "mountain" to the house is narrow, long (20 minutes to main road, 35 minutes to Sevierville), and VERY twisty/up-and-down -- most of us were fine, but one family member was anxious (even panicky) every time we went anywhere, and I wish we'd stayed closer to the main road/town. Third, the layout on the listing isn't clear -- there are two big (giant) bedrooms and 2 nice bathrooms on the upper floor (upstairs) and the two bedrooms and 1 bath/shower on the main floor are tiny; some of my family had problems with stairs, which meant they were stuck in the less desirable rooms and the murphy bed, which was NOT comfortable. Fourth, the house has well water, which smells strong and GROSS to those of us who are not used to it. It never improved the entire week even after trying to "flush" the faucets, so showers were not pleasant. Finally, it was awesome that there was a large cooler on the porch for our extra food/drinks for the week, but it malfunctioned mid-week overnight and froze, ruining $200-300 worth of beer, soda, and food we had just bought that day. The host didn't seem to care and wouldn't reimburse us for the loss when we asked. It was the day before Thanksgiving so I felt bad bothering them, but they could have been more responsive, or at least sympathetic to the loss. Also there were 2 or 3 stray/feral cats on the back porch the entire week. Luckily we didn't mind (the kids enjoyed them) but it was strange. Overall I've had much better VRBO stays, but if you know what you're getting into you would probably have a better experience.

The home was spacious with all kinds of “things to do.” The kitchen is a chef’s delight with lots of appliances, coffee bar, spices galore and great lighting. Sitting on the deck with a beverage of choice, is a must do. Hosts are A-one. Town is busy but everyone VERY friendly

Beautiful, spacious house overlooking Douglas Lake. So peaceful, lots of wildlife, and a ton of room for our family! The lake was still visible from the dock and a short walk down to the waterside. A short 20ish minute drive to Sevierville and Pigeon Forge but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of it all!
