About this cottage rental
This charming cottage has been completely renovated in 2020 and across the lake is our home and family of six, and a menagerie of ducks, hens, geese, guinea fowl, cattle and the local kangaroo’s, wallabies, kookaburras, cockatoos and the occasional rabbit. Only 10 minutes from the centre of Dubbo and 5 minutes’ drive from Taronga Western Plains Zoo and a perfect destination for that much needed “get away from it all” or home away from home. An unforgettable warm and friendly experience awaits you.
Our guests have their own privacy and space, and outside offers a verandah to sit and take in the beautiful sunsets, veggie garden to pick fresh produce from, a large fire pit for evening star gazing or in the cooler months a fire and toasted marshmallows. When the air is still, you can sometimes even hear the monkeys’ from the zoo.
Inside the cottage, there's a fully equipped kitchenette, lounge, bathroom, queen bedroom and a room full of amateur radio's collected over the past 25 years. The resident cat Violette or even Rory may come to say hello and Violette is such a gorgeous thing (perhaps favoured over Rory).
The lounge area has reverse cycle cooling and heating to cater for all four seasons. Please enjoy the WiFi, Google Home and Chrome casting for all your music and television desires plus Regional Lifestyle and Country Style magazines to inspire your very own country dream. You will find fresh seasonal flowers from the garden to welcome you upon arrival.
The kitchenette has a 2 burner gas cooktop with pots/pans and utensils and a small fridge. Local produce is provided for breakfasts including bacon, fresh on farm laid eggs from the girls and homemade jams for you to prepare and enjoy. There’s a microwave, tea and pod coffee facilities, and toaster with fresh bread and croissants. There is a selection of local wine and beer for afternoon delights available at an additional charge.
For the keen cooks, you can visit the local farmer's markets on the first and third Saturday of each month and pick up some local goodies to prepare a delicious meal. I have left a few of my favourite cookbooks for inspiration. Or for a simple evening meal, there’s always a BBQ on the little Weber. Last but not least, did I mention Geoffrey is a very good cook and if you would prefer room service this can be arranged in advance for an additional charge.
The queen bedroom has beautiful Sheridan linen, crisp white sheets, pillow-top for extra comfort, doonas, electric blankets for warmth in the cooler months, pillows to cater for all desires and reading lights. There are warm blankets to wrap around you for the cooler evenings on the lounge, verandah or out by the fire collected from travels including a yaks wool from India and mohair from Tasmania.
There are beautiful L’Octaine toiletries in the bathroom with fresh fluffy Sheridan towels. Additional touches for the girls include a hairdryer and curler.
The large fire pit is an ideal spot to sit and enjoy the evening stars, breath the fresh country air in the warmer months or sit and watch the fire in the winter months (subject to local fire restrictions). This area has been built with stone collected from the property.
Within in garden, you have access to the 15m lap pool, gymnasium with treadmills, weights and rowing machines.
Our location provides a convenient base to explore everything Dubbo has to offer and we look forward to hosting you.

So cute and such a relaxing place. The extras such as freshly baked bread, eggs from ‘the girls’ home made jams were such a personal touch. Beautifully decorated and just so peaceful.

Perfect getaway
I live in Dubbo but had an injury and wanted somewhere to relax and escape my house’s four walls. The location is superb, beautifully presented, well equipped and so romantic for a couple. On arrival there was music playing on the google assistant, bread baking, the heating turned on - such a welcoming sight. The decor was lovely and with the barbecue and kitchen area I was able to cater with ease. That is ideal because once you arrive you don’t want to leave! You just want to sit on the verandah by day and the fire pit at night that conveniently had loads of wood ready. The breakfast basket surpassed expectations, and catered for my allergies. I live ten minutes away but it felt like a world away. I will be back.

Cottage at Dubbo
Absolutely gorgeous cottage. As soon as opened door , the attention to detail was outstanding. The heating was on, and fresh bread baking was an extra bonus. The geese visiting added to the charming atmosphere. The breakfast hamper was very generous, with homemade jams, and fresh eggs. Outstanding accommodation which we would definitely recommend for couples. Thank you Susan.

Peaceful Country Getaway
If you're looking for a peaceful country getaway then look no further. My partner and I had such a fantastic time over the weekend at Yarrabar downs. The cottage - nestled on the lake with local geese and ducks to keep you company - is cosy and old-fashioned with modern trimmings, and is located only ~10 mins drive from Dubbo Zoo / Dubbo itself. You're also in great hands as Susan is an excellent host; the breakfast hamper with local produce was a lovely touch... The perfect spot to relax and unwind! Thanks so much for having us.

Delightful cottage
A delightful cottage overlooking the dam and beautiful homestead. The accommodation was spotless, tastefully decorated, well appointed and the bed so comfy. The deck overlooking the dam was a wonderful spot to relax and be greeted by the resident white geese. The breakfast hamper was extremely generous and delicious. We spoiled ourselves with Geoffrey's delivered evening meals .The food was amazing and highly recommended. Susan was a most friendly and attentive host. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to return.

Loved the location, enjoyed feeding the ducks. A real country feeling to it. Food that was supplied was plentiful and tasty.
Bathroom was lovely except for the shower not being enclosed. Would be happy to return

Amazing stay at Yarrabar Downs!
What a great B&B! This place is a real treat, with all the little touches down right. Susan was great to communicate with and had provided everything at the little cottage. The breaky hamper was amazing with local produce used and homemade goods. I would recommend to anyway looking to stay just out of town and also close to to the zoo. Thanks so much and look forward to staying at your property some time in the future :)
