About this house rental
Our Beach home is a very unique octagonal-style home with a lot of natural stone features. The home is a 5,500 sq ft spacious place to gather for large families, family reunions or group gatherings. It features a very large, open kitchen/dining/living room area, 5 bedrooms (sleeping 20 people!), 3 bathrooms, game room, pool table, deck and pool area!
The first floor has 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchenette/dining area, laundry area with full size washer and dryer, a game room with pool table and 2 smart TVs. The largest lower level bedroom features 3 twin over full bunk beds - enough sleeping space for 9! The top bunk beds are for children. The additional first floor bedroom features a queen bed - room for 2! The game room also has a sleeper sofa (room for 2) and 2 additional couches.
The second floor features a large open-concept Kitchen/Dining Room/Living Room area. with large, open windows for a scenic view. The main dining room table has seating for 8 and the kitchen island has seating for an additional 4 people. The living room area includes 3 couches and 2 chairs - so much space for socializing and entertaining! The second floor also includes 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom includes a king size bed (room for 2) and full-sized bathroom. In addition the master bedroom has a separate on-suite style bedroom with 2 twin beds (room for 2). The on-suite also includes an exterior door for direct access to the pool and deck area. The master bedroom also includes a conservatory (sunroom) that over looks the pool and deck area, has plenty of seating and a sleeper sofa (room for 2). The third bedroom features 2 queen-sized bed (room for 4) and a large walk-in closet.
The pool and deck area feature a large in ground pool with a maximum depth of 5 feet. The pool entrance includes a seating area inside the pool for cool relaxation during those hot summer months! The deck includes a long bench/seating area. The pool is not heated.
NOTE: We do have a security camera that overlooks the pool/deck area.
The poolside gazebo has also been updated to include a brand new bar and sitting area- great for getting out of the summer sun.
The Atlantic ocean is 300 yards walking distance from the home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool was great! Pool table and ping pong kept everyone busy when weather was bad.

We took another couple and 9 graduating seniors on a trip for surfing and skim boarding. I was looking for a space with enough entertainment for rainy days too. This property was perfect the kids were downstairs and adults upstairs. The beach was a short walk and the pool was great to cool off when we got back. We did move some furniture around to accommodate our group and shifted the bedroom television to the living room to watch the Olympic trials. We contacted the property manager for a tiny issue and were responded to almost immediately. The neighborhood was quiet and the beach was not crowded. We had surf lessons, rented jet skis and brought our skim boards with us.

This was our family’s 3rd year in this home & we enjoy it every time! We love the pool area & the house is large enough that we can enjoy private time & family time.

Had another wonderful week at the Octagonal home in Emerald Isle. New downstairs lighting was great! It’s only a short walk to the beach for the grandkids, aged 1-6, and wagons worked great. The outside shower to de-sand everyone is wonderful. Kids loved the pool as well.

We loved this house! There were 14 adults, it was spacious, everyone loved the pool, easy walk to the beach (my 84 year old Aunt, made the walk easily), it was also close to grocery and souvenir shops. I highly recommend this house for your family gatherings!

My family of 11 really enjoyed this house. The pool is such a nice feature. The house is a bit dated but has incredible space! Bedrooms are huge and it has so much seating. Only 1 flight of steps which is also nice. We appreciated the 2 refrigerators and library of great books as well. Located on a quiet street and easy walk to the beach. You won’t be short on space or beds in this house!! We would definitely stay again.

Other than the sandy floors upon arrival, the house was nice. The neighbors have an outdoor cat enclosure, and luckily for us, the cats were never out when we took our dogs out, but it would have been nice to know this ahead of time. Others with dogs who are not cat friendly should know this. Overall, our stay was nice and enjoyable! The house was plenty big for our group!

We six grandkids, aged 5,4,3,2,2,and 6 months, had a blast in the big many-sided house! So much room to run around and play when we weren't at the beach.
Our grandparents loved the new updated king bed, dressers, and night stands in their room. Grandma said the outside shower with hot and cold water for rinsing off the sand was fantastic! We wished the weather was warmer so we could have used the pool more because we had a ball in it last year. Our parents were fine with the1 block walk pulling wagons to the beach with the board walk to the beach aligned directly to the road (Bluewater) we walked down. We hope they bring us back next year!

We absolutely loved this home. It was clean, spacious, beautiful. Comfy beds, near the beach, lovely pool area. Our big family fit perfectly in this home. We will love to book again for next year. Loved that it was pet friendly because we got to peing our two dogs.

House was not clean, roaches dead thank goodness, not equipped for someone that wants to cook !! I had to buy cooking Utensils from the dollar store and left them for next guest!! Shower curtain had mold on it! And down stairs queen bed room ceiling looks awful gross !!

I was very disappointed, I walked in to the property seeing water bugs crawling around, spider webs soiled spots, and a mildew odor in the basement.

We had a great time at our wedding weekend staying at this VRBO! There was so much space and the layout was perfect for a large group. Only thing I would say is watch out for bugs, but it is in the woods so it makes sense.

Overall the house was nice and worked well for our family. The pool was fun and clean and the location was very nice for beach fun. The kitchen needs some help but I blame this mostly on renters not the owners. People leave stuff there (food and half used things) that does nothing but attract insects and leaves no space at all for new renters to put their groceries. There is no pantry or empty cabinet to be found. Utensils need upgrading and pot holders or oven mitts need to be purchased. I also wish there was an outside shower as it was very hard to keep sand out of the house. We had a good time and in the end that was really the goal.

A Great Emerald Stay!
My family and I really loved this house and our stay for the week there. It had everything we were looking for: beach access, a pool, a ping pong table, and a pool table. It even had a children's room attached to the master which was perfect for my family! Everything was also clean and sealed when we arrived, so we felt super comfortable there during our stay. We really had a lot of fun with all of the amenities, and we will definitely be keeping this house in mind for future family vacations!

The home is very spacious and was clean when we arrived.
I might suggest, however, that you hire a new pest control company.
Also, the kitchen, in a house so large, could use some additional cups and a larger toaster, to mention a couple of things.

Great beach property!
My friends and I enjoyed staying here. It was in a quiet neighborhood, but also a short walk to the beach. The house layout was unique and fun, and able to fit everyone comfortably. The pool area was a highlight, but my friends and I also enjoyed the pool table and ping pong set. I highly recommend this house.

Wonderful Family Celebration
Having a family gathering to include very young children the open, spacious floor plan upstairs and downstairs (once the step into the dining area was ingrained into maneuvering) was extremely to our liking. Everyone was able to find their own space, if needed, at any time. The large bedrooms with walk-in closets were very helpful in deciding where the pack-n-play sleepers could be set up for the toddlers. There was plentiful hot water for all the showers. The large capacity washer and dryer were wonderful and well used. The 4th bedroom could possibly use another nightstand for a bedside light as the ceiling lights above the bed were not working. We did find an oscillating fan we moved into the room when temperatures got a little warmer. We would definitely highly promote this house to any multi-family gatherings. Perfect 5 minute walk to beach and pool too!

Perfect for a group of golfers
My group of golf buddies found this location for our annual golf trip. The layout of the house was perfect for 12 golfers to reconnect. The pool area is amazing. I would recommend this property and owner.

House was very roomy. Plenty of room to spread out. Kitchen and living area is great size. Pool was also very nice. We had a great time.

Had a good time despite some issues
Overall we had a good time, the location is good and the big stuff worked. We did have some issues with cleanliness. We found roaches as soon as we entered, some of the towels smelled horribly of smoke, we had to rewash most of the dishes/silverware we used due to a weird film. There's also a bunch of little stuff that drove us nuts. Hooks broken in most bathrooms so hanging up things to dry was annoying, the ice maker didn't work, stove was among the most inconsistent I've ever used (even in a crappy apartment), and one of the downstairs mattresses was pretty bad. There were also no mats by the doors so it was hard not to track in sand, and an outdoor shower would be a good thing to add since the hose is not convenient to access.
As I said in the beginning, the location is pretty great and we still had a lot of fun during our stay. We just had the feeling of penny pinching the whole weekend that dampened our enjoyment to some degree. There's a lot of things that could be fixed with minimal cost to improve the experience for guests.

Great, if quirky, property.
A fun property in a good location on the island. It’s a huge house, which was originally built in the mid-80s (we were curious so we looked it up) by someone who clearly loved brass in his bathrooms and mirrors in his bedroom. Yep, seriously.
The pool is fantastic, really top notch, and located in such a way that bugs just didn’t land and clutter the pool every evening—which has been been our experience in literally every other outdoor pool we’ve seen. It must be magic.
Lots of space for families to spread out and never see each other for a week except, possibly, for dinner. There are games, game tables, TVs in every room (except, oddly, the main living space, which was fine because we didn’t want to watch TV, but should be noted), a nice well stocked kitchen, and lots and lots of comfortable seating. Probably seating for 100 in the house. It’s like a furniture store. Yes, I’m exaggerating, but there are lots of couches. Just sayin’ someone must have been having a sale.
One thing we felt needed to be pointed out to potential renters (and this is a first for me writing this warning in a short-term rental review): beware of tripping hazards throughout the main floor. Literally every single one of us tripped at least once on one of the slightly unpredictable 4” step-ups in the house. I only mention this because we had originally planned for a larger family group including our 80-year-old parents, who decided not to travel because of COVID. That could have ended our vacation abruptly if one of our beloved parents bit the dirt on the kitchen floor.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and wish the new owners lots of success with the property!
P.S. Even our dog tripped.

Great place for a family vacation/reunion
The owner Jason was amazing and I really cannot thank him enough. It was great for my family in town for a wedding at the Islander Hotel. Very spacious, quiet, so many amenities- I look forward to seeing what else they are planning to do with this place. Pool was great with lots of sunshine and the lights over the pool were perfect. The property manager Drew went above and beyond to give us a hand after hours- two beach accesses very close and privacy surrounding us when we were at the house. Great for large families with and without young children!
