The 4,100+ square foot retreat was designed with comfort, community, and play in mind. Six primary suites (each with private bath) - sleeps 15, 10' ceilings throughout, and large rooms open to 2,100+ square feet of decks, giving you a feeling of spaciousness throughout. There's something for everyone with the great room, featuring dramatic 20' cathedral ceilings, family room, den, game room, two-car garage, large un-heated pool, and deluxe seven-person hot tub. The elevator makes this an ideal retreat for families with older members and small children, as well as handicap features. WHISPERING SANDS is equipped with high-speed internet access, but we recommend doing your surfing on the waves!
On the ground floor, play pool (8' table), foosball, cards, or over two dozen board games in the large game room while enjoying the kitchenette wet bar amenities (microwave, full fridge with ice maker). Sliding glass door access to pool, hot tub and grilling area. Lounge in the adjoining den (CTV, DVD, and stereo). The primary suite features two pyramid bunks (full and twin beds) and a private bath (with HC roll-in shower). A two-car garage (auto opener, locked storage) with concrete drive provides an easy-to-access and use all-weather entry to the elevator and house. On the first floor, relax in four primary suites (each with a private bath, one handicap accessible) symmetrically arranged around the family room, wet bar (fridge, coffee station, table), and laundry (washer/dryer). Lounge in the family room on a large comfy sectional with a book or movie (CTV/DVD/home theater) from the 100+ video collection, 100 + book library, music (surround sound stereo), dozens of board games, dozens of puzzles, or access the deck with ocean and pool views.
When you reach the second floor, savor your time in the 38' wide great room featuring dramatic cathedral ceilings (20') and memorable 180-degree panoramic ocean and Pamlico Sound views. Enjoy music (surround sound stereo), catch a movie (CTV/DVD/home theater), or watch the breakers. The dining area is perfect for socializing and gatherings with seating for everyone, a breakfast bar and a wet bar. Cooks will enjoy the spacious and well-equipped kitchen (21' x 11') with a pub table, pantry, oversized fridge, two dishwashers, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and lighthouse views! There is also a deluxe primary suite (with private bath), powder room (1/2 bath), and office space (wireless high-speed Internet, fax, desk, chair, and answering machine). Enjoy a picnic, lounge, or sun on oversize decks with ocean, sound, lighthouse, sunrise, and sunset views.
Outside, you'll find a 16' x 32' pool, deluxe seven-person hydrotherapy hot tub, 1/2 bath, two showers, gas grill, picnic table, pool lounge chairs, storage (lockable), and lighted fish cleaning station. Overall our stay was good!

We loved the space we had and the convenience to the beach

The house was beautiful, and the elevator made it convenient to take groceries up to the kitchen. The layout of the house is nice as well. We enjoyed our stay here. We did have some issues like the refrigerators were pretty dirty, the kitchen faucet leaked really bad, and the washing machine was broken. Also the front doors didn’t latch from being weathered over time causing them to blow open in the middle of the night during storms.

We loved the pool size and hot tub located next to the pool. Overall, the location and house were fine to stay in but the house needs some general maintenance. The dryer is not functioning properly, a lot of railings are loose and unsafe. The kitchen sink faucet functioned oddly.
The house is older now and pictures need updated.

The house was great in size and open concept

It's got a great location. Surface clean. Bring your own towels as they do not provide any extra. Also no kitchen towels or wash cloths are provided. most windows and none of the 2nd floor sliding doors have screens. The dinning area does not have any curtains or blinds. Very blinding during the morning and you feel as if your on display at night. Fireplace does not work. Hot tub and pool are fantastic! Outdoor grill is a Weber, very nice. And there is outdoor showers and bathroom. About 10 houses away from being on the beach. Walking distance to a few small stores. And the grocery store is only a 5 min. Drive.

Fine
House was great for a larger group and was good for groups of kids. Easy walk to the beach. Area around house is not awesome.

The location of this house was perfect. Very close to the beach as well as grocery/restaurants.
The property is a little run down. It doesn't look like the photos, however it was clean.
The third level balcony was not safe. Very wobbly railing and we found loose spindles. With little kids, this was a bit concerning, so we did not use any of the deck spaces.
That being said, we did report this and maintenance was sent out right away. I do feel, however, the deck needs more work to be completely safe.
The house is spacious and the kitchen is HUGE, which was a big plus for us since we cooked most of our meals in. The pool was a must-have for the kids.
Overall we had a great time. I would consider coming back here but only after ample work has been completed, for safety reasons.

Misrepresented amenities
The fireplace didn’t work and neither did the hot tub, management company sent good people for the fireplace but couldn’t fix, sent no know for hot tub, epic failure...I would not rent this house again and don’t recommend you rent it either

This was a great place for our family of 17.
This home was perfect for a family getaway vacation. We had little ones ranging from under 1 to 12 years old. It was enough space for all the kids to play and run around and an easy walk to the beach.
The only drawback was we did not feel the house was thoroughly cleaned. This home needs a deep cleaning. There was leftover food on the windowsill, and a cleaning tag in the freezer. When we went to clean the house before we left, some of the sweepers did not have bags. The one that did was jampacked full and my husband had to empty it as there were no extra bags. Overall our family had a wonderful time in this house though.

Don't forget the pool
Wonderful location, perfect house with all the amenities, price and product evenly matched, home showing signs of wear. Big house for a big family. Would rent again.

Perfect!!
The house was perfect!! My family and extended family had plenty of space to spend time together and also to have separation when needed. The kitchen was well stocked with two coffee pots, plenty of pots, pans and serving dishes also. The property and pool area were very clean. The distance to the beach was walkable with stuff and toddlers.
