I stayed for ten days whilst helping my mother move into a care home, and subsequently clearing her flat which were both stressful experiences. Staying at Red Squirrel Cottage in the evenings was the best ever place to wind down and relax.
The location is ideal for connections to motorways and easy access to both Liverpool and northwards to Preston. The cottage is peaceful, even though it's on a main road – no noise once inside, and no noise at all from the other cottages. Watching the sunset over the field in the evenings was one of my great pleasures.
The cottage was sparkling clean and well maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable and had nice bedding – I had the best nights' sleeps for a long time! The shower was hot, the bathroom spacious, and the full kitchen, including an oven, was a real bonus.
I had to do some online work in the evenings: the internet connection was excellent and, for a rural area, reasonably fast. The TV is large and has all Freeview channels.
Lin and Stan are kind, friendly people whose communication is excellent. Stan even called round to introduce himself and make sure I was OK, as I was staying on my own and I'd arrived when he wasn't around.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended – and thank you, Lin and Stan, for such a pleasant stay.

Great discovery. Great location with good pubs for food all around and only 30mts from family.

Relaxing atmosphere to sit and read a good book. Lovely walk along canal close at hand. Ideal location and accommodation to get away from it all.

Short break for Liverpool visit.

Stayed at Cross Farm Cottages for 2 nights. Originally booked for 2 adults, but 2 more adults (son and daughter in law) also stayed. Whilst the cottage was a little small for all 4 of us, we managed very well, and the sofa bed was fine for a couple of nights. The owners were very friendly and provided good information on arrival. Parking was good (we had 2 cars between us). The whole cottage was clean and uncluttered. The kitchen area was well maintained with sufficient utensils. Nice patio/lawn

Stayed for approximately 6 days while visiting family and friends. Lovely views over the countryside. Relaxing and peaceful - except for the rain!

This place is fantastic. Lynn and Stan are wonderful hosts. I wish I could have given them a 10 out of 5. So kind, so helpful. They couldn't do enough for you.
The room was great. Full kitchen, little sitting and dining room with a separate bedroom. A nice big deck to enjoy the sunshine. If you r staying in Liverpool or Southport & you want a set up that is a little quieter. This is the place is magic.

we came for a short break, this turned out to be an ideal location with plenty to do and see within a short distance.

We stayed 2 nights. The cottage was very, clean, comfortable and modern. Stan and Linda were incredibly friendly and helpful. Stan even got a bike out for my 8 year old to play with. It was a perfect location for Southport and great value for money. I would highly recommend a stay here.

We were made most welcome when we arrived at Cross Farm and shown around the apartment. It was spotlessly clean, well-maintained and equipped. It was very cold during our stay but Red Squirrel apartment stayed warm as toast. The location is pretty good too. A main but not noisy road runs past the gate, Ormskirk is a couple of miles away and the coastal resort of Southport around 8 miles away. Cross farm is quiet with unspoilt views of the countryside and very affordable.
