About this bed and breakfast
Our Riverside rooms are something a bit special. We have three Riverside rooms that are this size and another even larger one. All of our Riverside Rooms are side by side, so If you are a large group of friends or family they are ideal as a group base as you can congregate by the riverside together and not be disturbed.
These triple rooms each have one double bed and one single bed and so, are extremely adaptable. Please note that triple occupancy will require two of the three guests to share a double bed.
For two people these rooms will always be made up as a double only unless specified on booking that you need a twin set up.
Dimable lighting, ceiling fans, low level touch lighting and contrasting sockets/switches. Flat screen Smart TV's with capability to log into your own Streaming accounts. Silent running fridge. They are unique in their adaptability for anyone requiring a bit more space such as wheelchair users and families, suitable for all tastes. Complementary beverage facilities and premium toiletries are provided.
All Riverside rooms have large shower wet rooms with power shower, standard and roll under, low level wash basin. WC. Stacks of turning space if required. If you are a wheelchair user, we have a choice of roll in shower chair or static wall hanging shower chair that we can pop in there for your use. No charge. Sensory mirrors add to the high quality of these rooms - just swish your hand by the side of the mirror and bingo - all becomes clear!
Patio doors open out towards the river where you can relax at your table and chairs and reflect on the day. Looking out over the river and meadow, feed the fish or watch the wildlife - you may see the otter, woodpecker, kingfisher or owls that pass by. This side of the building allows complete level access into the dining room.
In a Riverside room you have your own front door so if you are having a fabulous evening out and arrive back a little late you will not disturb anyone else on your return.
Our seasonal licensed Tea Room serves delicious home-baked goodies and beverages. We also offer our BBQ Hut for private hire in the evenings, which would be a memorable experience for guests staying at Double-Gate Farm.
The farmhouse's ground floor areas are wheelchair accessible, and the Master en-suite is on the first floor. Our Riverside Rooms are all located on the ground floor, extra large, and have a patio facing south over the river, ceiling fans, refrigeration, and super big wet rooms. They are ideal for couples, families, and groups with flexible and spacious options.
We have additional cottage-style en-suite rooms located in Swallow Barn, including cosy doubles and an accessible ground-floor twin. Although Swallow Barn is no longer inspected by Visit England Assessment Services for B&B purposes, our other B&B accommodations remain in the scheme. It is still inspected by the AA for B&B and Self-Catering purposes to ensure that it remains at a high standard.
If you plan to holiday with your dog, kindly call us before booking to confirm the availability of our two dog-friendly rooms. We do not allow pets in rooms that are not designated as pet-friendly.

Double Gate Farm is a shining example of what superior B&B accomodation can be. Just four miles from Glastonbury and the many wonders of Somerset and the South West. Our host Debbie and her family and friends, were the most authentic, caring and supportive staff we could have hoped for, there was nothing they wouldn't do for us. The highest praise I can give to Debbie and Double Gate Farm is that I miss them already. Going back in the future would feel like going home. Thanks and see you soon.

The room (7) had everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean and as a full time wheelchair user it was roomy , comfortable and accesable. The staff were always on hand and extremely friendly. Breakfast was 1st class with loads of choice. Would certainly stay here again.

As a disabled person with my wife as my carer, we would have difficulty finding any faults whatsoever. We stayed in riverside room No 5 which is a pet free room and was ideal for us.
Owners Debbie and Steve were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Waking up in the morning and pulling back the blinds to see the river Sheppey flowing past, literally at the end of the balcony, was a delight.

In order to make the most of an RSPB event at Ham Wall we decided to stay local. The room was clean and spacious and we were welcomed with a smile. There is a good quirky pub next door for a drink/dinner.

The accommodation was spotless. The accessible room was a good size and the shower was excellent.
Debbie was welcoming and helpful and her father was full of character (in a good way).
We have booked in for afternoon tea, so will look forward to that and I dare say another stay in the future.
All in all we could not fault anything.

I took a friend with me who had not been before, whereas this is my third visit. I love the place so much and will be back again before too long. This is the sort of place I would be happy to go to and stay on my own. Friend was very impressed and said it had come up to the standard I had told him.
This was just a short quiet getaway for a couple of nights in a wonderful quiet place.
Also a big thank you to Debbie's father our Chef for the lovely cooked breakfast each morning.

The accommodation was , spotlessly clean and of a high standard. The views from the bedroom were spectacular in the winter light. We chose Riverside 5 as it had a large wet room and easy access . We were made to feel most welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared fruit salad, full English for my husband and pancakes for me, such a treat. We have stayed here twice this year and have already booked for next.

We had a perfect stay. The room was well equipped, hair dryer, ground coffee, very nice toiletries. Importantly the mattress was comfortable. These little details make a stay special. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and all cooked to order. We enjoyed the sitting area outside our Riverview room, a lovely place to sit and watch the very quiet, natural world go by. Attentive and friendly but not intrusive host. We would definitely recommend.

We decided to have a short break so we could see the Starling murmeration,go cycling and also visit Glastonbury. I found Double Gate by chance and having looked at the website and seen its great location, amazing looking riverside rooms, tea shop and views I thought it was too good to be true - I was wrong it was everything we were hoping for and more. I don't usually rate somewhere 5 stars across the board but there really is nothing to fault about Double Gate.

We have stayed at Double Gate Farm on several previous accommodation. It has always been thoroughly enjoyable and this time was equally so. We initially booked four nights but extended to five. The location in the Somerset Levels is very peaceful and calming, although the accommodation is only a short distance from Wells and Glastonbury; and Bath and the coast are easy accessible options too.
