About this cottage rental
Approached along a tree-lined driveway filled with wildflowers every Spring, West Mead Cottage simply oozes country charm while combining modern luxuries with extreme practicality. It is the perfect pied-a-terre for walkers, cyclists and dog owners as well as visitors seeking nothing more than a blissfully peaceful break.
Morning sunshine floods through the windows of the cottage’s open plan living room where there’s a large comfy leather sofa, flat screen TV (with full Sky package), fully fitted kitchen with eating area, and french doors leading to a seating area with views across fields. The bedroom has a king size bed (plus room for a travel cot), an en-suite with a large double walk-in shower, and a large fitted walk-in wardrobe. Everywhere is heated by efficient easy-to-operate electric radiators, plus an electric flame-effect log stove which creates a cosy glow to sit by in the evening.
Outside there is a private cobbled courtyard with a decked area hosting a gas barbecue, rattan sofa and drinks table, four-seater table with parasol, and a luxury touch spa hot tub which has ergonomic loungers for deliciously deep immersion. This courtyard is entirely private and secure.
Everything at West Mead is user-friendly... The kitchen has a fridge freezer, oven, microwave, slow cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Next to the cottage there is masses of private off road parking which easily accommodates bike or canoe trailers as well as vehicles. There is also secure storage for bikes or buggy and a tradition pulley airer to cope with the wettest walking gear.
Thoughtful extras abound, from a welcome plate of freshly made cakes, plentiful packets of hi energy snacks for active days out, stacks of board games, free wifi (the area also enjoys excellent 4G) and the coffee machine with a full selection of coffee pods. Luxury robes and slippers, kept warm by the bathroom’s heated towel rail.

It is countryside around you, peaceful and away from it all. We felt very relaxed.

Our 1st impression of the cottage, it was in a nice quiet location with electric gates to the drive. However on entering the courtyard to the cottage we were met by rattan furniture covered in silver gaffa tape as it was obviously damaged in some way, so not great!. On entering the cottage it was very well laid out and also very well equipped, with everything someone would need for a weekend or a whole week. There was a lovely Kithen / Living room with plenty of space and also a full Sky package. The bedroom was average but lovely, with an on-suite bathroom which was also very tastefully decorated. Out side in the private courtyard was a fantastic hottub which was heated to perfection and was also very clean. Sadly we do have a few negatives for the cottage, the cottage was dusty in the living / Kitchen are with a few cobwebs around. The fridge could do with replacing as it was not very cold, with water on the shelves, the freezer had one drawer front missing and another taped up with silver gaffa tape, which is not something you want to see. And lastly the hottub maintenance every morning between 7-8am was not really necessary as the hottub is directly outside the bedroom window, and we were disturbed by this every morning. We would definitely return to Westmead cottage but things do need addressing.

A lovely getaway
Was a very lovely and private experience for our getaway.
There are shops just 8-9 min away, if you need supplies, but you still feel far away from everything. The manager was very communicative and answered all our questions. All the rules & procedures were clearly made out.
The jacuzzi was fantastic and ready to go. Even in somewhat cold weather, I'd highly recommend it.
The heating is very good and insulation is top notch if you're worried about the cold.
The place itself was spotless and has all the amenities you need for a weekend. Whether you want to eat in or go out, it's a great spot.
The only issues was the WiFi was a tad spotty and would cut out. The bathroom door didn't close properly, so it truly was a shared experience.
Overall, we really enjoyed it and it was exactly as advertised.

Couldn’t have asked for more!
Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday and couldn’t have been more pleased!
The owners were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you and were very helpful and informative when contacted with enquires.
The lodge itself features everything you could ask for, we were going to go out for a meal however we didn’t want to leave and decided to stay in instead as there is everything you could need for a relaxing night in! However there was also a welcome pack provided full of suggestions for activities near by if you did want to venture out.
Overall we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be returning!

Secluded getaway
Hidden gem, peace and quiet in a beautiful cottage with a hot tub, private courtyard ,private parking and a tv we hardly used, views across open fields, Heswall is only five minutes drive for supplies, Thornton Hough a five minute walk. Catch the train from Spital to Liverpool or Chester for a busy day and return to the cottage to relax in the hot tub and sleep in a large comfy bed ready for another day of relaxing.zzzzzz
