About this house rental
Welcome to Kokomo! In the most sought-after area of Hutchinson Island!!! This 3 bedroom, 2 full bath beach house is 2 blocks from the beach, one street from the inlet, and the legendary Ft. Pierce Jetty. Also, within one block are the hippest beach bars, restaurants, and hangouts in Florida. Eclectic downtown Fort Pierce is just across the bridge, which also hosts the Farmers Market and art/food festival every Saturday from 8 noon.
This is a TRUE beach house, not a duplex, manufactured home, or condo that others advertise as “the whole place.” Enjoy this adorable beach home and its LARGE covered “hang out” deck, and its secluded back yard surrounded by a 6 foot high privacy fence with tropical plants and flowers where you can throw darts, or play "corn hole" in the yard.
Spend the day at the beach, or at the jetty fishing for the big one. Watch the sunset from the swinging benches on the inlet, and then watch the NASA/SpaceX rocket launches from the Jetty at sundown or dance the night away to a reggae band at one of the nearby restaurants. During evening walks on this barrier island, you may encounter VERY large sea turtles laying eggs on the beach at night in their annual migration. Also, the beach side of the jetty is full of manatees throughout the year.
The home features very comfortable Broyhill couches to relax by the indoor electric fireplace or to enjoy movie night with the family on the 55-inch HD TV. There is also a 45-inch HD TV in the master bedroom.
For home entertainment, the home features free high-speed internet with WiFi and the HD TV's offer streaming movies, streaming channels, and 600 satellite channels. Please note: not every channel is on the system, but you are in Florida. There is also a dart board, a corn hole game, and several board games such as Jenga, Monopoly, dominos, traditional playing cards, Uno, and beach toys.
The bedrooms feature gel memory foam mattresses for a good night sleep. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is also a dedicated workspace desk just off the kitchen. The home has ample parking for two vehicles. There are several restaurants, bars, and gift shops along the causeway and over the bridge into Historic downtown Ft. Pierce. You can also go dolphin watching, rent jet skis, kayaks, bikes, boats, or take a deep-sea fishing trip. There are also several amazing wreck dives for scuba divers and lobster hunters. And YES, eleven ACTUAL treasure ships sank less than 100 yards from the beach, and over 4 million in gold and treasure have been recovered. That is why the area is called the Treasure Coast. The area is well known as a surfing destination (on the north side of the jetty) and a kite surfing mecca (on the south side of the jetty). You can also go horseback riding on the beach or practice your Viking skills at the Hard Axe Lounge, where you can learn to throw axes at indoor targets. There is TRULY something for everyone.
There is a digital lock, and the code is changed every time a guest departs. The new door code is sent to the new guest on the day of arrival prior to check-in. The home is also equipped with a Ring doorbell.
Disclosures and legal stuff:

Message to code enforcement: Please CONFIRM the home is being rented FIRST with the owners, as this home is also used privately by the owners, their friends, and family. In such cases, the vacation rental ordinance 21-019 does not apply.
House rules for guests: Florida Statute 509.141 - No pets, smoking, drugs, excessive drinking, loud parties, fights, property damage, illegal activity, or disturbing the peace. Maximum occupancy and maximum number of vehicles are enforced by the City of Ft. Pierce. A violation of these rules will prompt immediate removal from the property & only remaining nights will be refundable within state laws, and VRBO refund/deposit policies will apply.
Swim disclosure: The beach is just down the street. Swim at your own risk. This home is not for infants and non-swimmers as there is no lifeguard on duty at the beach. In addition to the beach by the house, there is also an inlet and a jetty. Do NOT attempt to swim in the inlet except at South Causeway Park, which has a fantastic beach for small children with no waves or when there is excessive seaweed on the ocean side of the beach.
Crime free disclosure: Due to the proximity of the property to a park/child congregating area, registered sex offenders are not permitted to occupy the residence. (FL 948.30.b). This home is not available for ANY illegal activity or criminal occupants.
Wildlife and environmental disclosure: Florida beaches have sea turtles as visitors. DO NOT attempt to touch them, come close to them, or interfere with them during any part of the egg laying process. Also, DO NOT touch their eggs. Both are federal and state offenses and are subject to arrest. Observe them from at least a 10 foot distance and DO NOT run, make noise, or aim lights at them while they are laying eggs or coming on the beach.
Do NOT touch the small purple/blue balloon looking sea creatures on the beach if you see one. They are a type of jellyfish, and they sting badly if touched.
Florida has seasons for various types of fish and other sea animals that can be eaten (i.e., crabs, and lobsters). DO NOT take a fish/sea creature out of season. There are severe penalties for this, including arrest in some cases. Download a fish ID app for Florida to identify your catch and make sure it is in season. A fishing license may be required. There are also plenty of local fishing charters.
Manatees and dolphins live in the intercoastal and often visit the beach. If you see one, DO NOT attempt to grab or ride one. If you rent a boat or jet ski DRIVE SUPER SLOW through the areas that have signs that say "Manatee Area" and "No Wake Zone." These are state and federal offenses and carry heavy penalties. Both the Coast Guard, the Sherriff, and the Florida Wildlife Management (FWC) patrol our waters.
Animal/Pet disclosure: This home is in compliance with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the National Institute of Health, and the Center for Disease Control as a dander and endotoxin free home for those with asthma, severe allergies, other similar ailments, and travelling medical/surgical staff at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Therefore, it is exempt from service/comfort animals and can not accommodate pets or smokers because it is outside of the scope of reasonable accommodation. Regarding requests for accommodation of animals: Accommodations after occupancy of animals/ smokers would require a permanently installed high grade HEPA filter, replacement of the full HVAC system, replacement of all duct work, a full carpet replacement, and a full repaint of the residence interior, and a full replacement of the mattresses and soft furniture to remain offered as a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences/NHI/CDC compliant home. Therefore, granting animal requests would impose an undue financial and administrative burden on the housing provider. The request would fundamentally alter the essential nature of the housing provider's operations. The assistance animal would pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others despite any other reasonable accommodations that could eliminate or reduce the threat.

This was a great place for my husband and I to relax and enjoy the area. We were there in early January which is off season so not a lot of people. But that's what we like. Location of this house is perfect for short walk to the beach. Just 2 blocks from numerous tikis and restaurants. I loved the walkability of it. There's a nice walking trail thru the park and along the jetty then follows along the road for miles.
The house itself is very welcoming and comfortable. Well stocked. Very clean. Easy check-in. We spent our mornings on the back patio and sitting in the sun in the fenced in back yard. We would definitely stay again if we're in the area.

Thank you for sharing your house with us. It had everything we needed especially for the beach! Only glitch was that door code provided was mistyped but my husband tried different codes close to provided code and got us in on the first try! Owner response was quick.

This was our second time staying here, and we had a fantastic weekend, again. Communication with the owners and getting in the house was easily done. Extremely comfortable and beyond average cleanliness. The air conditioning is excellent. The kitchen is set up really nicely also. We had easy access to the beach. We are looking forward to coming back, already. Thanks very much!

The perfect place for our little family vacation.

Conveniently located within walking distance of Jetty Park, the beach, and several restaurants (loved Taco Dive). The kids had a blast swimming at the beach and fishing along the inlet at the park. Enjoyed the farmers market, kayaking at Ft. Pierce Inlet State Park, and eating at Sailfish Brewing. House was a little smaller than anticipated and bedrooms were very close together, but it was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay.

I had many questions before, during, and after booking. Host replied within minutes which gave us comfort.
Checkin was a breeze as with checkout.
We had a few cool nights and wanted to capitalize on the breeze but couldn't as some windows/doors didn't have screens.
The walk to beach and area restaurants/bars were only minutes. Perfect.
Neighborhood is quiet and well kept.
This little gem fulfilled our needs and will return!!!
As far as the beds... they were fine. I am not sure why people complain... afterall a bed is a personal choice. You go away on vacation and get what you get.
We only wished there were some other type of transportation offered...bikes, golfcart, etc. But the walk in the sun was great vitamin D!
Thanks again for opening your home to our family.

Everything about this property was perfect. The house is well equippped with everything you need. Loved the charcoal grill too. Tons of towels, blankets, beach stuff, chairs.... The house is a couple of blocks from the beach. It is in a quiet neighborhood, within walking distance to the pier.

We received the check in code at 4pm for this spacious ranch home in a fairly quiet neighborhood close to restaurants and the beach.
We have rented over 45 places over the past 10 years and painstakingly read reviews and make sure that all places meet our particulars that we like....
1) Central air conditioning - Excellent!
2) Fans in bedroom - yes
3) Nice outdoor space - ehhh
4) Comfy Beds - This did not meet our expectations. The ad describes Serta mattresses. What was in all bedrooms were cheap $199 mattresses made of mostly foam and polyester. Sold by Eco Living in Carlstadt, NJ and made in Indonesia. The pillows need to be thrown out. Dirty, no pillow covers on them. And all available sheets and bedding were also polyester, even though they were cute patterns.
Beach Chairs - There are camp chairs, but not a chair I would consider a beach chair. (We went out & bought 2 at $60 each so we could enjoy the 8 days we booked. The weather was perfect for our stay.
I mentioned the Serta mattresses and chairs to Dave and this was his response
"Hello, the items in the home reflect the listing as accurately as possible. That specific type of mattress is made of Wave Gel Infused Memory Foam and they are found in top hotels around the world. I cannot control where a company makes their mattresses. Most have commented on their comfort as you can see in the reviews. As for the beach chairs, there are many different shapes, sizes, and types. We have provided a few different brands and styles. Hopefully, one of those suits your needs. If not, there are several local places to buy the specific kind you like."
It would have been sufficient for him to say that I was correct, there are no Serta mattresses and that he would update the listing to be accurate. As of the end of our stay it still claims Serta mattresses.
The outdoor pictures look like they were taken when the grass was alive and the yard was at least raked. The landscaping has been neglected for awhile and we preferred to just stay inside when we visited the property, which was to shower/sleep or enjoy the air conditioning when it got too hot in the afternoon. The a/c was phenomenal.
The other furniture was comfy.
The kitchen had enough to get by for a week, with a few spices, oils, sugar and coffee.
Highlights: Vero Beach was gorgeous.
Restaurants that we enjoyed were Skippers, Shuckers & Island Beach Bar & Grill.
The 8 digit code was inconvenient for us. Dave gave us a key. That was great!

The Best Time
We loved the house, it was above average clean and decorated so nicely. It’s very serene and peaceful. The AC stays nice and cool, ceiling fans in every room and beautiful terrazzo floors. The backyard was very nice also with a covered porch and a privacy fence. Also the neighborhood was very quiet. Walking to the beach was easy. The owners made everything simple with no trouble checking in. We’re already looking forward to going back.

Everything is as advertised, only complaint was the bed. Would have liked a king or a better mattress. I have a messed up back so it's a miniscule thing. Enjoy the beach!! It really is as close as advertised!

Get ready to be impressed by the home, locals & endless beaches...
This property is a hidden gem for those wanting a great home at a great price, in an outstanding location! From the moment we walked inside, we were greeted with fresh cut flowers, and the scent of an extremely clean home. Everything you need is provided for you, including start-up toiletries, dish-soap, bathing soap, toilet paper, paper towels, olive oil, salt, pepper, coffee, medium cooler with wheels, 6 beach chairs/towels - the works! The owner's are easy to reach, very accommodating, & too humble about the back yard - which has a great covered patio with a dartboard, and a great table for outdoor dining. Even the seat cushions are incredibly clean! Did I mention the house has 4 separate entries? It makes for easy entry depending on whether you're unloading the car (enter through the car port door); washing off sand from your feet (use the handy hose by the kitchen entry), or washing beach towels (enter by the laundry room). The location is a 5-min walk from restaurants where you can sit outdoors and have breakfast, lunch or dinner - all while listening to live bands and waves crashing in the background. There's even free parking directly across the beach - incase you have too many beach toys! The sand is soft, the water refreshing, and the sea shells beautiful. We encountered a baby sea turtle and a gopher tortoise during our brief stay! How cool is that! A great surprise was how friendly everyone is. Get ready to be greeted, morning noon & evening by the locals. We're from Miami, so that was a pleasant change. There are so many different sections/beaches all within a short drive, so make sure to stay at least 3-4 days to check out as each one is unique. Finally, wake up early & catch a sunrise. The orange, blue, purple, yellow, and endless array of colors will leave you breathless!
