About this house rental
Built in 1936, our Apple Court home has been lovingly, accurately restored, decorated, and furnished to 1930s styles. Owned and operated solely by the Greendale Historical Society, we have added modern amenities such as flat screen TV, WiFi, A/C, fully functional kitchen, and modern bathrooms.
Stroll the nearby paths to discover the history of Greendale, built in the 1930s Great Depression. One of only three "Greenbelt Communities" Greendale was built to provide jobs and housing for moderate income families.
In just two years, thousands of previously unemployed workers built 572 living units. Over 100 families moved in the first two weeks of May, 1938. By design, the homes were built close to the street or court. This allowed the living room to be located at the other side of the house facing the yard and its picturesque views.
A stay in our Original and in Greendale is unique in every way!

We've been staying at this property for 4 years, and it's as clean and welcoming this year as 4 years ago! The managers have done an amazing job maintaining the house. This stay our weather wasn't great, so we didn't have a chance to wander around the village of Greendale like we usually do. But even in the cold weather (it snowed in April) we were snug and comfy in the house. It's always well-stocked with paper goods, towels, comfortable sheets and blankets. Plenty of dishes, coffee and creamer in the fridge. We were even welcomed with an Easter basket for the kids. If we had one complaint, it would probably be the neighbors who park in the street and make it tricky to back out of the driveway. But with a little maneuvering, my husband can always make it work. Thank you Greendale Historical Society for always providing a sanctuary for our little family.

We enjoyed a peaceful, along with historical stay on Apple Ct. it is obvious that all details for a comfortable stay have been thought of. Items displayed on the walls, the fun downstairs 1/2 bath and the furniture are an added treat! Make sure to visit the downtown Welcome Center. So easy to walk to.
Would definitely stay again.

It’s the cutest little house you can ever rent. The restoration of the place is amazing! The neighborhood was so quite, and peaceful it was like staying at my own home minis my crazy cats. My husband and I went to Milwaukee trying to get everything planned and ready to move my Dad across country. So that help remove some of the stress. Thank you Greendale community for the best travel stay I have every had!

We were so delighted with the very nice house and lovely yard. The owners had provided information about the house and its history which was most interesting. We enjoyed the attention to detail. We would love to return.

We had a wonderful stay. The house itself is carefully restored, and includes information about each room. The kitchen is just charming, with the original sink, metal cabinets, and retro-style fridge and microwave. The whole house is perfectly clean and everything is very new - for instance, each of the chrome faucets is sparking clean & new looking. The outdoor space was an unexpected treat as well - a small table out front, a table big enough for dining out back, and two comfy wicker chairs near the main door.
We also enjoyed walking to the village for breakfast, using the walking paths. We found many of the special chimney art, and had a delicious breakfast at the Milk Can Diner!
We would definitely stay again - such great memories were made on this trip.

Many thanks to the Greendale Historical Society. This Greendale original home is restored/renovated in the most lovely way. It is walkable to to the quaint village of downtown Greendale with shops and restaurants. I enjoyed a outdoor concert at the Gazebo and Farmer's market. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The beds were very comfortable and the essentials were provided. I highly recommend as a perfect home away from home if you're in the area and I look forward to my next stay.

We stayed here for the weekend to attend a wedding celebration in Greendale. The house was welcoming and set up so perfectly. Last time in town we stayed at a hotel, and it wasn't a good experience so we searched out a different experience and this was perfect. The history of the house and the Village is so very special. The house was impeccably cleaned and had everything we needed for a weekend stay. We would stay here again. It was a great reminder of how simple life was back then.

Absolutely wonderful. Well maintained and very comfortable. My only suggestion is possibly provide a larger skillet and pan. The small skillet and small pan made making breakfast and meals a bit slower for 3 people. And this is not a complaint. We managed . Thelication and neighborhood is delightful and such a welcome.

We are 3 friends, in our 70's, who have been lifelong friends! The house was just perfect for us. We found the chimneys, ate at delicious cafes, shopped in the cute shops, and enjoyed evenings in the house. It was clean, comfy and we definitely recommend!

Ted and the Historical Society have done a wonderful job. So many things to mention. First, so clean! Immaculate! Extra blankets and comforts. Cookies! and decorated so cute. Highly recommend. Thank you for letting us stay.

This is a real cool historic property, and the owners have done a painstaking job of restoring everything to look as it did back when it was built! The house is very cute and clean, and the neighborhood itself is interconnected by walking paths that are really beautiful to walk around on. Historic Greendale feels like you've travelled back in time, but you're also within walking distance of a full mall, lots of restaurants, a grocery store, etc. My only note for others is that the beds are a bit narrow, so my partner and I slept in separate rooms.

With the rain the dampness really brought out the mildew smell. The property is not conducive to those with mobility problems. The three bedrooms are on the top floor with access through a steep stairway.

Parking was subpar as it was extremely difficult to get out of the driveway. The neighbor had their car parked in the worst place on the road.

Best things about the unit: it’s more spacious than the photos show, very clean, great amenities, yard was maintained and beautiful, a/c was wonderful, great Wi-Fi, host was responsive. Overall a wonderful stay.

Great spot in Greendale original
As my grandparents were Greendale originals it was great to be able to stay in one of these homes to see what they were like back in the day. My mother was thrilled and recalled her time spent on Angle Lane with her in-laws family.

Fun Stay
The Greendale Apple Court Original is really a neat place to stay. The house has everything you'll need while visiting Milwaukee. It's so close to everything and way more interesting than staying in a hotel or vrbo condo. The history of it, the neighborhood and the contents of the house was a fun thing to read about during our stay. We will be back!
