Inclement weather/Internet/Electricity: We are in a rural area and have no control over such things as outages for power, internet, wifi, etc. Sometimes, internet will go in and out because of summer thunderstorms. Usually, it is restored fairly soon after the storm passes but not always. No refund will be given since these are rare occurrences and completely out of our control. If it is a long term event lasting days, the stay can be rescheduled. Departures due to inclement weather do not warrant refund of rent or deposit. We highly suggest Vacation Travel Insurance to account for situations such as this.
In case of power outage, there are small lanterns located in the bedroom closet and a flashlight on the refrigerator and next to the bed.
**Wildlife and Insects Disclaimer – This cabin is located in the woods with wildlife native to this area. Please be aware that there may be deer, raccoons, fox, squirrels, bears, raccoons, opossums, snakes, as well as other wildlife. The two snakes that are poisonous in this region are the Timber Rattler and the Copperhead. Please be aware of this when walking on the property and in the vicinity during warmer weather. Please close the lid firmly on outside trash can so as to not attract bears or other animals.
Depending on the time of year and the weather conditions, guests may encounter mosquitoes, gnats, “no see-ums” (tiny mosquito type bugs you can’t see but they bite) stink bugs, ladybugs, and other random bugs. Although we do have the cabin treated monthly, you may still see a random bug. We cannot control mother nature. You can help by keeping the doors closed, not opening doors at night when the lights inside are on and not leaving food out. We are unable to offer any guarantees against or refunds for the occasional bug that may make it inside our home. Thanks for understanding.
House Rules
No pets
Maximum occupancy - 2
No smoking inside or within 5’ of entrances if doors are open.
No parties or large gatherings. This will result in immediate vacate of the property without refund.
No outside fires (other than deck fire pit) because the house is in a heavily wooded area. We do have an outside propane fire pit that we ask you not to use if there are high winds.
This is a quiet place to find rest and peace. Please respect the serenity of our property for the sake of neighbors as well as wildlife.
Sentosa Cabin is a nature lover’s haven but we would like to leave nature and it’s residents outside. Please do not leave doors ajar as you may invite in unwanted pests such as mice, bugs or a possum (unlikely but possible). Lights on inside at night with the door open will invite a multitude of moths and bugs and possibly some larger critters you may not want to share your space with. Leaving food or trash outside unattended may also attract larger critters that you would not want to share your space with. Please be mindful that you are in a forest and you are the visitor.
Please respect our home as if it was your own.
Relax and enjoy yourselves.

Away from the craziness of UVA move in. Perfect place to stay while moving in our student. Far enough away that he felt left alone, but close enough to go and get him for dinner. Quiet oasis in the woods. Perfect for the soul

Great place for a couple looking to unwind, mountain view is gorgeous. Very peaceful & quiet, I used a bird call app that identified over 20 different birds while sitting on the back porch. Sarah and her hubbie helped out with water on our last day after a storm caused the power to go out.

The cabin was so cozy and stocked with everything my husband and I needed - we spent a lot of time relaxing on the back deck and enjoying the view with the propane fire burning. We loved the absolute quiet and solitude and took advantage of the hiking trails on the property each morning. The hike down to the river (which is beautiful!) is quite steep and a good workout! The cabin is also an easy 20-30 minute drive to several wineries and breweries... just choose a direction ahead of time and plan accordingly so you're not driving all over the county. :) Thank you, Sarah, for sharing your property - we look forward to coming back!

Loved this little cabin for a "get away from it all" stay. The directions to get to this remote spot were excellent which was great because I got in well after dark to find lots of lights on making it easy to spot. The cabin was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were so soft and silky I didn't want to get out of bed. There was a huge buck wandering past the back porch the first morning and I enjoyed sitting on the back porch next to the propane fire pit and watching the sunset over the mountains while keeping toasty warm. The kitchen is tiny but has everything you need. A big plus for me was the washer and dryer so I could start the next part of my trip with clean clothes. The directions and suggestions in the handbook were great. Loved Saunders Farm Market which is about 25 min away. I highly reccomend this cabin for anyone looking for a small, remote, getaway place. I will be back!

Beautiful property with a great system of private trails. Cabin was super cozy and just right for a couples weekend.Lots of attention to details, like camping chairs we took to a concert at Devils Backbone, to fairy gardens, to the Virginia Curiosities books, and just an amazing view on the back deck. A perfect place to breath and feel the cool mountain air of early fall. Thanks to the host for thinking of everything and letting us enjoy such a perfect space.Feeling rejuvenated!

Just as described! So serene, beautiful surroundings, incredible sunsets from the back deck, lots of wildlife to watch and witness. Saw a cute squirrel eating a mushroom, hummingbirds & butterflies came to visit, many different types of birds. Miss Sara is very hospitable, quick to respond and so accommodating, such a great hostess!! The gardens of plants and flowers all around are amazing, what beautiful landscaping!
The cabin is very clean, lots of little extras like games, cards, books, gas fire pit, full size nicely stocked kitchen, washer & dryer, even extra cozy blankets for snuggling on the couch or out back. A fantastic getaway for anyone looking for a reprieve from busy, hectic, loud life as usual. Unwinding, resting, reading, eating good local food like Moose's By The Creek, walking the trail to the river, swinging in the hammock, early morning mountain fog while you drink your coffee, beautiful quiet evenings, clean cabin... we cannot say enough good things about Sentosa Cabin! Can't wait to go back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful mountain with the world!

Sharon wa a joy to work with and has a small notebook with instructions on anything you would want to know. Many wineries and distilleries in the area. Lots of peace and quiet and secluded setting. Absolutely loved our time there and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. The wife loved all the hummingbirds she saw while sitting on the back porch. Two thumbs up!
