About this house rental
This home boasts three bedroom suites! Multiple decks with oceanfront hot tub, your own personal beach access with public accesses far enough away to discourage crowds. Play games on the beach or under the house in the shade. Our brand new router means there is WiFi in every room and we have even been able to get a signal on the beach!
Lower Level: Parking for ten vehicles. Outdoor prep sink, large enclosed outdoor shower with a rainfall shower head, hand held sprayer and foot rinse. Covered entry into the house from the carport. Guests have access to an indoor storage area.
2nd Level: Great room with two sitting areas, ten-person dining room with four stools at the bar, large kitchen and another bedroom suite.
Great Room: This welcoming great room has two sofas and a recliner. It is filled with picture windows and a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean. Two seating areas provide ample space for everyone. Pull-Out Sofa in the seating area. Oceanfront deck spans the length of the house. 65" Roku television and DVD player. Bookcases full of puzzles, board games and books. Telescope. Stereo for CDs and cassettes or connect your device. A half bath leads off the great room.
Dining area: An extra large dining table seats 10, kitchen bar accommodates 4 more. Plenty of cabinets with tons of prep space. Well-stocked with cookware, dishware, serving vessels and placemats. Appliances include a refrigerator, smooth top stove, dishwasher, coffeemakers (including Keurig), crock pots, Foreman grill, rice cooker, double toaster and blender.
Screened porch and deck: Soundside. Picnic table, two fans, fun programmable color-changing LED lights. To the right a screened door leads to another deck. Both the deck and porch offer views of the marshes and creeks that lead to the Intracoastal Waterway.
The Palm Tree Room: Soundside/QUEEN bedroom suite with private bath. Soundside views and a 43" Roku TV. Private bath with full size shower and tub.

This is the perfect house, so comfy and spacious - right on the beach. The owners are responsive and kind, always ready to answer questions and offer assistance. The kitchen is the most well stocked of any house I’ve ever rented. There are so many extra thoughtful touches throughout the house that makes it feel like home. Already booked for next year, our family and friends love this house!!

This was our family's fourth time storing at the property and our third year in a row. The house is well stocked with almost anything you would need, is very clean and updated, safe, etc. The location is amazing: actual beachfront with amazing views, really close to many restaurants/bars, and on its own little road with just a handful of other houses (off the main one with all the "fast" moving traffic). Additionally, Jacalyn is a wonderful host and communicates frequently and timely.

This is the second year we’ve stayed at the Laughing Pelican and it just fits our family perfectly! We have 8 adults and 4 kids. The house has an awesome living space which is connected to the kitchen. It’s a wide open space with plenty of room for everyone! The one upstairs bedroom is perfect for grandma and grandpa, and all other bedrooms are right down the stairs. The bunk room is a hit with our kids, and all other bedrooms are super comfortable (mounted TVs in each room). The location is perfect, just a short walk down the stairs to the beach (love the newly built walkway). The convenience store right down the street is so great, and just a short drive to our favorite ice cream shop, Island Delights:) Jacalyn is always super responsive and helpful! 10/10! My favorite part of this house is that it’s not massive with tons of stairs-it is manageable with kids and older people but still has enough space for us all.

The house is clean and well-kept. The kitchen has everything you’ll need. The rooms are spacious and furnished nicely. And we got to witness a spectacular loggerhead turtle hatching; 129 turtles started their journey to the Gulf Stream from a nest right next to the property.

This was our third year vacationing at The Laughing Pelican in North Topsail Beach, and we had another fun family vacation. The house is great for multiple families with children! It is a clean, upscale, beautifully decorated home that is very well appointed. The house works well for families with a bedroom and bath for grandparents on the top floor and five bedrooms for adult kids/grandkids on the 2nd. The oceanfront location is everything you would expect, and it’s just a short walk over the sand dunes to a beautiful beach! Most especially, we love relaxing on the back porch in the morning and evening with the soft, cooling ocean breeze!
The house has so much to offer families including many board games, puzzles for all ages, a variety books for beach vacation reading, beach chairs, and beach toys. Also we were provided with lots of linens. In addition, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need/want for cooking and eating with a large group. It doesn’t disappoint!
The owner, Jacalyn, is a caring, responsive owner and very helpful if you have a need with something during your beach vacation. You can tell how much she loves her beach cottage and takes pride in making it a memorable place to vacation for her renters! We hope to come back sometime to North Topsail for vacation!

Book this house you will not be disappointed. Perfect location on the beach. Plenty of room for the entire family. Stayed with four generations and had a wonderful time in the Laughing Pelican. Linens and towels were provided and kitchen was the best stocked of any beach house we’ve stayed in over the past 10 years. House was well taken care of and has a great trex deck!

We had a wonderful week here!! The house was perfect for our family. The view is amazing, and being able to walk directly out to the beach was great. We were a family of seven adults and four children ages 16 months-4 years, and we had plenty of room to spread out. The large common area with a spacious and extremely well stocked kitchen was much appreciated, as were things like a gate at the top of the stairs in the house and on the top deck, two high chairs, and baby pools and beach toys. There's also plenty of parking available. If you're considering staying here, you won't regret it!

We spent the week at Laughing Pelican with our adult sons, their girlfriends, and our collective pups. It’s clear how well the owners take care of the house, as it was perfect! The property description was very accurate, from the kitchen (sooo well stocked with every appliance, dish, bowl, etc. needed!) to the lower level (thanks for the cornhole game, as we played it several times!). Jacalyn was wonderful about communicating, from booking to check-in and check-out, and everything in between! We will stay there again in the future and would have already booked for next year, if it weren’t for the announcement of a destination wedding this time next year! We had the best vacation! The house was immaculate, the beds were super comfy. The kitchen had absolutely everything, I’ve never stayed in a rental that was so well stocked. The location was stunning, waking up to the waves every morning was fantastic. The hot tub was amazing. The owners were so kind, texting us to have a good trip the morning we were supposed to arrive, and then checking in with us because a storm was coming, making sure that we were OK. We have already booked this property for next year because our entire group absolutely loves this beach house. Thank you so much!

A great week for 3 generations! Two levels of direct ocean view. Quiet at night, dark so the stars are clear and the beach is shared only with the neighbors. Incredible outdoor shower. So much parking! There are hoses on each deck level. The kitchen was large and well appointed. All the furniture was clean and comfy. I would highly recommend this home!

This was our 2nd stay here at the Laughing Pelican. Wonderful new decking & stairs. Jacalyn is great to work with.
1 concern: kitchen is really nice and plenty of counter space, lots of storage. Problem: too many drawers & doors. Hard to find anything as people seem to put things away just anywhere. Spent a lot of time looking for stuff. I wanted to organize all of it and my kids wouldn't let me.
Counter top ice maker was really helpful.

Our family (ages ranging from 1 year old to 72) had the best time at the Laughing Pelican! We loved how all of the bedrooms but 1 were on the lower level. There was enough space to spread out and not have noise from upstairs affect napping kids. The bedrooms are all beautiful- love all of the pretty hanging quilts and beachy art/lamps. We loved the deck overlooking the ocean and spent each evening out there enjoying cocktails, as well as coffee at sunrise. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, and the huge dining table was perfect for eating and playing games. You can’t beat being just steps from beautiful Topsail. Thanks for a great family vacation:)

This was our second time at this property and we still found it to be perfect! I wrote a detailed review last year and I would encourage everyone to reference it as it’s all still very true.
Location, amenities, cleanliness, comfort, the spacious bedrooms and thoughtful additions really make this home perfect. Not to mention the slope of the beach makes for a really enjoyable swimming area.
Another big thing they offer is linens and the beds are made. We’ve rented for over a decade in topsail and this is the only house that offered that.
During both stays Jacqueline was very responsive and helpful too. I would highly recommend staying here.

This was our second time staying in The Laughing Pelican in Surf City, and we had wonderful family beach vacation. The house is perfect for multiple families with children! It was great also for us because we were able to bring our puppy dog along. Also the house is within walking distance of fun place to eat with live music!
The Laughing Pelican house itself is awesome too! It is a clean, upscale home that is very well appointed and beautifully decorated. The layout works well for families with the grandparents on the top floor and our adult kids/grandkids on the 2nd. The oceanfront location is perfect with ocean/beach views 24/7 and just a short walk over the dunes to a wide beach! We find that relaxing on the porches with the gentle soft ocean breeze is the best way to start and end our day!
The house has so much extra to offer including board games, puzzles, books, beach chairs, and beach toys along with lots of linens, and a kitchen which has everything you could possibly need for cooking and eating with a large family including two high chairs. It doesn’t disappoint!

The house was fantastic right on the beach. It was so convenient with 5 children 9yrs to 2mos and 7 adults. There was plenty of space for all of us. The owner was responsive and very accommodating. She made the trip so easy once we all got there from all over the country knowing she was ready fur our group. Thank you. I highly recommend this property, especially with young children gates supplied, wading pool for the deck for little ones when they got tired of the beach.

This is an amazing property that has everything you need. My family takes an annual beach trip to Topsail and we always try to stay at this property. I believe this was our third year in this house, and we'll try to continue booking this one.

The Laughing Pelican was perfect for me & my family & we all loved Topsail Island. The home has so many fantastic little touches that made life at the beach so much fun and convenient for us, like: the huge covered garage areas; long driveway; outdoor shower; water hoses on each deck for rinsing sandy feet; abundant selection of dishes, and cooking pots/pans; counter-top ice maker; amazing washer/dryer; upstairs & downstairs thermostats; comfortable beds for all; and of course- a really awesome hot tub! Topsail is my favorite beach and this house quickly became one of my favorite beach stays. Thank you to the amazing hosts who had excellent communication with me and was always accessible to answer questions. We hope to be back in 2024!

A great inter-generational - long overdue - family reunion!
Families from Oregon, Washington state, California, Florida, Ohio and NC all gathered to enjoy each other and the beautiful Atlantic beach. We paid tribute to a deceased nephew as family ages from 74- 1 gathered together. One of the brothers has a beautiful home in Surf CIty so we were all comfortably served with enough space. The Laughing Pelican was a delightful home for 15 of us. Hope to return!

We've been coming to Topsail since 2004 and this house has it all. From comfy beds to amazing views to a beautiful private-feeling beach. If you have dogs there's plenty of space to let them out in the morning and not feel like you're too close to a street. There's a super nice hot tub, outside shower with warm water, powerful hoses on all decks to make it easy to get sand off, and plenty of comfortable seating. Kitchen is well stocked, very spacious, and living room is comfortable and has a giant Roku TV. We could go on and on - but hesitate to because selfishly we'd like to keep this place all to ourselves, hahaha!
For you surfers and swimmers out there - there are buried pier pilings underwater maybe 50 yards or so to the right of the property (marked clearly with signs) so stay to the right of the signs when swimming. Not hard to do, just wanted to point that out for days when there's strong currents pulling to the right.

Amazing property on North Topsail. Perfect location on beach just north of Surf City. The kitchen and main room are very large, we were able to have multiple cooks in the well stocked kitchen and all 10 of us could sit at the large dining table. The bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds. If you have a large group the Laughing Pelican should be on your list.

This home is in a perfect location with beautiful views. There was plenty of space to spread or and gather the whole family together. The kitchen was huge and fully stocked! The only area that could be improved upon would be the carpets on the stairs and in the bedrooms. They just need a good cleaning after the busy summer. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Our family loved our stay at the laughing pelican! The bedrooms are all a good size and beds are comfortable.
The second level is very open so everyone can be together or see one another on the beach.
The kitchen is big and very well stocked. We love to cook so we appreciated all the additional counter space and storage pantry.
The pink pong set was a major hit! If that’s not your thing they have a large collection of games, puzzles and books to choose from.
The beach was easily accessible and was perfectly wide even at high tide. The outdoor shower and lower beach storage area was great too!
In terms of location is was a very short drive to shopping and restaurants.
Jacque was very responsive and helpful.
We highly recommend this property and hope to stay again next year.

Great house in a great spot on the beach. The rooms were all clean and there were plenty of bathrooms. The renters closet had plenty of beach supplies. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Property for Family Beach Vacation!
This is the second time me and my extended family have stayed at this property for our annual beach trip to Topsail Island! I can't recommend this home enough! It has all the amenities you could ask for, and you simply cannot beat the location and views!! The owner communicated very well during our stay and even sent some helpful reminders and tips. We hope to be able to stay at the Laughing Pelican again next year!

This house has everything and more!
Best beach week ever. Beautiful home, lots of room to spread out, eat together, play together,and be together. Also lots of places to get off by yourself, seating areas, mutiple decks (screened, covered, open, oceanfront, sound side). Impressively well stocked with puzzles, games, small appliances, cards, pens, pencils, flashlights, tool kit, rubbermaid containers, first aid kit, beach sand toys, boogie boards, games, corn hole etc, etc. We even had a mid night visit from a sea turtle but it didnt nest, still exciting for all to find the tracks in the morning. We had a great tide pool for the little ones, and big ones, to play in each day and the water was clearer than I've ever seen in the Carolinas. Huge, enclosed hot and cold shower made beach clear up a breeze, also houses on each deck. 3 generations and a dog. The only thing missing was an elevator, but we all got good leg workouts and the the view makes the 3 stories worth it. Ages 1 year to 70 and we all had a fantastic time. Went home with great memories, lots of shells and sharks teeth and plans to come back. Don't miss the parachute for kids to play with, we found it while packing up sand toys in the storage room on the last day. The Host, Jace, is great and responds quickly to text messages. I feel like we've found our beach home away from home.

Spacious and Beautiful
We LOVED the Laughing Pelican! We are from the midwest and took a long time to select the place that would be perfect for us. We chose this location because the photos and description sounded perfect for our party of 10 - and it didn't disappoint. The house is bright and airy, and the views are to die for. Just walk out the door to a beach and ocean that is all yours. We had more than enough room and everything in the kitchen we needed. The host was very communicative and helpful all along the way. You should book this place. You'll love it.

Best Beach Vacation in wonderful home
This place exceeded our expectations in every way. The house was very well kept and very well equipped for vacationers (we had 3 couples and 2 children and 2 dogs with lots of leftover room). It was great to be a short walk to the beach (loved the sound of the waves crashing), I loved the outdoor hot and cold shower. The rooms were bright, clean, comfortable in every way. We played some of the supplied games, assembled a few puzzles and even read a few of the many books supplied. Was a real bonus to have 2 restaurants a short walk away. All in all a great vacation and will book again next year.

We loved every minute of our stay. Beautiful home, decorations, art. Kitchen is amazing and very well equipped. The views from the living area of the house are just amazing. We had perfect weather, with a slight very welcome rain on Thursday. Great dining table for all of us to share meals, work puzzles and play Euchre. Jacalyn was wonderful to communicate with. My only concern is no roof over the top porch, as it gets too hot to be out there as long as I wanted. My grandson set up an umbrella for me! Ages range from18-74.

Wonderful house with the most spectacular view! We loved having the big open kitchen, it made it really easy for a big group of people to be working in the kitchen. The trex on the deck was really nice to have with our babies.

Perfect for families!
This home was perfect for our families vacation. There are 4 children under 4 years old in the family and the space, bunk beds, proximity to the beach etc all made for an exceptional stay. Jacalyn was incredible accommodating and we are so thankful. This was our first time in Topsail and we will be back and if this home is available we will be staying here again. It was perfect!
