Our first rental cancelled our reservation 3 days before we were to arrive for Hot August Nights and we were in a panic as to where to stay as Reno gets quite full at that time. We got so lucky to find this listing. The house is really a great place to stay. The location is wonderful, right on the river. It was really nice to sit on the back deck and relax after looking at cars all day in the heat. The home is located in an RV park that is close to everything. The tiny home itself had everything we needed. I will say that the staircase up to the loft with the 2nd bed is precarious, lucky there was just two of us and didn't need to. You would also need to be quite small and agile to move around up there. Would definitely stay there again!

The "cottage" was very comfortable, close to the river. The staff in the office were wonderful.

We enjoyed our stay at this tiny cabin. The cabin is on the Truckee River and was a pretty spot! The people who work here are very polite and helpful. The unit could have used a few more basic items in the kitchen like utensils, cutting board, and hot pads.

Unable to even get into the property. My email to management.
Hello River West Resort,
I stayed at your property booked through VRBO 6/11-6/12/22 (Tanzanite Cottage).
When I arrived at check in the doors were locked and I received NO codes to enter.
After trying to message though the VRBO app and trying to call the listed number multiple times and after walking to the managers hut at the entrance we decided to jump onto the back deck to see if there was instructions on how to enter at the front door.
My family, including my 86 year old mother waited on the deck of the cottage for over an hour - there was no help and no code available.
Then my nephew found an open back door.
We entered, saw the welcome card and settled in.
Because no one ever answered my texts for help through the app we decided to make due. We couldn’t leave the cottage during out stay because there was no way to secure our things so we just stayed.
At check out, I again call repeatedly and texted saying we would be leaving but I could not leave the key in the instructed place because WE NEVER RECEIVED A KEY.
After leaving for breakfast I realized I left my AirPods in the cottage. We headed back and again had no way to enter. I call and texted again but no reply.
We happened to bump into an employee, picking up the mail on the street and she let me in to get my things. This was all before 11 AM the appointed check out time. I should have had access.
On the way back to San Franciso I finally got a management call. He apologized which was appreciated but he also said he would be following up to hear the complaint. It’s after 6:30 PM and still I haven’t heard anything.
I am a frequent user of VRBO and nothing like this has ever happened to me.
This is a very cute property but if you can't gain access and have no help when a problem arises it is pointless.
Won't be coming back.

Light-filled, cozy cottage
I'm a tiny house fan, and was excited to discover Reno finally had its own tiny homes for rent. I booked the Tanzanite Cottage for a staycation and alone time for just me. It delivered on all my expectations, and I look forward to staying there again or trying one of the other Gemstone Cottages. The Tanzanite is happily situated between two towering elm trees offering shade and dappled sunlight that fills the cottage. You can see and hear the Truckee River from most of the windows and most certainly from the two back porches--main level and upper level. When you sit on the upper level porch, you feel kind of like you're in a treehouse. In just about 100 steps out the back door, you can be standing on the banks of the river. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Check-in and check-out was super easy. I appreciated that the cottage and the one next door were inside a fenced area for privacy. Pretty landscaping. Kitchen has a few plates and drinking glasses, eating utensils, two pots, one frying pan, one small baking pan and a few plastic bowls for tossing salads. There is also a chopping knife and wooden spoons for use with the pots and pan. There is no spatula (I brought my own) and no oven mitt (I used the dish towel to remove items from the oven). Coffee pot worked fine--just one cup at a time--and must use coffee pods (two were provided). Bathroom is spacious for a tiny house and had a nice walk-in shower with good water pressure. The loft is cute, but I decided to sleep in the downstairs bed, which was very comfortable. It's city-living that feels like you're in the country a bit. Close to downtown and midtown restaurants, bars and shopping. There is traffic on the nearby street and the train goes through a few times during the day and evenings, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to noise.

Fun to experience tiny home living
Immaculate riverfront property close to everything Reno has to offer. Comfortable and clean with great outdoor living on the decks. Best for a couple, or couple with older kids.

A great place to stay!
We absolutely loved our time at this property. The location is convenient to the Reno airport and the property is beautiful. We appreciated the locked privacy fence and the house was very clean and surprisingly spacious. The complimentary breakfast was very nice!
Our only critique would be that the roller shades do not block much light.
We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful cottage
Perfect cottage on the river for my 2 night stay. It was really smokey so couldn't really enjoy the beautiful decking. Just a word of caution to light sleepers...busy road one cottage over, and trains late at night. Otherwise beats any hotel room!! Thanks for the great treats!

We enjoyed our stay. The place had a great view of the river. Felt safe, very well kept home. Highly recommend.

Great little place, but lacking in kitchen amenities
Super cute tiny house and overall very clean & comfortable. However, kitchen items are sparse to say the least. If you intend to cook any meals, be prepared to improvise or just eat out like we ended up doing. Coffee maker makes one cup (requires special pod), no toaster, no spatula, one knife, one small baking sheet, no dishwasher, no dish towels, no extra garbage bags (did I mention the ants?). There is plenty of empty cabinets in the kitchen, so please add some essential items to this kitchen. Some salt, pepper & olive oil would be nice as well. We ended up eating out for the majority of our meals which wasn't our initial plan.

Beautiful property
The house itself is beautifully designed. Didn’t feel like a tiny home at all. Felt really spacious. The outdoor patio was really well thought out. Loved spending time with my family sitting on the couch overlooking the river. The only issue I had was that the stairs to the loft inside the house and the spiral stairs outside the house was completely unsafe for small kids. My daughter fell down from the spiral stairs and got herself hurt. Thankfully it was nothing major and she was back on her feet in a few minutes. For the rest of the stay, me and my wife were running behind her all the time to make sure she isn’t falling down again.

Great tiny house
This place is very nice, it is right next to the river. And it's close to downtown Reno. The house itself is very nice, staircase in the house is rough to get up and down, but the one outside is fine. Overall a great place to stay if you need a small rental on the river

Overnight Stay in Reno
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the cottage it was very new, clean, well stocked and met all our needs size wise as a family of 4. The pastries and juices provided was a very nice surprise and we really liked having the opportunity to sit on the deck overlooking the Truckee River.

It was beautiful, super comfy but dirty
We didnt want to stay in a hotel so this was perfect. It was beautiful and stylish and there were passcode gates around it so it felt very secure. Check in was a breeze. And free breakfast/drinks. Everything was really top notch. My only complaint was that it was dirty. On the surface everything was fine but we leave our shoes at the door and our socks were black within a couple hours. There were a ton of storage cabinets that my toddler had to explore and they were full of dust bunnies. Overall we were very happy with the stay though and would stay again.

Such a great little home and location!
My 18 year old daughter and I came to visit my older daughter that is in school at UNR. The home is beautiful, fun, and a convenient location. Hearing the water at night was an added bonus. Highly recommended!!

Such a great location just outside of Downtown. Beautiful surroundings, but most importantly beautiful units. We wish it didn't have to come to an end.

Great place!
Found this property online and it did NOT disappoint! The pictures look exactly like it does in person. It was enough room for my husband and 2 kids (ages 14 & 18). We were visiting our other daughter who goes to UNR. It was great to stay some where else besides a hotel, that had a kitchen and common area for us to hang out in as a family. The beds were very comfortable, towels and linens were high quality - they even had snacks, fruit, waters and other beverages in the fridge for us when we arrived. Very thoughtful and was so nice that they did that much extra just for us! We will book again!

Incredible Gem of a Find!
Fantastic tiny house that is modern and fully furnished for comfort! The place was very clean and tastefully decorated. It was cozy! We especially loved the electric fireplace, the Smart TV, as well as the patio outside, which had a gas fire pit. The beds were incredibly comfortable and warm. The house does warm up quickly and stays toasty, so if you don't like sleeping warm, keep an eye on the thermostat or crack open a window. FYI - the upstairs loft window doesn't open. The full fridge, oven, stove and microwave were great for our stay. Not to mention that the fridge was thoughtfully stocked with juice, milk, eggs for our breakfast. As well as a fresh pastries, fruit, cereal, coffee. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning!

Sleek and Modern
We stayed 2 nights in this spectacular tiny home that is centrally located to all that the Reno area has to offer. This location is quiet and cozy for a getaway to the Ski Slopes. But what made this stay so special, was the extraordinary customer service and amenities. They left us a marvelous and delicious assortment of breakfast pastries, cereals, instant coffee, milk, juices, etc! They even provided great recommendations around the city. The home has a marvelous patio and firepit we would have used if it weren't for the snowy and cold weather! For improvements, they could fix the windows at the top bedroom to open, the latch was missing during our visit and it got pretty warm up there with the heat on at night. Also, wish there was a dishrack to place clean dishes after use. Other than that, this was a marvelous stay and I would definitely recommend it. Looks just like how it does in the pictures!

Great rental
Very clean tiny house with the large deck and balcony we had hoped for to socially distance. Unobstructed view of the river and room to walk to the river as well. Our granddaughters loved the tiny stairs, low ceiling loft and spiral steps up to the balcony. The courtyard area gave us a feeling of privacy and safety for the girls to play. Overall an excellent stay. Would absolutely stay in this tiny house again.
