We had SUCH a wonderful stay at the Bristlecone Cabin. Our group ranged from 2yo up to 67yo and we all just absolutely loved it. It is decorated so beautifully and every space is SO cozy. It was the perfect place for us to come "home" to every day. Thank you, again, for sharing this beautiful space!

This cabin and the view were absolutely gorgeous! Cannot recommend it enough. The elevation was a bit high for us Ohio folks but got used to it after a few days and were able to enjoy ourselves. The kids loved the basement area and spent every evening down there playing pool and watching movies. Saw lots of

We had a group of 10 people with one 7 year old and a one year old. The cabin was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious with a gorgeous view! Sat on the deck and enjoyed morning coffee. Played lots of pool in the downstairs room. Everyone slept well. We also saw 5 moose on the road to the cabin! Thank you for an amazing and memorable week.Thank you for

We enjoyed the beautiful views! The pool table and games were an added bonus, as was the passing fox seen off the deck. The primary bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the floor to ceiling windows in the living room provided a great view. Host was very responsive!

Me and my family really enjoyed our stay here. It was in a beautiful location and the cabin itself was lovely. Owners were also very friendly. Thank you for letting us stay!

The house is very clean, well appointed, and comfortable for hanging out, quiet time, and sleeping. The location is nice and quiet and has the remote cabin feel and brilliant views, but it is still close enough to Fairplay the town to make the stay convenient. I am glad we picked a pool table and entertainment basement area as the bonus feature for where we stayed as we used that more than we would have a jacuzzi. The local grocery store has everything you will want for cooking and supplies for your time at the cabin - no need to worry about limited options at the store. We also enjoyed breakfast at the Robins Nest several days before our day trips to around the area. I selected Fairplay as a base camp because there are several day trips that are easy to do from there that allowed us to see more of Colorado and the Rockies without having to stay in different places each night. Of course we did not see everything in the week we were there but what we saw was amazing and beautiful. The downtown area of Fairplay also has some amazing shops to explore which allowed my family a rest day from driving, but still let me see some really interesting art from local artists and get some excellent home made ice cream.

We have a overall great stay. We enjoyed all the towns around FairPlay and really some some fabulous sites. I would definitely stay here again. Great host who are very helpful. We saw Breckinridge , aspen, Leadville, beanua vista, manitou springs and Colorado Springs so it is decent driving distant from those towns.

The online pictures of The Bristlecone shared the exact views we enjoyed out the windows. The cabin was well stocked from kitchen items to warm fuzzy blankets. During our stay, the blanket of snow made the scenery even more picturesque.

We had a great weekend staying at this property. They have literally thought of everything that you need. The house has a great layout and so much to do on the property, but the view from the main room and the deck is the real reason to come stay here….just beautiful!!

Ben and Holly are excellent hostesses! Very friendly, and eager to please. We had 2 requests and both were met without any hassles. Property was even better than expected! Very clean, inviting, had everything you needed, and fantastic views! We were greeted with 2 bucks that lived right beside in the wood pile. Saw a moose, coyote, hare, doe and fawn, all while sitting on the deck! Had my husband, some of my kids, and grandkids with me. There is SO much to do, or just sit and relax, enjoy the view and listen to the river below. Pool table and darts were great entertainment after full day of exploring! My family can be very competitive! Plenty of games to play as well! We ate at a great Mexican restaurant in Fairplay the 1st night there. Hiked to Lilypad lake in Frisco. Beautiful hike! Saw a fox. Went to Blue Lakes, explored around there at waterfall, while rest of family hiked to the top of the mountain! Went to Turquoise Lake, refreshing swim after walk along the lake. Picniced there. Those are just a few things we did. So beautiful! Officer's Gulch is great too!! As we all got ready to go our separate ways and head back home, we ate breakfast in Fairplay at a place called Otto's. Fantastic food! Doesn't look like much, but glad we went! Must try it out!
We always enjoy going to the mountains in the summer, and we picked an amazing place to stay, with great hostesses! Couldn't have asked for anything better! Very pleased!

This is a beautiful cabin in a gorgeous setting. However, there are some serious issues that I believe the owners still need to iron out. On our first day by dinner time, we turned on the water faucet, and no water came out. We hadn’t taken showers or baths or even used much water in the preparation of dinner. We alerted the owner said he would send out a plumber. The plumber didn’t come until we were checking out on day three. On the second night at 2:15 AM all of the smoke alarms woke us up on the first floor. We opened windows (although there was no smoke). We pulled all of the smoke detectors down and dismantled the batteries. We were up for the rest of the night. I called VRBO and asked them to contact him and request a one night credit and he refused. If you don’t need sleep or water, rent this place.

Ben and Holly gave us just what my family needed! Absolute relaxation and some much family time. We were able to do a lol of site seeing in-between the rain showers. The only sad part, was on our way back to the cabin, (in heavy down poor /snow,)we came across a head on car accident and we don't think the driver made it. But the house, the area was absolutely gorgeous!!! Will definitely be coming back next year and the years to come as we are Going to make this as our yearly trip out to relax.

This place is awesome!! It had everything anyone could want.. small details were all there in abundance! From babies on up..a gate to be able to block stairway from little adventurous ones, games, toys… I’d love to bring my grandkids back! Beautiful place that feels very secluded even though there are some other places around, the trees block them so you feel alone. I sat on the deck all day just reading and looking at the beautiful snow capped mountains! Kitchen had EVERYTHING available. It is light and bright with the huge windows to look out. There were no steep drives to go up… all so well done. Never had any problems getting hold of them, they had great recommendations of where to shop, (Breckinridge) eat, and even had some chocolates to greet us..Would recommend highly!! Hope we get to go back with at least part of our family!

This place is gorgeous! We were looking for a quiet place where we could enjoy nature and we found it. The mountain views are amazing! The cabin was perfect for our family of 5. We enjoyed sledding outside, playing table games, and watching movies. Also, we were lucky to see 2 moose around. This cabin is well-kept and well-stocked. The kitchen has all the utensils and condiments needed for cooking. This is one of the things I loved about the cabin. The hosts were very attentive and responded quickly to our concerns. The distance from Breckenridge is convenient not too far.
We made great memories at this place and hope to come back next time! Thanks again for everything.

We had two families with little kids stay at Bristlecone for a ski trip to Breckinridge and the cabin was wonderful! Snow plowed roads was a blessing as we got snow, but really just enjoyed the amenities like the pool table, board games, TV and big living area where we laughed with friends and made memories! Would love to come back!

I’m grateful properties like this one are available for us to enjoy. The location, the place, the view, the nature, and the hosts made our stay a blast. We made great memories with our family, specially for our young kids. Thanks again!

Our family enjoyed the property and the owner communication and directions were very easy and helpful. We may return in the winter.
3.0 / 5.0
The home itself was pleasant. The location was lovely, somewhat secluded. It is away from town but there are several nearby neighbors. We saw plenty of wildlife - moose, deer, jackrabbit! The kitchen was very well stocked! Don’t worry about bringing any condiments or kitchen utensils, other than a wine opener. The views are beautiful! We white water rafted in Buena Vista and hiked Mt. Sherman.
The one disappointing thing, which left a bad taste on our mouth, is that after the trip we were charged for a cracked toilet seat. In our opinion, this should be considered normal wear and tear. We have no idea if it was already like this or occurred during our stay. In addition, we were charged for other items on the receipt that were not applicable to our stay. The frustrating part is that we feel we were expected to leave things in perfect condition, yet there were multiple small items in need of repair upon our arrival that we didn’t complain about. We simply let the owners know - broken chair on deck, broken deck screen door, hole in basement couch with screw popping through. We let the owners know about these items and they were aware but did not take action to fix those things for our stay.
Overall, the house was great. It was just frustrating and a bit hypocritical to expect us to leave a house perfect that we didn’t arrive to in perfect condition.

Setup for family fun!

We are CO natives and have stayed in MANY condos and cabins over the years. Bristlecone was one of the best-appointed homes we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The owners are highly organized and provided a seamless and easy check-in process. I keep a "condo bin" -- a crate full of all of the necessities most vacation rentals don't have (a good knife, spatula, small tool kit, scissors, plastic wrap, coffee filters, hand soap, laundry tabs, dish soap, etc) -- that we take with us to all of our rentals. We didn't need it at Bristlecone. The cabin already had everything! Further, the home was beautiful with plenty of room for family of six. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Next time!

Mountain getaway
We loved this house. It was a perfect fit size-wise for our large family. The kids enjoyed all the card games and the pool table. The views from the house were amazing. The house was stocked with plenty of items to allow us to cook most nights there. We were able to see a momma and baby moose on our stay. We also saw a bear just down the road. There are plenty of chipmunks, squirrels, and hummingbirds too. This is a good central spot if you are planning to go to area towns like Buena Vista or Breckinridge. We enjoyed the little downtown area in Fairplay. The town was small but had what we needed. The only issues we had with the area was the altitude. Coming from 200 ft in elevation to 11400 ft was rough on us. We drank plenty of water before our arrival but was still short of breath and had headaches. It only lasted a day or two. We did find that acid reducers for whatever reason did help. Even with the altitude issues, we would stay here again. The views are amazing and it feels pretty private. The road going to the house is gravel for a bit but manageable in the summer even with a Prius. Thanks for letting us share your home!

Framily Vacation
My friend and I stayed here with our families for a vacation in the mountains. It was the perfect amount of space, there were ample things for the kids to do, and it was absolutely beautiful! Our 6 month old struggled with altitude (which is no fault to homeowners), but just as a warning to future travelers with small children. Drinking coffee on the front porch in the morning with blanket wrapped around us was by far my favorite part of every day! The owners were readily available via text and were very welcoming! We would love to come back!
