About this house rental
Pelican’s Nest: Location – Location – Location…! This beautiful recently-renovated two-story apartment on the second and third floors is right across the street from the sugar-white sands of the beach and popular Caddy's-On-The-Beach restaurant. The second floor features an entry room / living room area, two bedrooms*, and full bathroom. The third floor upstairs has a kitchen & bar area, a half-bath, and a spectacular, large outdoor deck with hammock, outdoor bar area, grill, dining table, full views of the beach and Gulf of Mexico, and of course beautiful sunsets! Just bring your bags and enjoy a fun filled getaway that is located on peaceful, safe, yet happening and never-boring-unless-you-want-it-to-be Sunset Beach on the southern tip of Treasure Island, Florida.
* The unit sleeps up to 7. The first bedroom has a full bed (sleeps 2), and the second bedroom is set-up with a full bed (sleeps 2) and a twin bed (sleeps 1). There is also a sleeper couch in the living room area that sleeps 2.
In the mornings enjoy breakfasts upstairs and take in the views as the beach gently comes to life with joggers, yoga practitioners, and other beach-goers, as well as passing dolphins and other animal life. And in the afternoons, enjoy a cool beverage in the third floor hammock as your upstairs retreat welcomes you back from the beach with some cool shade from the Florida sunshine. Located minutes from historic downtown St. Petersburg and area attractions including MLB baseball, the Dali Museum and much more, you get the best of both city and beach living. Downtown Tampa / NHL hockey / Tampa Aquarium / Busch Gardens etc. are all within easy reach (~ 45 min), as are Orlando area attractions (~ 2 hrs).
The kitchen area is furnished with everything you need to prepare gourmet or casual meals including a compact refrigerator, electric skillet, countertop range, microwave, toaster oven, etc., a blender to make your favorite frozen cocktail, and hopefully everything else you need. Or throw a steak or some seafood on the outdoor grill (btw, I’m a marine biologist and work for a major local seafood company by day – ask me anything about local seafood 😊). If you prefer, there are numerous restaurants within easy 1-5 minutes’ walk including famous Caddy’s On The Beach, Ka-Tiki, Taco Bus, Sea Dog Brewing Company, Sea Hags Marina Bar & Grille, and others.
Or hop on the affordable Suncoast Beach Trolley and head up to popular John's Pass just five minutes north on the other end of Treasure Island, the quaint turn-of-the-century fishing village with over one hundred merchants with unique retail shopping, fishing fleet, dolphin & sunset cruises, boat rentals, parasailing and jet skiing. Restaurants there include Gators, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and Hooter’s. You just can’t go wrong either way!
For your convenience, back on the property, there is a separate laundry room with 24/7 access and complimentary washer and dryer use, and there is an on-site parking space if you arrive by car.
Whether you want your getaway to be very active or want to just to be a “beach bum”, or a combination of both, I’m sure you’ll find that your stay at the Pelican’s Nest is the perfect place for you!

Our stay was fantastic, can’t say enough good things about it! The location is great with easy beach access in a great neighborhood. Near by bars and dinning spots were 10/10. Easy communication and with a very friendly host! I will definitely visit again in the future. Hidden Gem of Treasure island!

Our absolutely favorite home to stay in while celebrating our anniversary on Sunset Beach in Treasure Island. Wonderful host! Location location, directly across from the gulf! just throw on your suit and walk across the street into the clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The large covered porch on the 3rd floor is a great place to gaze out at the crystal waters in the day, the sunsets in the evening and people watch too. Flat screen TV outside hidden on the side, large table, hammock, bar stools. No place we would rather stay! Thanks Frederick!!

Not fancy or typical house, but perfect beach get away for those that want to be near the beach and hang on deck. Just note that because of set up i recommend those staying there be family as not much privacy for bedrooms/ bathroom.

We loved this place! It is in a great location right across the street from beach access and the hopping Treasure Island Caddy’s. The deck is an amazing hang out spot with a great view of the beach. It was very easy to communicate with the host throughout the week. We would love to come back!

The property was perfect for us and the location is perfect. The owner was absolutely wonderful.

Charming rustic beach property. Owner very accommodating to needs and thoughtful to provide coffee and some beverages. There are a lot of stairs so not best for anyone who has difficulty with that.

The beds are comfortable, the house has a lot of beautiful character, and the location is great! The deck is the best feature of the house and we spent most of our time out there enjoying the ocean views, watching the sun set, and listening to the local bands. Frederick is a great host and will promptly answer any questions you might have and he is very helpful. We enjoyed dinner at Caddy’s across the street as well as Bingo, Trivia, and yoga at Caddy’s.

One positive and only one positive about this stay was the location!!!
Bad points , only one parking space was available, my daughter who is stationed in Tampa came over to visit, she was told by the wife to park right up the street in front of another car. And she wouldn’t get towed or be a issue. We went to dinner came back and she had a dirty note on her window saying she was going to be towed within 30 mins. The host had on site 2 cars 1 truck and a boat, the host did offer a parking pass for my daughter’s car. Next point the AC on the second floor did not work , the host didn’t offer to send someone out to look into it (host was out of town but his wife was on site), the power on the second floor didn’t work on the first night, so we had no lights or AC upstairs. The host responded back about the power issue and was corrected. We wasn’t able to cook due to the heat upstairs. I was very disappointed with this house, only great thing was the location which was directly across the street from the beach and Caddy’s. We left a day early due to the uncomfortableness of the heat. Only had a sheet for the pull out couch,
Tips: Fix the AC upstairs, or have fans available
Add some sort of door for the bedroom going into the living room.

Love this property! Gorgeous very large covered porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico with tropical breezes. Directly across street from clear warm waters, Caddy's yummy beach restaurant. Porch is great for relaxing, watching TV, taking photos, bible study, painting whatever. Unique decor from the beautiful sink to dart board (memories), nautical theme humongous salt water aquarium, spiral staircase. Super dog friendly host and town with a small beach town feel. Love it. Second year coming back for our anniversary week. Host is awesome ! Will be coming back next year! Thank you Frederick!

Lots of stairs. Comfortable beds. Huge exotic fish tank. Several refrigerators. Fluffy towels. Washer & dryer convenience. Best view of beach. Restaurant across the street on the beach and another one block down too. Very nice hosts.

A charming spot that didn’t have a lot of glamor, but provided everything we needed to have a restful and fun vacation. (And by everything, I mean it—beach towels, chairs, on-site laundry, parking, the list goes on and on. Neighbors and locals were super friendly. The owner (on site) was very attentive, but not at all intrusive. Any question I had was answered via text within minutes. My kids also got a kick out of feeding the fish in the large fish tank in the entry way. Sunsets from the third floor deck were our evening entertainment, especially with live music playing from local restaurants in the background. Location really was everything and provided us with not only great sunsets, but easy parking and walks to the beach and local restaurants (we enjoyed Caddy’s directly across the street, but also Taco Bus and for quick necessities 7-11). If you’re looking for a great host, location, and no frills accommodations, it’s a great spot for the whole family (including the dog!).

You couldn’t ask for a better location! The upstairs deck is incredible and great for socializing and people watching! It’s the best feature of the house. The aquarium is cool and we were always finding new fish/sea critters and got to feed them a few times during our stay. Fred is a great host, very accommodating and helpful!

Wow, love this beach home!!! Great find! #Blessed!
My husband & I were looking for a beach front property to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. This is a beautiful 3 story wood frame beach home DIRECTLY across from beach, cabana rental, chair & umbrella rental and an amazing beach restaurant.
Gorgeous view & so close to the beach we who are beach lovers, never felt compelled to go set up an umbrella and chairs because we were basically at the beach from our high perch the huge 3rd floor covered porch! When it rained & other neighbors had to go inside from their porches, we just sat up there, enjoying the breeze and watching the rain and filming time-lapse videos.
Just walk across the street, jump in the crystal waters and come back and sit up on the porch or recline on the hammock.
A lot of attention to unique details that made the home make your heart smile. From unique sinks, sailing decor, fans, dart board (old memories), colorful lights lit up the porch and a large flat screen TV on the porch too. Gorgeous spiral staircase from living area up to kitchen and French doors out to the porch. Downstairs there is also nice flat screen tv with enough HDMI ports for my husband's video game and for our Amazon Fire stick. Bonus: We were able to bring our DOG! It is a dog friendly beach town and our dog became "Mr. Popularity".
This location is PERFECT. It feels like a small beach town! I did everything on the porch from time-lapse photography of sunsets, to Bible study and Diamond Painting.
Frederick is a delightful owner and was very accommodating to bring in a fridge for the porch when I told him I really like to cook and intended on bringing food from home for the week.
All in all, we loved it and plan to come to stay at Fredericks home every year for our anniversary. Thanks so much for a wonderful anniversary!! Sincerely, Kai and Noel Shanks

This is a fantastic property in a lovely location! The sunsets are just astonishing! Right from the amazing balcony! -You are literally steps from the beach and two decent beach restaurants. Beach chairs/umbrellas are available across the street (for tips).
You have everything you need in this vacation home and more - did I mention the sunsets? We LIVED on the balcony and the hammock when not exploring or at the beach. - could not have been nicer! Also beach yoga 3 times/week right on sunset beach - minutes ride to John's Pass fun shopping. Parasailing, shark fishing (La Costa Charters), great waves for boogie boarding depending on the day, and a quick walk to Publix for all your shopping needs. Did I mention the sunsets? Fredrik was as attentive a host as we have ever had - before, during and even asking after our stay what improvements coudl be made for the next guests. If you are looking for a place that has it all - in a lovely beach town - with sunsets and some of the most powdery sand you can imagine - book here! Thanks Fredrik!

I had no access to the thermostat. There was dust everywhere. The toilet was clogged and overflowed. There was old coffee filters that had mold. My daughter had to leave 2 days into the vacation in consequence if the lack of hygiene. The stairs to get into the apartment are out of code and very dangerous to use.
