This home was perfect for our family of 8’s stay. Clean, cozy, and with every amenity needed for all meals and relaxation. The view from any level deck off the back of this home is breathtaking! Absolutely stunning sunset and wildlife watching! I highly recommend this very well taken care of home and hope to be back! Thank you Cindy!!

Black Bear Lodge was a great location for a reunion of friends and family that have been skiing together for nearly forty years. We love Snowshoe and the lodge was exceptionally convenient to Cupp Run. We had 14 adults and two children and we were all comfortable. Our host was great with communication and provided everything in the lodge needed for enjoyment. The kitchen is well supplied with cooking and serving utensils and there were plenty of extra towels and blankets. We could not have had a more pleasant stay!

My brother and I treated our adult children (plus one grand infant) to a long ski weekend. The home had plenty of room for everyone to dine, play games, and hang out together. Clean and well-appointed with spectacular views, Black Bear Lodge is located on a quiet street only two houses away from a Black Diamond slope -- practically ski-in, ski-out. The less experienced skiers took the shuttle, which was also convenient and timely.

Great property enjoyed our stay. Check in was late do to cleaning delay. Believe it weather related. Inconvenient but staff very nice. Bunk bed in basement had broken slab. Otherwise a perfect trip! Thank you.

December 28, 2022 We checked in. The house was fine, but the hot tub hadn't been serviced: • The water was low • No chemicals in the spa • The filter needed to be changed • The water smelled strange • When the jets were on, water sputtered into our faces • Green junk floated on the water December 29, 2022 Since the spa was unusable, the owner permitted us to use an outside hose to fill it. The pipe in the wall immediately exploded and flooded the basement. The owner told us how to access the mechanical room over the phone, and we turned off the main water supply valve. This meant no drinking water, showers, or use of toilets. Our group used every single towel in the house to mop up the flooded basement. The owner should have provided a plumber or maintenance person. To get water back to the rest of the house, we were told to diagnose the problem ourselves and determine which valve would isolate the supply to the broken pipe in the wall. We did. That night, someone came by at 9 pm, cut a hole in the wall to locate the burst pipe, and said he'd return the next day to make the repair. December 30, 2022 We again requested the spa to be serviced so that we could use it. The owner said she would send someone over, but no one arrived. She suggested that we drive up the mountain and avail ourselves of pool/hot tub passes at the Snowshoe resort. That night, we filled the tub using buckets and coolers to add approximately one hundred gallons of water. Though the level was okay, the water smelled bad, there were no chemicals, the filter needed changing, and there was green gunk floating. December 31, 2022 The owner suggested we service the spa ourselves and that she would have someone bring over the chemicals. No one arrived with them. That night a maintenance worker repaired the broken pipe in the wall. He looked at the spa and said, "The water's foul. You oughta drain it." Then he left. January 1, 2023 We checked out. Summary: We chose this rental property because the listing advertised a working hot tub spa. Despite our repeated requests (9 calls, 27 texts, and many VRBO messages), the owner never provided what was advertised. The owner told us to maintain the spa ourselves, which resulted in a flooded house and no water to the house. The owner offered a 10% refund, which does not compensate for the inconvenience, time spent on solving problems that weren't ours, and our ability to enjoy our vacation.
