This beautiful cabin along the tranquil Rio Grande river is such a relaxing retreat. The outdoor space and views were magnificient. Also, the cabin was very clean and comfortable. We saw a young mule deer, osprey and those adorable little prarie dogs as you turn into the driveway. Our biggest regret is that we did not book a longer stay. We will definitely be back. Melissa does an awesome job and is very easy to work with. Thanks for everything!

We used South Fork as a base and made day trips to several high mountain lakes and wilderness areas. Awesome trip!

The cabin was perfect. The proximity to the river is a big plus. We spent every morning drinking coffee by the river. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. The fire table on the deck was a nice addition. If we come back to South Fork we will definitely stay at this cabin. Mellisa and Dan have done a good job in makeing your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

We came to South Fork for a wedding located in Creede; however, we wanted our stay to be a vacation as well. This cabin was perfect for us because it gave us the opportunity to enjoy the river between other activities around the wedding. The cabin was comfortable and we were surprised to see all of the fun outdoor seating options that were available so we can have fun outdoors during our stay! We had a great time!

Having now stayed at both the lodge and the cabin, I can say the Rio River Retreat properties are top notch. Have everything we needed and the feel of being “by yourself” while still being close to everything. Highly recommended.

Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed staying at the cabin. We experienced significant snowfall for two days and with young children, we were limited to skiing partial days. However, we made the most of our time at the cabin by playing games, watch John Wayne and Hobbit movies and just hanging out with no agenda. Due to illness, we ended up staying an extra day. Kids loved staying in the loft and we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. Melissa was very responsive and accomodated all of our needs. Highly recommend staying at this property. View was fantastic.

I booked this cabin for friends of mine that were married in Creede and spent their first night here. They said everything was perfect and having the Rio Grande right there to listen to was magic. Thank you for the great communication and the help making their stay so special.

The cabin was lovely and comfortable. Plenty of seating outside to watch the river roiling and the wildlife wandering. River was high and swift from snow melt and daily rains, but beautiful in its’ own way.

Great cabin with plenty of sleeping options, well-stocked kitchen, grill, deck, and fire ring near the river. Our group of 5 men cooked plenty of meals, used the grill, and chilled on the deck...after 2 long days of fly fishing in the area. Would definitely come back.!

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Plenty of space for the family and was so comfortable. The gas fireplace was a nice add as it was too cool and windy to have a fire down by the river. Kitchen was well equipped as we cooked all our meals vs going out. Recommend South Fork! The owner was very responsive to our questions.

This is a nice cabin/small house just of Hwy 50 and right on the river. It is well appointed and kept. It's on the east side of town away from the traffic and the pricing is great for what you get. I'll stay here again.

We stayed at the cabin for a few days of downtime as a family before Christmas and it was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked for simple meal prep, and plenty of space to kick back on the sectional sofa for games or a movie. We will definitely return for a more skiing and making great memories as a family in South Fork. Thank you Dan and Mellisa.

This cabin was perfect for our group. There was plenty of room, it was stocked with everything we could of possibly needed, and was close proximity to town. The river that runs behind the cabin is so beautiful and peaceful! I was most impressed by the level of customer service. Melissa and I texted throughout the stay regarding a tripped breaker (they fixed immediately), food recommendations in town, AND she brought a streaming device to allow us to watch a football game at the cabin. Look no further and stay here! You’ll be so glad you did!

Loved the cabin. Had everything we needed. Road noise was noticeable. River was nearby but below the cabin so river noise was minimal and road noise was not. Maybe need a fence between cabin and road to minimize that noise. Thanks we had a good time.

We rented the cabin for 5 nights for a family of 6. It was a wonderful place to stay because it was secluded and steps from the Rio Grande River! The cabin had a large patio area with table and chairs and a gas patio pit plus another one closer to the river. The fishing was unbelievable especially whe it was brown because of heavy rain upstream, we definitely plan to rent the cabin again next summer! IIt is close to many great restaurants and the Rainbow grocery and fishing supplies!

From the rising of the sun to the setting of the same light dances around this amazing place! Our family gathered for reunion and had so much fun fishing, splashing, kayaking, tubing, and ending each day around the campfire making S'mores! Southfork has cute shops for souvenirs etc... friendly to visitors. Totally recommend Rio River Retreat!!

We are a family with a child who has special needs. Our goal was to find a vacation home with outdoor space to relax, indoor space for all of us and accessible point of entry. This cabin did not disappoint! The downstairs level was sufficient for our needs with two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry. The beds were comfortable, spacious closets and room for our gear. The upstairs loft has 3 more beds equally comfortable and lots of room for board games or just grabbing a book to read.
I spent every morning on the porch with a cup of coffee, watching the birds and listening to the river.
The Rio Grande is truly right along the property. We also enjoyed some time relaxing at the fire pit in the yard by the river.
Dan and Melissa brought us a new BBQ, which we enjoyed! They were also available to make recommendations for car repairs as well as places to eat and shop in South Fork. They are kind people and really enjoy meeting their guests.
The pictures on the web are spot on! However, and this is not the fault of the owners, Hwy 160 goes right by the property so there is a bit of noise from traffic.
If you are looking for a home base for all that Southern Co has to offer: fishing, hiking, jeeping/ATV and various river activities, then this cabin is a gem.

Rio Retreat stay
This was such a perfect experience for us. We only stayed two nights to help break up our trip home from Montana to Missouri. I’ve stayed in lots of cabins throughout Colorado and this one was by far my favorite. Right on the river and with glorious views. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the more south western region of Colorado, but it was absolutely breathtaking. The drive to Pagosa Springs was absolutely gorgeous. The cabin was spacious well priced and had more than enough amenities. I try to stay at different places every time we go, but I could definitely see myself staying here again.

Great Cabin and Location
Perfect location for visiting Great SDNP. Extremely peaceful and on a beautiful river. Great place to enjoy sunset. We enjoyed watching the prairie dogs as we drove in. Clean, comfortable beds and everything we needed. We didn’t have any issues, however, the management team responds quickly if needed. Really great Mexican restaurant 10 mins away. I would stay here again.

Best. Place.Ever!
We had a wonderful retreat at the cabin at Rio River Retreat. It was clean and comfortable and felt like home. The river is right outside and is full of wildlife and a relaxing rushing river sound. South Fork was also very welcoming. We were close to activities and shopping but could come home to the cabin to relax. The drive to Pahgossa Springs is breath taking! The cabin hosts were amazing. We will be back.
