The check-in process went very smoothly, and the property was largely as advertised. However, shortly checking in (before any food was opened), we found several roaches on multiple levels throughout the house, and we found several dried hairs in the cabinets and on multiple pieces of cooking ware.
We contacted the management company about the roaches, and they sent out an exterminator shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, after 24 hours we continued to find roaches throughout the house for the remainder of our stay. While we recognize the spiders and ants are part of any house in the area, the continued presence of roaches inside certainly soured the experience.
Furthermore, the furniture was not clean. This went beyond stains or normal "wear & tear." There were particles of foreign matter on the furniture when we first arrived. We cleaned and mitigated as best we could, but again, this was disappointing.
Finally, at approximately 8:40 AM, when we were in the process of checking out before the 9:00 AM departure time, someone came to the property to do a walk around, and it was disruptive to the final loading/packing process.
We have loved the other VRBO properties and experiences we have had, so I hesitate to leave an unwelcome review. But in short, it was disappointing.

The house served the purpose!
We loved the hot tub and the pool. Nice walk to the beach. The outside and yard could have used some landscaping and upkeep. A lot was overgrown making it hard to take dogs out. We were able to walk them all around the streets. Appreciate the dog friendly place.
The beds were not queen, but seemed to be double size which was unexpected.
I loved the couches and furniture, cute and comfy. Nice kitchen area and lots of pots and pans . We had trouble with tv's and wifi but the maintenance came out promptly to help!

Nice place. Convenient to town, great pool. Nice couches, comfortable bed. Clean and well stocked. Could've used another refrigerator/freezer. A few maintenance issues, but the maintenance people were immediate in responding and the sales office was very supportive. All in all a great experience.

I've been vacationing in OBX for the past 28 years and this is by far the worst house I've ever rented. We had two families staying at the home with 12 people total. First the positives. The location of this house is fantastic. We had very easy access to the beach which was across the street with parking available. We were also able to walk to the sound and spent each evening on the pier enjoying the beautiful sunsets. We rented bikes which was a fun way to get into town which is only one mile away.
Now the negatives. The house next door to this house is completely falling apart with a huge dumpster in front full of trash. This is not the pleasant view I expected to have on vacation. This house is run down. The house had dirty carpets and there is dust on walls and ceilings. The kitchen cabinets are falling apart. Upstairs deck railings are loose which made us feel unsafe getting close to them. Upon arriving we found a pair of underwear in one of the beds and dirty clothes hanging behind a door. The couches and beds seemed clean. I know this house has changed ownership but in my opinion for the price point the entire house needs to be repaired and redone before renting any further. I'm extremely disappointed that we paid as much as we did. I'm writing this review to help future renters make a more informed decision about what they are actually renting. We feel the pictures and description were grossly misrepresented.

House was in a decent location, but needs lots of work..kitchen was hard to navigate as the cabinets seemed to be very old and unorganized. Pool was nice and rooms were spacious. The kitchen faucet was loose and turned from side to side when used.

We were deceived by the back area which was newer. Once we got to the house it was old, filthy, stained carpets throughout house, very dangerous loose railing on second floor. The baby started to get sick and I thought I was having stroke symptoms plus horrible vertigo and throwing up. My son discovered Black Mold throughout the upstairs! Maintenance confirmed it was black mold. We were finally forced to leave and get another house where all my symptoms and the baby as well disappeared! The new house was clean. We were charged for 3 nights of pure misery! We deserved to be reimbursed for those nights and this house should not be rented to another family. If we are not reimbursed we will contact the BBB!

We were very surprised to learn that house does not have any legal walkable access to the ocean. The nearby communities prohibit public access and the house does not have any rights to access the beach through the closest communities. The rental agency told me to drive to Plover. Please note that the house description does NOT state that there is nearby access to the ocean and sound. I did not see the omission, and I don’t want others to make the same mistake.
Also, an earlier review was mistaken on another issue. The rental company said there were no parking permits, access to tennis courts and community pool.
Overall, we expected a lot more for the price. The rugs and ceilings have significant stains. The lower level has a moldy odor. The kitchen and family rooms are small. The location means little because you have no legal walkable access to the Ocean. I think the main reason they can charge their rental price is because it is pet friendly and has a lot of beds.

Overall this was a nice place to stay. Convenient easy walk to the beach and quiet neighborhood. The biggest complaint was the cleanliness. The carpets were stained all over the place and there was a stench about the place. I would recommend this place if they carpets were replaced and the kitchen utensils etc upgraded.

This property served us well the week we stayed here. The pool and hot tub were nice to have and got a lot of use. As stated in previous reviews this house could use attention, especially for the rates charged. The outside railing on the top deck had slats that were loose and a safety hazard for the one year old in our party. We kept a chair there to block it. The entire railing feels loose and does not inspire confidence. Another post mentioned that there is no space for food and I have to agree with that assessment. Carpets were stained and I’m glad we brought duvet covers for the beds. The walk to the beach was short (10 minutes) and there was a lifeguard stand. All in all the house was ok and would stay there again if other options were not available.

Premium price for an average house
Nice to have a pet friendly home, but this place needs some attention. We paid a premium rate for this house, possibly double what it is actually worth, but since covid, it seems renters are trying to recover from lost reveue and price gouging is happening all over the country, so owners should expect to get reviews that are more critical. No way this house, in this location, in this condition should be renting for this price.
Top deck railing needs attention asap. It is dangerous (very lose) and some slats are falling off too. All the hvac vents have dirt rings around then (it just looks bad). No cabinet space for any food (take some cups away and leave some empty space for your renters) Outside property could use some clean up too.
Walk to the beach was further than we thought, about a 10 minute walk.
Pool was nice, hot tub was nice.
I'd have given this house a higher rating if we weren't paying top dollar.

Family Vacation
The location of the house and the quick walk to the beach was great. The pool and hot tub were very enjoyable, especially after a day at the beach. Overall, our family had a wonderful time. I would suggest that the carpet should have been cleaned and maybe the main bedroom should have been on the botton floor since it really was the biggest bedroom.

Well worn with stained, grubby looking carpet. Kitchen needs a clean-out of pans that are unusable.
Pool and hot tub were well maintained. Air conditioning was out of balance for 2 nights so that bottom floor was damp and cold while top floors stayed warm. We called maintenance who brought in HVAC specialist who corrected the problem. That was a good experience despite the fact that we were uncomfortable for a couple of days. Restaurants were so busy we couldn’t get takeout service.

Nice stay in Duck
We were disappointed to find out on our way down that the pool would not be available, but the rental company did their best to make it right. Otherwise, good location and a comfortable spot to spend the week in the OBX.

Close Walk to Beach
We enjoyed our stay. Property was ready a bit early. We all loved the private pool after a long day in the sun.

Great stay
Loved the pool, hot tub, grill, two living spaces! So nice. Very close to the beach (just have to cross the busy main road). Also close to cute Duck Village!
When we arrived, there were permits for beach access parking, and we learned about access to a community pool and tennis courts—was a nice surprise, but the listing needs to be updated to reflect these amenities!
Overall enjoyed the stay and would come again.
