The home is very charming. However, there are a few details you may want to know. First I never contacted the owner/manager with any issues since I didn't feel there was anything they could do before our rent term was completed. First there is no hot tub, there was only 1 bike with a flat tires, there are 2 grills - both not cleaned but the propane was empty so we used the other grill. The sink outside was flithy. Make sure if you have dogs don't let them in the outside shower area because they can easily get out going under the home. Now the main thing that was most annoying is the A/C I would set for 69/70 but wouldn't get to that until after midnight, it was 75 degrees even 79 degrees - and it was below 90 degrees outside. The futon is broken and hot in that room always. The front door lock didn't work half the time would click like it locked but you could just open the door. The bathroom when we first got there smelled like pee but, we cleaned it, problem solved - looked clean just didn't smell clean. There are pennies stuck in the washer machine - tried to get them out but, couldn't. All the mattresses in the home are very old and uncomfortable. Just know everything except the coffee maker is dated and mis-matched of dishes and silverware. (Not a big deal or deal breaker). I just wish the owner wouldn't have false advertised bikes and hot tube. Over all great location and cute home. Just needs some work outside and upgrades and check AC

Cottage very great on inside. Very accessible to boat ramp and restaurants. We think the grass should have been mowed and backyard needed a thorough cleaning. We were not able to use the gas grill as it had not been cleaned in a while.

Always enjoy the port st Joe area, and the fishing.

This property worked great for us. Loved the back yard and " happy hour" hut. Very comfortable. Very friendly neighborhood. Loved the front porch. The bike had a flat tire, would have been nice to have one but only blocks to town and nice to walk the neighborhood.

Our family, including our 2 aussies, had a wonderful time in PSJ this week! We loved the photo album of the renovations & enjoyed the character of this home. Our 2 pups enjoyed the big fenced in yard & made it into their personal racetrack. Thank you for opening up this cozy home to us, we will definitely add it to one of our favorites to look for when booking again!

It turned out cold when I was there. I turned up the heat but it wasn't enough to keep the place warm. It got colder and the pipes froze so I had no water. I just packed up and left. i was never furnished with a contact number or instructions on how to enter the house so I spent the first night sleeping in my car. This had to be the worst travel experience of my life

The house is perfect for two to four people and very dog friendly with a fenced yard. The kitchen is nicely set-up for cooking in and every restaurant in town is easily walkable. A great stay in a wonderful area.

As senior folks, we could totally appreciate the charm of this old house, but we think our grown kids and grandkids would like it too. It has been renovated and decorated beautifully and has all the conveniences you could ask for plus lots of little extra touches. We enjoyed the fire pit while steaks cooked on the grill, morning coffee on the front porch, all the utensils we needed to cook low country boil in the large kitchen, nearby restaurants as well as a great Piggly Wiggly, and the easy access public boat ramp just a few blocks away. The house was super clean (stained pillows mentioned in another review have obviously been replaced), checking in and out was super easy, and Janis was super helpful and gracious. This is not the place for those looking for excitement, but if you want a quaint, cozy cottage to relax in, this is it!

This quaint cottage is located adjacent to downtown Port St Joe. The bay and a small park are located across a 2 lane Main Street. It is in a shaded neighborhood with similar cottages. Inside is an open design concept, with 2 bedrooms, and a bonus bunk room/office. Full bath and laundry room in the back of the house. Very comfortable and cozy. Very nice fenced in backyard for our 2 pups ! Overall, very nice stay, will go back.

The picture shows 2 bicycles and there was only one, so useless to us. Needed to have instructions with remotes for TV. No bath soap or shampoo, lotion.
It was done very nicely and we enjoyed our stay, just needed a few more amenities.

We stayed at the cottage and everything was perfect. Janice was extremely responsive and helpful. The cottage was everything you see in the photos. So cute! Only negative was after stripping the bed sheets and pillowcases, per owner request, the pillows had old blood looking stains on them. So that was not pleasant to see after using them for an entire week. The towels were also very aged and bleach stained. Other than that, everything was great.

This was our first visit to Port St Joe and it was great! The cottage was fully stocked with every thing we needed to be able to relax. The photo album showing the restoration process was fascinating! Great location with an easy walk to the great restaurants in the historic downtown.
Would definitely stay here again!!

Door lock a little tricky with door jam/dead bolt. Spent days on water fishing so early AM/PM use mostly. Would reserve again in future if back in area for similar type trip.

The cottage was charming and very nostalgic. It is conveniently located near historic downtown St.Port Joe and the bay side of the Gulf. Found lots of things to do in and around the area even in a rainy week.
Janis is a wonderful hostess and quick to respond to any needs you might have.
If you are looking for a place away from all the crowds of 30A, this is it. Great location for this unique cottage!

Came down for a few days of fishing in St. Joe Bay. The house is close to the boat ramp in port St. Joe and conveniently located to everything in town. There was plenty of room to park my boat (20 foot) in the side driveway and backing in was easy as the street isn’t very busy. Look forward to hopefully staying here again next year.

We had a great time at this historic cottage within walking distance to downtown Port St. Joe and the beach. The property was as described and had features that truly enhanced our experience. The owner was a joy to work with and actually saved us in a pinch of miss booking. It was spacious and had a large kitchen where we cooked many of our meals. Our dogs enjoyed the large fenced in yard and chased squirrels around the fence! The front porch had a gate so we could also sit out there with our pups enclosed. The accommodation was spacious and well appointed with everything for your beach stay. Chairs, umbrellas bikes etc. The location was great for us. We could walk to downtown and browse the shops, walk the PStJ water front or walk back away from the sea to a large park and walking trail. All in all we loved the small town feel, friendly neighbors and general vibe of Port St. Joe. We explored nearby Cape San Blas, Appalachcola and Windmark beach. All different and interesting. All and all we couldn't have been happier with our accommodations and and the location. Thank you Janis for a great stay!

Our definition of a bathroom includes a flush toilet and the outside shower does not qualify. There was a musty smell throughout. The internet connection was unstable for a week. No instructions for the coffee pot and TV. You need to rent bikes because the two on the property are broken.
On the plus side, within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Decor was pleasing. A big fenced backyard.

The size and location of the cottage were perfect for my husband and I. We liked being close to the downtown area of Port St. Joe. Unfortunately, the street was very noisy (a lot of loud traffic and barking dogs). The trash inside the kitchen was full when we arrived from the previous guests and the front porch could have used a good cleaning as well. Janis was very responsive which we appreciated.

Great location. Close to city boat ramp and downtown. Very clean property and room to park my 21 foot boat. Walking distance to a nice park with benches to view the sunsets. Wonderful host.

The location worked well for us. It had a big enough area for the boat and it’s in a convenient area to get to the boat ramp quickly. The house had everything we need.

Cute and dog friendly
We were looking for a slower pace beach town and have a senior dog so didnt want the hassle of a condo when she had to go outside. This cottage is as advertised. Loved the fenced yard , gas grill and front porch with a gate. The cottage was bright and eclectic. Very well appointed. We enjoyed our stay.

Excellent Long Term Stay
Where to start? Janis’ home surpassed our expectations!! Janis was a perfect host - easy to communicate with and available when needed.
Living room was so comfortable and cozy - lots of lamps for extra lighting and ambiance. The dining room had the most amazing table, chairs and coffee station. The kitchen had well looked after/newer appliances and all the gadgets you would ever need to cook up a storm. The bedrooms were inviting, beds really comfy, lots of drawer and closet space and plenty of hangers, extra pillows, blankets, etc. The third bedroom has a futon and is set up like an office so that was really appreciated - the workspace was perfect. The back of the house has a great-sized bathroom with a huge shower as well as a well-stocked laundry area with everything you need. The backyard is huge and the patio area rustic and pleasing. The poodles had such a great time “hunting” geckos and squirrels in the yard. There is a covered, outdoor area with a sink, tables, stools, BBQ, bicycles, etc. The front porch - loved it - brought back childhood memories of sitting and watching the world go by. It is a really good size and has swinging gates to ensure that your dogs are safe. Great place to watch storms, that is until the rain drives you off the porch (LOL). Enjoyed meeting the neighbors and getting to know them.
Downtown Reid street is just a block and a half away - great shops, restaurants, nice little farmer’s market every second Saturday. Beaches are a short drive away and at the end of the street, there is a small park where you can enjoy the sunset.
Catty corner is a house that has a 6-foot backyard fence. If the dog scales the fence and comes over to you - he’s friendly and just tell him to go home - oh, and help him cross the street so that he is safe. His name is Archie!!
Truthfully, I did not want to leave a review because I would love to be able to rent Janis’ home again in the future!!
