Gerne Wieder

Koselig, men litt gammel/slitt leilighet.

Lovely holiday in Villa Caroline
We are a middle aged family, we went on a two week vacation in Villa Caroline with our two children (16 and 18 years old). Our primary decision factor when choosing the apartment were reviews from other guests. It was our first trip to Croatia, and we have fallen in love with friendly local people, climate, very clean sea, sunshine and bright blue skies. Caroline and her family are very warm and friendly hosts, they helped us in every possible way they could. Although they are very busy, they found time for us, and advised us what places and restaurants to visit.
Apartment was very comfortable, clean, and the atmosphere was delightful. Although it is equipped with air condition, we have only used it a couple of times during the day, because the temperature was pleasant.
During our stay, we took a couple of days to relax and recharge our batteries, so we got to know the local area better. After that we visited surrounding area, beautiful roman island-city Trogir which is over 2000 years old. In Trogir we have visited Kamerlengo fortress, city hall, St. Lawrence cathedral (Radovan's portal is a must see!), etc. We sat for a cup of coffee on the main square in front of the cathedral, it was beautiful. About 30 kilometers from the apartment is beautiful city Split with world famous Roman emperor Diocletian's palace. On our children's recommendations we have visited Klis fortress, just north of Split, where part of Game of Thrones TV series was filmed, the view from the fortress is absolutely stunning!
During our stay, we had dinner in a couple of restaurants famous for dalmatian specialties – grilled sea fish, scampi and pasticada with gnocchi, delicious dalmatian specialty. Food was excellent and the prices were affordable. We have also grilled fish in a large barbecue in courtyard of the apartment (available for guests from the apartments).
We were pleasantly surprised with dinner made by the hosts for all guests from the apartments. The atmosphere was perfect, along with home-made wine and dalmatian fish specialties. Mrs. Penga made all sorts of different meals, from grilled fish, octopus salad, traditional pies and scampi buzzara, the food was delicious.
There were guests from other countries on the dinner, after couple of glasses of wine everyone started singing songs, from rock ballades to traditional songs from their countries, we all felt like at home. Long story short, it was a great vacation, and we will definitely come back!

Awesome place!!!
The property as a whole was every clean and tidy, the studio apartment myself and husband stayed in was very cosy and clean!!! We also had our 3 Springer Spaniels with us, they loved it, as Caroline and husband and even their son was very welcoming of them, and they were allowed to go in all gardens, I think my cheeky Troy even went to say hello to them in their private dwelling!!! But they really didn't mind!!! I fell in love with Croatia, we stayed for a week, and couldn't fit everything in, we caught the boat to Trogir several times, that side is beautiful with it's many resturants in little courtyards through the rabbit warren of little cobbled streets. We also took the boat to Split again it was beautiful and lots to see!!! We also went to Sibernik this is also a must see!!!! From the apartment you take a 5 minute walk down the hill and your at the beach!! I will warn the hills are steep!! But well worth the effort of walking them!!! I would happily go back here, the owners where very helpful and very easy to talk with!! I would defiantly be recommending this property to my friends/family, and I am seriously thinking about going back next year!!!!

Late summer holiday
We spent a week for a second time in this cozy and tidy apartment. Perfect place for relaxing holiday with long walks and canoeing around the beautiful island enjoying the sun and the sea. Caroline and Ivo are most helpful hosts, thank you! We warmly recommend.

très agréable séjour
Studio spacieux, propre et confortable, équipement suffisant. Climatisation.

A lovely stay!
The Norwegian couple staying in apartement 2 in July 2011 wants to thank Caroline Penga and her family for a lovely stay!
Caroline gave the best service, from booking to departure. She picked us up at the airport, and even stopped at a supermarked so we could shop some groceries. And we where told to come and ask her about anything anytime. She was the most wonderful hostess.
The apartement is small, but clean and nice, and you have everything you need, including a lot of towels. You allso have access to washing macine. The outdoor area for this aparment is small, and have evening sun, so its a bit too hot to sit there before the sun goes down, But you have access to the big terrace above if you want.
There is 2 steep roads to climb going home fro Okrug/ main beach, but it is worth the sweat because of the quiet area.
We agree to all the other reviews, so we will not repeat it all.
So, what to do in Okrug? Main beach can be ok a day or two, but a bit too crowded to our taste. We liked Camping Rozac ( google it), a 40min walk from the apartment. You can see it if stand on the big terrace. You walk at the end of main beach and 7-8 min further on. Bring water. There is an ok bar there ( you get coffee), and an ok restaurant. We allso visited Camping Lamadusa, a good walk to get there, but you can allso take a taxi.
Best reatuarant is Leonardo, but go to Trogir allso ( better restaurants). Recommend late afternoon, the narrow streets there are packed after 20.00h. Boat from Okrug every half our. Allso visit Split. Boat from Trogir takes 1h ( can allso go by bus). Split is a nice town for shopping. And visit the Palace, and eat at place recommended in Lonely Planet guide for Kroatia. Here we recommend you to go from Okrug in the morning, allso because of the amount of people and because going to Split is a one-day trip if you go shopping!
You have to really see the Adriatic sea, so hire a boat/ go yacht excursion! We went for a 10 hour trip, including brekfast and lunsch, fruit and all drinks included (wine, coffee, water) and had the most fantastic day, visiting the small islands around Ciovo, swimming in the most blue lagoons you can think of, for about 520Nkr pr person (we where 9 persons)
For a Norwegian prices are comfortable, paying under 300NKR for dinner for 3 persons including beer/ coke. Big pizza 50NKR, big beer 25NKR. Pay, mostly cash ( in kuna).
But: you MUST join Caroline`s fishbarbeque!
Our first time in Kroatia, not the last!

Wonderful, relaxing break
My girlfriend and I booked a week stay at the property and from landing at Split into warm, wonderful weather to leaving in the exact same conditions we were never disappointed once. The apartment was clean and Caroline and her husband were incredibly friendly and helpful, the property is a 15min walk to the main beach where most people settle for the day as there is lots of little cafes and bars where drinks and lunch can be had while enjoying the sun and the amazing water which was so warm and relaxing. If you want to head to Trogir the ferry from the main beach goes every half hour and is a cheap way to get into the old town for touristy things or just for a meal out in the evening. We went to Krka which was amazing and booked with one of the travel guides on the main beach for a decent price, I would thoroughly recommend going canyoning which comprises of donning a wetsuit, helmet and lifejacket and floating down an amazing canyon and through gentle rapids. Caroline cooked a feast of a meal for everyone staying in the apartments on the friday and everyone had a great time talking and enjoying some wine in the warm evening. While we were there temperatures were on average 32deg celcius and we had a very enjoyable time and would recommend it to everyone.

All we wanted for a great stay
From our welcome at the airport to our goodbyes outside the departure lounge, Caroline and her husband couldn't have been more helpful. The apartment was clean and well kept - everything worked and we had all the necessary cooking utensils - though we did bring a sharp kitchen knife and that came in handy. There is a small supermarket only 5 or 6 minutes walk away and there are bigger ones within 15 minutes or so from the apartment on foot. The sea was beautiful and clear and we swam from the shingly beaches or the rocky outcrops - the nearest being only 5 minutes down the hill, though we walked towards the main town a bit and used the shingly beach. It was very safe and friendly and there seems to be just about no crime - an ipod lay undisturbed on a towel near us for a whole afternoon! The beach mats in the apartment are very helpful, but you should buy some of the gel swimming shoes which almost everyone wears - they really help when getting in and out of the water. Do be aware that there is a steep climb to the apartment from the beach, so if you're not good on your feet then you'll want a car. If you don't mind the walk then you can manage without - we did. There is a regular boat service to Trogir and buses and boats go to Split throughout the day. Portal Travel in Trogir organise lots of trips and we had a great day at Krka National Park with and excellent guide. We also booked an island trip from one of the operators down at Okrug beach and that was worth doing too. On our last evening, Caroline invited all of us who had booked for a fortnight to dinner at her apartment where she served up a wonderful meal, with lots of homemade (and very strong) wine (and with special dishes for the fussy vegetarians - us!). On our last day we left all our bags at the apartment while we went to Trogir and Caroline's husband picked us up in time to get us to the airport. If you don't have a car it's well worth paying to be collected and dropped off. It was a lovely fortnight, very relaxing and just what we wanted, and Apartment 2 provided an ideal base for all we wanted to do.

Our Honeymoon
Couldn't have asked for more lovely people than the owners of this property, warm welcoming and incredibly helpful. The location of this appartment is superb, within walking range of beach bars, uninhabited forests, remote coves and a short boat trip from the unesco site of Trogir. Motorised transport required for those not to fit but a good challenge to those who are. Appartment two is a lovely little studio appartment ideal for a couple. Its clean tidy and surprisingly spacious. The highlight of a stay at this appartment, the fish dinners held reguarly by the host, fresh fish straight out of the sea on to the BBQ and onto the plate, Fantastic! One other thing, ask about their home made wines, you wont be disapointed.

lovely week in dalmatia
we thoroughly enjoyed our week staying in this appartment. we cooked several meals in the appartment, and the facilities were more than adequate with everything needed for food preparation and a large fridge. the bathroom was clean and well equipped with toiletries, towels and a hairdryer. we enjoyed eating out on the balcony in the evenings and looking across the bay to trogir lit up by night. it was quite a long walk into the town, but the boats were regular and cheap, and trogir itself was a beautiful town full of character with lots of great restaurants. split was also great, both for those interested in history and sightseeing, and also for shopping. the markets were bustling and full of good, reasonably priced produce. krka national park was a brilliant day out with good facilities and incredible scenery.
the beaches were very close to the appartment, and there were both wide gravelly beaches with bars and ice cream bars along them, ideal for families, and also walking left from the appartment more rocky beaches backed by woodland which were more secluded and with great opportunities for snorkelling.
the hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly and made our stay very pleasant. they held a barbecue with a wonderful spread of local seafood and their fantastic home made wine.
we only regretted that we only had a week to spend at this great destination.

Studio Apartment Penga
We stayed for 2 weeks in the studio apartment. It was clean and comfortable but not large (but absolutely fine if you like to be out all day as we do) and the location is quiet, so although the studio is right on the road level it is not at all noisy. The road is a dead end, so very little traffic. The hosts Ivica and Dragica are very friendly and made us feel very welcome; we enjoyed two convivial barbecue evenings with them and other guests and friends. There is a pleasant area to sit outside the apartment with a view across the bay. Swimming and snorkelling in the area is excellent with clear, warm water. The coast is mainly rocky with some pebbly beaches. So if you are looking for wide sandy beaches it is not for you. It is a short, but steep, walk to the nearest beach; so perhaps not suitable for those who have any mobility problems. There are other beaches around the island which can be reached by car or bus. There is a convenient shuttle boat service to Trogir which leaves from the harbour only a 10 minute walk away and from there you can pick up buses or ferries up and down the coast e.g. to visit Split (recommended!) and some other nearby islands. The main beach has boat hire and other watersports. We hired a small motor boat for the day and explored around the coast and picnicked on a small uninhabited island, which made a great day out. There are shops, bars and restaurants within 10 mins walk and a bigger choice in Trogir. We especially recommend the market in Trogir for good quality and low price fruit and vegetables.
The downside of staying on the island, if you have a car and plan to get off the island, is that the traffic in high season is very busy due to the bottle neck of the bridge at Trogir. We found that you, if you plan going off island, you either need to get on the road early e.g. 7am or wait until late morning. Peak times we found ourselves in a traffic queue for at least and hour. If you don't have a car there are plenty of tour operators in Trogir where you can book day trips to the main attractions e.g. Krka National Park.
Overall: a lovely, quiet location, pleasant apartment and charming hosts. Plenty to see and do in the area as well as good (but not sandy) beaches

Lovely location and very nice owners
We had a wonderful holiday. Trogir is very beautiful with lots of wonderful restaurants and Split had lots to see, for example Diocletian's Palace (excellent example of Roman architecture--most of it intact). The balcony of the property we stayed in had a very beautiful view of the bay, it was lovely sipping our drinks and watching the sunset. The terrace is also very good for sunbathing during the day. The owners were very warm, friendly and extremely helpful which added to our delight. I would certainly come back again.
